First topic message reminder :

GavinDragon wrote:I don't need to address anything, I am one fan with an opinion the same as you and any other fan.

Sure, but here I am trying to understand your opinion yet, sadly, you won't address a key element of it.

Previously you wrote: "Only sad, narrow minded parochial people stuck in the amateur era mindset would see gwent as something in direct competition to newport." so I wrote a detailed, honest and clear answer as to why that insult is misplaced.

It's misplaced because one club is carrying all of the risk but with only 50% ownership.

Do you think it fair that one club carries all of the financial risk, without total ownership, for a "Gwent" team? Sure, you don't need to address the question but, in all fairness, it will speak volumes if you don't address it.

You should be happy. I think there is a good chance the "Newport Two" will be Cardiff players after this season

More chance of Pontypridd being anywhere near a big boys league ever again than that happening...

Yeah. We are a competitive team in a pointless league. You are a pointless team in a competitive league. Both us have to suck it up...

Back to the rugby...I genuinely do think what with only two players out at the start of the season and the fact that Cardiff have a new coach which may take time to turn things around...the Dragons could be looking at a top 9 finish. Lets just hope your backroom problems what with the identity and funding thing going sorts itself out thumbsup

I am optimistic this season. Think we will finish 7th which will be an improvement on previous years.

I am not sure if being in the Champions Cup would be a good thing as our squad would be outclassed in every game. That being said, I am sure the revenue would be worth it.

Maybe the four of you from the Ponty massive could teach the dog to type?

I did wonder this myself Phil so typed it in to Wikipedia

Wiki quote: "Gwent Dragons. Consistently unsuccessful team in the Pro12 rugby tournament. Produce extremely limited amount of players for the Welsh national team. If promotion and relegation happened in Welsh rugby they would have had played quite a lot of rugby in the Welsh Premiership."

Hope that clears it up thumbsup

Sadly not.

Gwent Dragons went into administration in 2003 as it didn't include Newport supporters.

So does that mean the Newport lot would refuse treatment at the Royal Gwent Hospital then?

Ditto. I don't know how Steph can make such assumptions.

Then again, he clearly thinks a team from the Premiership should've replaced the Dragons, so there's little hope for him.

Erm no I never said you should be replaced I merely pointed out that if there was promotion or relegation the Dragons would have been relegated at some point. Fortunately for you lot the Pro12 is ring fenced and you could finish rock bottom with no points and still not suffer for it

In reality I think you should merge with the Blues and form an East Wales region. That's just my opinion though

So if there was relegation, where would the team come from then? Mars?

I stand corrected Smile

Good luck for the the season though lads

Despite the Ponty (yes I have used the P word on this occasion) hatred from Stone, Risca and Munkian and that 'we don't care about your little backwater club but we bash them all the time' I would say you lot are the most popular "region" at Sardis due to your underdog spirit at times

My Cardiff Blues mates all say they are gonna do you this season though so give them a nice surprise for me Smile

Best of luck to Ponty! Went up to watch them vs Bristol (?) in BIC a few years back. Great atmosphere. Very sad that you wont be playing in that competition this year.

If we finish below Blues this year, unless the Blues finish 6th or above, Lyn Jones needs to go

You know the rules and so do I

A full commitment's what I'm thinking of

You wouldn't get this from any other guy

I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling

Gotta make you understand

Never gonna give you up
Never gonna let you down
Never gonna run around and desert you
Never gonna make you cry
Never gonna say goodbye
Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

Anyone know when we're going to offload Gus? He isn't a hooker, though he could probably play there alright in the premiership.

You and your crew will only troll it.

Why would a Dragons fan want to comment on a Pontypridd thread?

Why would a Dragons fan want to comment on a Pontypridd thread?

Why would a Ponty fan want to comment on a Dragons thread more to the point

Well...him and his boyfriend did thumbsup

And it certainly wasn't to discuss the game that's for sure
