Advantage is over when you gain an advantage. The kick went about 10 meters so herefore the ref was right.

It wasn't a penalty, it was a knock on, so therefore advantage is over once you kick it.

What are Wales trying to do? It's a bit of a clear and obvious game plan. Nothing like in the autumn series.

England well on top at the moment but really need another score or two to give themselves some breathing space. Don't want to go into the last 5 or 10 with just one score in it.

Marginal IMO.
Think England have gotten away with a couple of the more recent scrums. Both recent resets could have been Wales penalties.

are you suggesting a tackler, on the ground, can play the ball? if he gets up then his is "any other player" once he rejoins. supporting body weight rule applies for everyone who wants to put their hands on the ballMike Selig wrote:quinsforever wrote:here you go mike selig

After a tackle, all other players must be on their feet when they play the ball. Players are on their feet if no other part of their body is supported by the ground or players on the ground.
"All other players" (i.e. neither the tackler nor the tackled player) being the key phrase. I.e. doesn't refer to the tackler. As I said, the concept of a tackler not supporting his weight makes no sense. By definition a tackler has gone to ground.
Yellow card entirely correct BTW. Blatant penalty in the red zone. Good decision.

I think we are now arguing semantics. I agree that any player not supporting his feet at the breakdown shouldn't play the ball or indeed interfere in anyway. However the original post said the tackler not supporting his weight was an offence. I was merely pointing out that this is an absurdity.
I don't like people nitpicking officials' decisions overall. I think Garces has had a decent game, it's been fair and balanced, and no major howlers. Given how complex the sport is to referee I think that's as good as you can hope for.

It's awful, he really has to be off the pitch for his own welfare. Knocked out twice in one game- time to go.

Re: Wales v England - 6 February 2015 - Match thread
you were the one nitpicking. anyone playing the ball cannot lie on players on the ground. tackler or 2nd tackler or next entrant to the ruck. saying there is no rule that tackler cant lie on the player on the ground irrelevant once tackler tries to play the ball.Mike Selig wrote:quinsforever wrote:are you suggesting a tackler, on the ground, can play the ball? if he gets up then his is "any other player" once he rejoins. supporting body weight rule applies for everyone who wants to put their hands on the ballMike Selig wrote:quinsforever wrote:here you go mike selig

Very harsh in my opinion. That obstruction didnt really have an impact on the play it's a matter of interpretation I suppose.

Since when was a TMO allowed to tell the ref that he should look at a reason not to award the try, I thought the referee had to call on the TMO's services ?

hmmmm. That could have gone either way IMO. Undoubtedly obstruction, but did it have (enough of) an effect on the game? For me, in the end probably not clear and obvious enough, but not that fussed either way, but big big call.
