We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
First topic message reminder :
Probably much easier to get motivated to play for AC Milan than QPR. But I agree with Crimey (for once ), Taarabt should be fired for misconduct if this is true.

Think this is the worst game I've seen all season. Newcastle are playing on the counter but we're not very good set up like this so no one is doing anything

Rodgers use (or lack of use) of substitutes is one of his most annoying tendencies. This game is crying out for some fresh legs.

Was important to get a couple of wins under our belt after a dodgy start, good to see Fellaini, Herrera and Mata all have a good game. Disappointing to see Di Maria pick up an injury but our injury list is slowly coming down.

well done WHU, halted our run. we were awful. need to bounce back against burnley before our tougher December fixtures.
think bruce will be next managerial casualty.
as for united, they will stroll to a top 4, van gaal is lucky the league is poor this year.

Ugly performance, think we had the only actual chance of the game and even that came from a ridiculously miscued shot to set up the goal. But understrength still and we ground out a result against a form team so definitely happy. 5th.

not sure- Southampton, Everton and Tottenham could slip them up.. i think arsenal are close to being guaranteed with the obvious two. Man U allowed 25 chances against arsernal(that must be a record against them).. and then beat Hull. its not exactly telling stuff yet.

Arsenal are anything but guaranteed, the same problems still exist for them and they just can't beat the top teams on a consistent enough basis, how when we beat them you consider them above us I do not know.
Tottenham and Everton won't be an issue come the end of the season, too hit and miss without players capable of dragging them through.

Spurs will be nowhere near CL qualification come May. They'll be lucky to cement a Europa League spot.
I can see it winding up Chelsea, City, Man Utd and Arsenal. Arsenal always seem to find a way.
Liverpool will stay up.

As far as our coefficient in Europe goes that would be the optimum four, not meant as a slight on Southampton or the other teams but the Champions League is a big step up as City have found out.

Chelsea and City the 2 who are pretty much guaranteed, arsenal likely to get top 4 IMO. Will be more comfortable selecting united as my 4th pick after seeing a few more games but ATM they look good.(hoping it's just been a fluke...). Southampton and west ham obviously likely to fall away over the course of the season, with West Ham falling further away than the saints IMO.

I wouldn't say Utd looked bad until last year for over a decade It must have been ages since they finished outside the top 2 (2005?)

Based on the past 18 years Mysti, Arsenal have only finished above us what 4/5 times so if we're going down that route it favours us to yet again finish above them.
United aren't the only team that need to turn a corner, Arsenal too are in disarray and have been reliant on one player to get them out of jail. They have Sanchez but we have Di Maria and Rooney with Mata, Falcao and Van Persie all capable of single handedly winning a game.

In comparison to our highest level during that period we had seasons when we relatively speaking pretty poor but still either won the title or missed out by no more than one point. Those eager to write us off because of our recent form are also keen to forget how poor Arsenal have been recently, it doesn't add up to me.

Arsenal battered united. 25 shots and 10/on target compared to uniteds 2 on target . sometimes teams lose games they dominate but they normally win them.
To think Sanchez is the player bailing them out is nonsense. Arsenal play and function like a team. United are still learning to find there identity. Both teams have lost 3 games in the PL. Arsenal has lost 4 in 18 if you include the CL.
Arsenal may have started slow. But if you think that they are in a massive dissaray I am not sure what you are basing it on. Don't start Dolph's nonsense that everyone bar Sanchez is rubbish. I will not entertain that nonsense. And I am not an arsenal fan.
The top 4 will probably include all 4. All of us if pushed would include all 4. I will back arsenal 3rd, others may back united 3rd. But I bet all of us with a gun to our heads would pick them as our 3rd and 4th.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
It seems like such a huge misunderstanding of football to think shots means dominance. After a poor spell in the game, United were so comfortable. They were happy to give Arsenal ball in areas that were not of danger and picked them off with ease. It should have been 3-0 before Giroud's magic. Could have been more. United probably had more clear chances than Arsenal.
Moreover, the reason Id back United and not Arsenal is because what United did to Arsenal, Arsenal cannot do to anyone else. They have one way of playing. They were lucky to win today and the match can be summed up by Welbeck's header being poorly dealt with by Foster and Berahino's not getting down enough and hitting the bar.
Again, you are probably in the minority over Arsenal and Sanchez. He has been their saviour. Not to Suarez standards, but he has been their only standout performer.
Man United, with worse injury problems and a season that ended on a huge negative last year, look more capable of picking up points than Arsenal. And soon the shackles of last year will be off them.
The fact of the matter is that United have been poor at times this year and are still ahead of Arsenal and still went there and beat them. In a year where Everton, Spurs and Liverpool have floundered Arsenal are still not in the top four.
They are a team with no ambition and are starting to become a bit pointless to me. They get top four, make no real dent in the Champions League then scrape top four again. It it deemed acceptable and the cycle repeats. Even Stoke got rid of Pulis because the side had stagnated.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
They are clearly in disarray Mysti if they find themselves so far off the pace and to suggest they are on a different level to us based on nothing is nonsense. Their defence is just as non existent, if anything based on the game between the two is probably worse.
They didn't batter us in the slightest, for the most part we comfortable sitting back absorbing their one dimensional forward play, they had two clear cut chances all game. A lot of their shots were speculative that didn't threaten the target so yet again a misrepresentation of the statistics.
Sanchez is bailing them out it's that simple, the defence is terrible without the benefit of a world class goalkeeper, the midfield lacks bite and they don't possess a true top class number nine. Take Sanchez out the team and they would falter more than they already have, 20 points from 13 games is really top notch stuff isn't it, they're in as much trouble as we are.

Will also add that it took a wonder strike from Giroud to score against a defence containing; Valencia, McNair, Blackett, Smalling and Young.

Mysti loves arsenal for some reason.
Although I must say using the fact they made a good number of chances against an inexperienced (teenaged defense) in a game they ended up losing as evidence they aren't terrible/in disarray is one of the more bizarre notions I've seen on this forum.
