2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
Seems as though Joe Cole has been released by West Ham, might be a solid bargain for a lower league team if hes prepared to drop

Possibly if he can't get the offer he likes. Imagine he'll be sticking around London if he doesn't.
Could do a job in the Championship I think, the reinvention of Andy Reid shows technically gifted players can succeed.

Rumors a few months ago was that he was signing for us, we did Wayne Bridge a world of good, before Reading screwed him up. Could work the same for Cole ... But yeah QPR seems the most realistic tbf

Cole will go to QPR or Lille. I just wish we'd used him once in his correct position, but no one displaces Nolan.
We're being linked to all and sundry, strongest links to Colback, McCormack and, bizarrely, Alex Song. But as the club want another 9 days to decide if Sam will be our manager then I guess we'll miss the early traffic.

With the Bendy bus heading out of the Emirates door. It's appears we have/are activating Carlos Vela's buy back clause of 3.3m

Vela
Truly awful in my opinion, vs United this season for Sociedad he was terrible. La Liga is easier to improve your stats, as he has done, but he will bring nothing significant back to Arsenal. To me, that shows a lack of imagination from Arsenal.
Aurier to Arsenal looks a certainty.

For 3.3m it gives us a pacy option that we don't really need since we have Chamberlain/Walcott & Gnabry. Better then Bendtner & Sanogo though.

Hes probably a neater player than all three, though granted nowhere near as good as the first two. Maybe Santi is as frustrated as he stated?

I think it'll be Podolski out the door tbh Dolph.

New deal, schmoo deal, although I don't really think he'll be going anywhere. Next season maybe. I do worry for Arsenal if they miss top four and Wenger calls time.

That is definitely a Van Gaal target.
Shaw, Strootman, Kroos, Reus and Garay will do for starters, will only cost about a mere £150mil for those five.
Wouldn't be surprised if we went for Martins Indi too, back up for left back and an option at centre back.

Certainly but now he's shown he can dominate in a higher regarded league than the Dutch one.

Not sure I buy £30 million for strootman.
We are linked to home every year.
More concerned with how long it's taking to confirm van gaal.

He'll be in by the end of the day Ent.
If you think being linked to someone is bad trying being an Arsenal fan. We get linked to Benzema/Di Maria/Draxler etc and end up with Sanogo.

No, I'm talking about the worst winger in the history of the EPL. Can't cross, can't pass, can't shoot & cost us around £3m. Initials GO. Simply terrible.

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
£30m for Strootman is a risk, given his injury, but he's good enough & provides the power & strength centrally. He's only 24 too & with Shaw, can fill positions for the next 5-10 years. I had question marks over Garay but everytime I've seen him over the last year, he looks strong & very reliable. Benfica achieving back-to-back Europa League finals just shows how good a defender he is, hopefully he can strike up a partnership with Evans, like he has done with Luisao.

Was reading Match magazine from December 2010. Villa lead the race for Benzema and Everton were going to go for Cavani and break their transfer record.

Wished it was that exciting at St. James` Park. Back in December 2010, we were linked with David Wheater, Stephen Ireland, Shaun Wright-Phillips & Nigel Reo-Coker.
As for 2014, Saido Berahino is a target now. Wouldn't mind him to bolster the attack & add some young English spirit back in the squad, even though he's from Burundi

As I said the only way I see him staying is if the guy who was going to bring him to Celtic ends up in Norwich...

Re: 2014 Summer Transfer Window Thread
I'm not so sure Lennon could keep Snodgrass, he could but I'm not sure working woth Lennon supercedes going home, I don't think its about money or about football as such, from what I was told back in January he felt he needed to come home, I think his mrs horrendous car crash last year might have something to do with it. I do think Lennon tho' would be a big influence in keeping Gary Hooper at the club if he goes moves to Norwich....please God

Yeah, Andros is on the radar. We need a winger, if HBA leaves. Andros` low wage also makes him more appealing for Ashley. Glad we are moving, in some ways, away from bringing in just French players.
