Really can't get over the Blackpool result, 2-0 up at half time, 5-2 down at 66 minutes!

hopefully the big sides can avoid each other, not sure i could deal with a repeat of 2004 with United vs Millwall or something like that.

Did Kolarov get a card for his challenge on Bamford in the build up to the second Boro goal? Saw Dowd wave play on, and that was a good decision, but think he should have shown a red for clear goal scoring opportunity. Could it be that he thought losing 2-0 at home twice in a week was punishment enough?
Some amazing results after we basically all moaned about how carp this 4th round draw was. The magic is back!!!

Arsenal or United now favourites, then Liverpool, us, Stoke, Palace.
All we need to do is miss the big teams and see them hit a few Prem sides.

FA cup might of got its magic back, but it's not a top cup anymore. These big sides treating it like what it is, a big distraction to major other objectives. Flying back from the Middle East 24 hours before the game says it all. Hopefully we get a top final but with the top sides now likely to meet before hand, fully expect a United/Milwall type final.

You can't get a red card after an advantage. You have to stop the game if the player is going to be sent off.

Eidur Gudjohnsen looks so old.
Mills should have been sent off.
Playing okay, just lacking final ball as typically the case.

Really, did not know that. So you can get a yellow after the ref plays advantage but not a second yellow by the sound of it. Not sure I necessarily agree with that but hey ho, learn something new every day. Thanks for the info.

Its because the player who will receive the red card could then interfere with play.

Yeah that's not true.
This if from Fifa Rules...
If the enfringement warrants an explusion ,The referee shall stop play and send the player off unless there is a subsequent opportunity to score a goal.

Except that never happens does it. If it's a red card the referee will always pull the play back and show the red card, simple reason being is common sense, imagine they let the advantage go, and it comes to nothing. Theoretically the referee can not do anything to that player until the balls goes dead, during which time anything can happen, he could score for example. I've never seen a referee in 20 years watching football allow an advantage only to pull it back and show a red card.

Yeah but in general referee's interpretation of opportunity to score a goal is very narrow, the ball has to be practically in the net for them to not stop play. See 2005 Champions League semi-final where Cech takes out Liverpool player, Garcia scores.

Re: FA Cup Final Thread - 2014/15 season
You could argue in that situation it's different to what I said Nando, is there any chance of the keeper getting back and saving the shot? No as he's on his back, if it's an outfield player then there is a good chance he could impact the game, just makes sense for referees to stop the game straight away when giving a red card, saves them getting more abuse than they already do.

It's not what was said though just that you can't be red carded with an advantage and he has

Re: FA Cup Final Thread - 2014/15 season
Manchester United are favs for the cup, a smidgen ahead of Arsenal, although both are 3/1 in some places. Liverpool third favs at a best price of 5/1 and then West Ham at 11/1. If you fancy Stoke or Villa to have a run you can get Stoke at 28/1 with Coral, which is a better price than any bookies by at least 8 points, and Villa are 50/1 at Coral.
Mysti can get Palace at 25/1 and Mat can get WBA at 20/1

Some of my friends had palace yesterday at 66/1.
I am not going to take the win market on..
Palace still quite high mind. I would expect that price after the other teams have got through to the next stage , but at present we are the highest ranked team in the next round. Therefore one less game to play.

Mysti - yeah, you were short changed there but I have to say I did enjoy tonight's MOTD. I didn't know any of the results which I always find more enjoyable.
Agree with you about Stead's performance. Brilliantly led the line and held the ball up so well. More than deserved his goal. Injuries and inconsistency probably mean we won't see him again in the Premier League but this was certainly a game he can always look back on with a huge smile.
Man City were lucky that Chelsea's result deflected some of the attention from them. For all Silva's undoubted talent, he doesn't deliver enough for me.
Poor stuff from Spurs as well, making so many changes and then completely chucking it away at the end. Agree with Fowler -I like him, he says it as he sees it and doesn't care about upsetting anyone - that they have only themselves to blame if they lose momentum from this defeat.

Some amazing results after we basically all moaned about how carp this 4th round draw was. The magic is back!!!
Thought the ref was a bit inconsistent with some of his decisions...playing advantage in some cases, while blowing for free kicks in others. On the whole though he didn't have a lot to do...a tribute to the fact both sides played fairly cleanly.
Was surprised how sluggish City were...that trip abroad obviously didn't do them a lot of good. True they had the lion's share of possession, but didn't threaten nearly as much as I thought they would. Gave us a few scares but Mejias was there to pull off a few good saves when they got past our back 4. Closest they came was Lampard's shot that hit the post...quite similar to Tomlin's effort.
Boro were absolutely brilliant! Never looked over-awed or out-classed. Worked tirelessly to close City down and win the ball back. On the defensive for large parts of the game, but got forward several times and gave City plenty of problems.
First goal was scrappy and I was surprised Adomah didn't get booked for running into their keeper, before Bamford scrambled the ball home.
Also thought the "no penalty" call for Ayala's "hand ball" was fair (was definitely ball-to-arm rather than the other way round). Would have been very harsh to award that, even if it was technically correct.
A couple more well-worked moves after that which led to chances for Tomlin's and Vossen, before the one that led to Kike wrapping the game up in stoppage time.
Can't praise the lads highly enough. Wouldn't have given them a hope before kick-off and would have taken 0-0 and a replay at the Riverside. The result is a testament to the team's spirit and work ethic, not to mention Karanka's tactics.
All our players deserve huge credit but Bamford, Tomlin and Adomah were tremendous going forward, while Ayala and Gibson were rocks in defence, with Friend also having a very busy match. Big shout to Mejias too - hasn't played a competitive match in ages, but did very little wrong and made some great saves when called upon.
Should give us a boost for the rest of the league campaign, as well as belief we can go further in the Cup.

Wow!! this is what makes the FA cup magic. No way did I think City, Spurs, and Chelsea would all go out in this round. United or Arsenal for me to lift the cup. There is something really special about seeing a team of has beens and never will bes playing their guts out and somehow pulling off the upset. The FA cup its like Rocky v. Apollo creed over and over again.

Yep, but competent and professional by West Ham, particularly in the second half. After all yesterday's shocks, Big Sam should be more than happy and feel your side must have a real chance in this year's tournament.
Decent performance by Carroll in both penalty areas.
