Summer Transfer Window
Sunderland are apparently on for will Buckley again this weekend. Another one from Brighton.
Also after Nacer Chadli from spurs and Jonas from Valencia - along with still trying to persuade fabio borini.

I can see wickham going. He is on his last year of his contract and all we have done is offer an extension without a payrise. I'll be sad to see him go though.

Don't rate Wickham, never a prolific scorer, not going to get carried away by a three or four game spell at the end of last season. Think he's decidely B rate, if that.

Surprisingly enough a player doesn't have to play for my team for me to think he's better than Connor Wickham.
I think Carroll would be considered a top forward if it wasn't for his injury issues.

He's just talking about who's a better player, at best, when fit. Carroll's proved he can score 15 in the EPL, what's Wickham done......precisely, very little. If your going to cream yourselves over a four game spell last season, then your standards are pretty low for judging a striker. Wickham - average at best. I'll add, Carroll isn't much better....but he's superior to Wickham.

Even then Connor Wickham is well below average. I'm not confident he would even succeed in the Championship.

Re: Summer Transfer Window
8 in 16 last season, Carroll got 17 in 39 in quite frankly one of the best teams in the 2nd tier in recent memory. Fine spell at Wednesday last year.
Ask me to pick one and it'd be the 21 year old who played a big part in keeping Sunderland up vs the 25 year old injury prone lump with no technical ability.

Andy Carroll is a criminally underrated striker; he was exactly what England needed in the last twenty-five minutes against Italy.

Is that 15 in the PL all time? Because his best season is 13 goals in 10/11 and since then he scored 13 league goals total. Still living off half a PL season with Newcastle.

Andy Carroll's unfortunate injuries have scuppered his progress. Given time, I am sure he could give a challenge to Daniel Sturridge for the number nine position in the colours of England.
At the very least, he would be a fantastic impact option. #oneandycarroll

He's highest is 11
11 upto xmas, before going to anfield. would of surpassed 15 with ease.

Until rather predictably, he got injured and did very little for the rest of the season.John wrote:Fernando wrote:John wrote:He's just talking about who's a better player, at best, when fit. Injuries stop becoming unfortunate when they occur as often as Carrolls.

That's like claiming Aaron Ramsey would of continued his form after Christmas last year if he didn't get injured. If he didn't do it you can't make things fit your argument really John he could of gone down injured which lets face it is a major possibility with him

Re: Summer Transfer Window
No, just saying he got 11 upto xmas, irrespective of injury or whatever, he has shown, when fit, he can score in this league pretty comfortably & can achieve 15+ goals in a season. Yeah, he got injured & it's hypothetical but it was only 4 more goals, the potential is there & he's shown it. Wickham hasn't shown to be able score near 15 as of yet & was playing Championship football only last year but because of a three or four game spell, he's now better than Carroll, who's played for England & scored at a major championship. I don't think so. Still time for Wickham to prove to us he can be taken seriously as a striker, so far, he's shown nothing of note. Don't see why he's got so much support, he's decidedly average.
Anyway, wish I never bothered posting on Wickham or Carroll. Think both are average strikers & wasting time discussing them is something I'd rather not continue to do. lol.

At least once a year we have this day, GSC. I've heard you started watching Countdown after Vorderman left, and go on holiday every December due to those awful songs people sing around Christmas.

I'd expect we'll refuse to meet their valuation and end up with Crouch or this french lad Sakho (not Liverpool's) instead.
Considering we have Zarate, Valencia and King Carlton anyway I'd rather we looked at another centre back with the only money we've left to spend, but thats not how our owners work. Glamorous signings are strikers, defenders are dull.

He'll be in France next season. He's expected to retire before he reaches Scotland though.

Re: Summer Transfer Window
As much as it pains me, I agree with John. Wickham isn't as good as he thinks he is. I do think he has talent though.
Since joining us 3 years ago his 1st decent run in the team was at the end of last season. He done great and his goals helped is stay up. To prove himself he has to continue that sort of form. Gus has to give him a fair amount of games up till Christmas. I think we will know more about him then.
Poyet has told him if he doesn't sign an extension then he will be sold.

Riley lacks any sort of sex appeal or sensuality, it'd be like f*cking a particularly boring coat rack. Vorderman would be like f*cking a coat rack that you've had around a LOT longer. They're both dreadful. It's Carroll vs Wickham but for Maths geeks.GSC wrote:Rachel Riley>Vorderman

From what I remember of that name, he's a holding midfielder, likes a tackle & quite strong. what's the fee?
Also, big news on Shola Ameobi. He's just signed a one year deal at Turkish second division club Gaziantep Buyuksehir Belediyespor. Thought I'd let you all know, cos he will be missed in the EPL.

Likes a tackle, thats good, him and Delph together then in that sense.
Fee is around £4.7m.

When we played a couple of pre season games in Texas, Lerner flew from New York to watch the team.
He was saying he wanted to be more involved,(so thats the rumour anyway).
Could have done with him selling at the end of last season.
