I like Mason. His high pressing style is something we don't get enough from English midfielders.

Love Defoe, and I shouldn't as he's not well liked at our place.

Aye he does, keane has nearly twice as many goals and over 100 pl goals to boot.
You don't manage that without good ability.
I'm not saying he was Poopie, I just don't think he was that good. He flopped at a few places and I don't think he was as good as Defoe or Kanoute for example
Still had plenty of talent. Scored goals which most other players couldn't have.
Not sure of that last bit. Still, he eked out what he had but I don't think he had a great deal

Keane and Defoe have the same amount of pl goals.
Like Defoe, good finisher and poacher but feel keane offered more in terms of link up play and work in behind.
Not a lot between them.
Also enjoyed kanoute at Sevilla, wouldn't say he had more ability than keane though. Not by a significant margin anyway.

There's loads! Just don't go to Spurs. Defoe kind of deserved it, but most of it is panto now really. He was young and obnoxious, poorly-advised too. Joey never really got booed, Konchesky is always well thought of, and Bobby Z n Green generally get a good reaction

I'd have said the opposite, Defoe was always especially dangerous carrying the ball too.
Kanoute was also extremely talented, but never had the pace behind. Cracking footballer, but he was far more inconsistent.

I like Carrick, most do, he stayed when we went down so wasn't questioned as much for joining Spurs. Rio gets stick but is generally liked really. Etherington always gets a weird amount of fondness

Strange how perceptions differ, I'd always had keane down as a bit of a maverick, mercurial and inconsistent. A work horse was the last thing I'd have thought of him as.

Firstly Carrick is a top class bloke for a footballer, there are absolutely negatives to his character.
Keane was anything but a work horse and myself would say he was a better player than Defoe who is and always was just a very good poacher.

Defoe was the best clean striker of a shot with no time on the ball. He needs no backlift for power and scored some great goals outside the box that weren't wonder hits and hard to repeats, but clear technique and things he could consistently replicate. His dribbling was always brilliant too.

Heard you were after Tiote for around £7m, if Song doesn't make it permanent this summer.

skrtl has denied a charge against him for his blatantly obvious stamp on de gea. Hope he get's twice the ban when he is eventually found guilty.

Like I said at the time, I think there is significant doubt as to whether it was deliberate. I obviously don't know if it was, but it wasn't the same as the Gerrard one, there was no unnatural leg movement, it was all apart of his stride and I can understand why its been appealed.

I think he knew exactly what he was doing personally. Same as the Rooney kick out on Mingolet, although the stamp being far more dangerous.

He could easily have hurdled De Gea's leg but because he's a little scumbag he made the conscience decision to stamp on him instead and it is indefensible aside from a select few biased Liverpool fans.

He was obviously second favourite for the ball by quite some distance and just runs into/onto him.

I don't know whether it was intentional or not, but I think when looking at it, there can be significant doubt as to whether there was intent.
I'm not 100% certain of the FA's rules in this case, but if they do have to prove it by all reasonable doubt (which I'm not sure sure they do) I don't think based on the video evidence they can find him guilty. His eyes never look down to De Gea's leg and he doesn't make any movement he wouldn't have if De Gea wasn't there.

Yeah but he could have just not ran onto him when he was well away from getting the ball.

My first reaction having just seen it, is that its clumsy rather than intentional. Looks like he does try to avoid it (you can tell by how he ends up not actually using his entire foot to stamp him as you would if it were intentional).

He's left a bit on him, he is never getting to that ball and has made no effort to avoid him or hurdle him. You don't need to stamp down on someone to deliberately make contact with them.

Re: We Go Again! The 2014/15 Premier League Thread
You don't need to look down to stamp on someone?! I've just watched it again, he's frustrated because de gea is coming across to gather the ball confirming liverpools loss in probably their biggest game of the season. He knows where de gea's momentum iis taking him (into his path), and stamps on his leg. No way has he done that by accident. If he really didn't want to make contact with de gea1, he had plenty of time to jump over him. Dirty player. Retrospective ban.

I deliberately kicked a keeper really hard, not looking at him but knowing full well what I'd done. It looked like an accident and I only mentioned it on here last year, four years after it happened. It was the dirtiest challenge I've ever made, three red cards worth. It's easy to stamp on someone without looking.
