Morning Rick, inevitable Villa based disappointment aside it was decent. I went to an art exhibition Saturday, in Rotherham, it's not just all noncing kids and EDL marches round here I'll have you know.
How was yours, little late in the day but fine result for the toon.

Great result, which kind of makes it more irritating to be honest, though I have no love for spurs so was happy that Arsenal finished above them to be honest.
Watched a bit of the boxing on Saturday, thought Hasking fought well, and then cruiserweight fight afterwards was a beast of a fight, but a home town robbery.
What was the Art?

Never heard of the guy to be honest, but just had a quick look at some of his stuff, and it looks like something I could get behind, I quite like the cartoony style.
I forgot the boxing was on, it just so happened to be on TV when I got in from the pub.

Could have done with Tina with me. The originals were about £1500 a pop. Bit out of my league but peanuts to a man of his means.

Probably wallpapers the nursery with them mate.
A friend of mine that I was at university with, is a very good artist, Scott Naismith, based out of Glasgow, nice guy too, you should check him out. Though a lot different in style to the one you went to. Really bright colours and mainly impressionism.

I like dark and menacing stuff like Caravaggio. I can't afford him though. Think I've told you this before, but a work colleague here bought an Rolf Harris piece back before he was a nonce. We are not sure if it's gone up or down in value since. Interesting one.
Anyway, good morning.

Hitler and Charles Manson's stuff goes for loads, far more than their quality merits. Maybe there is a tipping point where your horribleness becomes of a sufficient level to make your art valuable. Harris maybe fell a bit short.

Never been Rick. If you do end up going there is a quite wonderful farm shop in Barnsley. Go there as well then even if the park lets you don't the day is not a complete failure.

Adam you've actually said something I'm interested at last. Me and TSMR always go for a weekend away and some posh snap for big anniversaries. It's our 15th next year and we we considering the Kitchin. Tell me more about it, would it be recommended, are there places to stay local, how close to Edinburgh centre etc.

Re: The Culture Cup Round x - Adam is a naughty naughty boy
The Kitchin is in Leith which is about a 20 minute (man)/ 40 minute (woman) walk from the centre of Edinburgh. Its like a Scottish Camden in its hipster stakes. Its bizzare as the water front is really stunning but two roads away, its like the bronx.
The Royal Yacht Britannia is nearby too. Additional info - we didnt walk back and it cost us 8.60 in a black cab (I generously rounded it up to £9 but I understand that you are from Yorkshire so it would cost about £8,60).
We went for lunch which was a set menu at £30 a head for 3 courses, although I think they have a 6 course taster menu for £50.
Before you start your three courses, you get some thin breadstick things (4 varieties, squid ink, fennel, Rosemary and Honey) with a creme fraich salmon dip. Then you get an appetizer of cold carrot soup with apple and lime. Sounds horrible but was amazing. Then some of the finest bread I have ever tasted. I was sweating at this point thinking that we would be charged for everything but it was all free.
For starters, I had a chicken terrine with chicken parfait and gem lettuce topped with pesto. The wife had Squid tortellini in a consume.
Main course was pork loin and pork belly with roasted veg. It came with a black olive sauce but they gave me a pork jus as I am not fond of olives. For dessert, we both had a lemon curd souffle.
The wines ranged from £35 to stupid money (had over 50 different bottles to choose from). He had his own beer from Skye breweries which came in at £6.50 for a 500ml bottle. It was very good though. Smaller bottles of other stuff were around the £5. They do tap water you will be glad to know.
We arrived at 2pm and left at 4pm. Didnt feel rushed, felt stuffed at the end, even though the portions were not huge, as is the way with fancy food. And the place was packed.
Very enjoyable experience and would do it again.

Jeff - give me a shout if you do decide to go to Edinburgh. Used to live about 20 minutes walk away from the Kitchin and have plenty of recommendations for places to stay, eat and drink.
Beautiful city and the Shore area (which is very near the Kitchin) is fantastic on a nice summer's evening.

My mate worked in Edinburgh a few years ago and lived just outside Leith, I can confirm that the waterfront area is lovely and that the walk through from his flat was like Hieronymous Bosch's worst nightmares brought to lifeAdam D wrote:The Kitchin is in Leith which is about a 20 minute (man)/ 40 minute (woman) walk from the centre of Edinburgh. The child is due on Thursday, and I might have believed that had my dad not been caught coming out of the bathroom with a pregnancy kit showing a negative result and subsequently phoned a hertford number. You really should stop trying to cuckold me in the dark, because A I don't keep my wives in the house (under the don't sh*t where you eat principle) and B - Dad is the only one who stays here in the dark because of the time he spent in a cave during operation desert storm

Ham and coleslaw sandwich, no soup, plain crisps.
It appears these savages don't make soup in summer, and a nice fresh broth or some such is beyond them, with only wintery fare available soup wise... Gimps.

Re: The Culture Cup Round x - Adam is a naughty naughty boy
Went to some chain pub at the weekend and paid through the nose for average food at extraordinary(ily expensive) prices. My daughter decided she didn't want her coleslaw or spicy sauce that she choose so dumped it on my plate. Surprisingly, the mixture of the two was most satisfying, but not nearly enough to make me forget I'd paid over the f*cking odds for the rest of it.
Best coleslaw I ever had (there's a way to start a conversation) was at the greyhound races in Sheffield. Rowley may now go f*ck himself as that's as Northern as owt
