First topic message reminder :

Now the season is over, the rumours begin!

Milner/Ings to Liverpool seems likely.
Benitez to Real Madrid, Bale staying.
Falcao is desperate to move to Chelsea.
Otamendi and Dani Alves to Manchester United.
Raheem Sterling to Arsenal

What else?

Rooney appalling  picard . Astonishing how little Wayne is appreciated, given the circumstances in which he found himself this season.

Wish you had to put up with an Obertan or a Williamson, they're the definition of appaling.

Rooney ends up top league scorer, plays the majority of games in midfield, whereby he sacrificed himself for the greater good of the club, in the attempt to achieve the primary goal of a top 4, which was achieved.

Clearly appalling, Ent.

Apparently, Liverpool looking to push forward a deal for Charlie Austin, with Rickie Lambert included in the deal

Arsene is bringing out the banter this summer.

Get's linked with Schneiderlin/Vidal etc & today it's Ki Sung Yeung Laugh

Surprisingly i quite like Ki expecting him as Arteta replacement.

i understand in the context of newcastle clearly rooney is better than that standard, but neither are you paying obertan or williamson 350,000 a week and making them club captain.

rooney was very poor in midfield, better when up front but was only doing a average job, nothing other than the likes of bit part players like Hernandez could have done. criticism comes because everybody tells us he's our best player, yet hasn't performed to that elite standard since 11/12 season

there was no 'small stint' about it. more like a prolonged period, huge media scrutiny for months regarding his positioning & then fan pressure on LVG to change it. at the end of the day, he sacrificed his own game for the greater good & you achieved fourth. He's ageing now, so is never going to recapture form of three or four years ago. just think the criticism is harsh, judging by the fact he has to carry a whole bunch of awfulness that he's surrounded by on the pitch.

if he's been carrying us, why wasnt he voted our player of the year. why wasnt he even close to being in the running being outperformed by the likes of ashley young!

Poor old Carlton ;(

Rooney was the only striker Man United had who made any contribution. De Gea and Carrick were better than him, that's really it. Young was only good by the low expectations, whilst Herrera and Fellaini were good for a small spell. Blind maybe had a better season, but it was a sheer incompetent race for 4th that let United get away with falling over the line into 4th.

Benteke has a get-out clause, reported as £32.5m.

Ings will decide his next club before he joins up with the England U21s.

Liverpool fail with £10m bid for Clyne.

Mentioned it on the podcast last night but with sterling wanting out and Arsenal being one of the clubs keen why doesn't Liverpool look to get Walcott as part of the deal, he's become a bit part player now at Arsenal yet could flourish under Liverpool's style of play.

Tottenham sign Wimmer, add to the fact they've tried to sign Trippier & Ings, you can already guarantee next season is a failure. Where's the ambition with these types of signings? Club going nowhere.

As for Liverpool, just further embarrassing themselves, with pathetic bids, that are massively undervaluing a player. Another club going nowhere.

To be fair Nathaniel Clyne is entering the last year of his contract so would naturally come cheaper.

Theo Walcott would be good, but is he fit? Hard to tell if he has recovered from his injuries.

I think the point with signing Benteke is the fact that our style isn't necessarily working, but I do think that Benteke is actually a bit limited as a forward, Aston Villa struggled when they weren't giving him a lot of service and I think the same will happen if he came to Liverpool. I also don't think he's worth £32.5 million.

I just don't think he'd link well with the Sturridge/Sterling/Coutinho three way. He's more of a lump it upto me and we'll play off me which isn't the way the top teams play or have to play.

£32 million is also ludicrous money for him

Hi Olly sorry to jump on your thread, apparently the One Boro Forum has said that Norwich has given the Boro the full Wembley gate receipts, due to receiving the £120 mill promotion money, if that's true what a great gesture.

Benteke is exactly what Liverpool need. Hold up play, running behind, physicality and a pretty decent goals record in a team that doesnt create loads. They have enough of the same type of player, they need some variation.

Bidding £10mil for Clyne is a bit ridiculous, he'll cost at least that and as we found out with Baines, if you start insultingly low then it becomes far harder to come to an agreement.

Think that's harsh on Spurs. Like Arsenal ten years ago, they're going to be handicapped by paying for a new stadium for the next few seasons. Their also likely to be a bit gunshy about splashing out big abroad after the disaster that was the 2013 summer transfer window. They're not the biggest wage payers anyway, don't have Champions League football, so aren't the most attractive proposition.

Ings would be an upgrade on Adebayor/Soldado, but is likely to go to Liverpool anyway.

Again, his contract has only a year left and he doesn't look like he is planning to a sign a new one. That will mean that they will have to sell him most likely under value, or risk losing him for free.

Is he worth £20 million? I don't think so, but possibly in the current climate, considering he's English, young and would be another player sold from Southampton to Liverpool. So if you then add the fact that he's in his last year, £10 million isn't too ridiculous, maybe a few million under what he should be sold for, but not insultingly low at all.

Bild reporting that FC Bayern will complete the signing of BVB Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan tomorrow. If true it's an excellent signing for FC Bayern as we need fresh legs in the middle of the park. I'm all for signing the best German players, that said BVB will be bitterly disappointed.

Now if only we could 'steal' Mats Hummels and Marco Reus...

disappointing move in my eyes. moving from dortmund to bayern is so predictable. he's won everything in germany already, he might challenge for champions league more often now, but it's just a nothing move really. i'd rather see him challenge himself in another competitive league & show some more ambition, instead of seeing his old dortmund weakened & seeing the bundesliga wrapped up by xmas. since his injuries hasnt been the player he was, might regain it under pep, before he jumps ship. guess bastian will be moving on now, cough old trafford.

I disagree entirely. By joining FC Bayern(holding my breath) it helps with national team selection, which after missing the World Cup would be very important for Gundogan. If he does replace Bastian Schweinsteiger, it's a massive show of faith by FC Bayern as Gundogan has been injured a lot in the last 18-24 months. Coupled with the fact Schweinsteiger is the captain of Germany. Massive shoes to fill.

I totally disagree, £10 million isn't his value, but as a starting bid it is a long way from insulting. They don't have to sell players to raise funds, but to allow him to run his contract down so they get nothing would be stupid when they could between £10-£15 million for him now.

The thing is we all know that Southampton are not gonna be interested in £10m, so Liverpool must have known.

It's a starting big, I think it's pretty clear Liverpool didn't think it was going to be accepted, it's a bid essentially to declare interest in the player. I'm assuming what Liverpool want is for Clyne to push for the deal to get him out, forcing Southampton's hand, meaning they can get a lower deal.

Liverpool will not be the first or the last team to bid lower then the value of the player at the very beginning. It's far from an insulting bid though.

I read that he has the same agent as Jose Mourinho so i think you are correct there.
