Canelo Vacates
Surprise surprise. Clear and utter sick of a supposed Hype Train in GGG.
Some Mexican.
Disappointed but not surprised.
I may quit boxing. It's a Frak state. Drugs, mismatches, ducking, corrupt judges. Frak joke.

Canelo Alvarez to give up the WBC middleweight title
http://ringtv.craveonline.com/news/422583-canelo-alvarez-to-give-up-the-wbc-middleweight-title
Canelo Alvarez will vacate the WBC middleweight title, he said in a statement released Wednesday afternoon.
Alvarez said he plans to continue negotiations to fight Gennady Golovkin but wasn’t willing to abide by the deadline set by the WBC. Thus, he plans to give up the belt.
“After much consideration, today, I instructed my team at Golden Boy Promotions to continue negotiating a fight with Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin and to finalize a deal as quickly as possible,” the statement reads. “I also informed the WBC that I will vacate its title. For the entirety of my career, I have taken the fights that no one wanted because I fear no man. Never has that been more true than today. I will fight ‘GGG,’ and I will beat ‘GGG’ but I will not be forced into the ring by artificial deadlines. I am hopeful that by putting aside this ticking clock, the two teams can now negotiate this fight, and ‘GGG’ and I can get in the ring as soon as possible and give the fans the fight they want to see.”
Said Golden Boy Promotions Chairman and CEO Oscar De La Hoya:
“There is no denying that Canelo is the biggest star in the sport of boxing. He is eager to get in the ring with ‘GGG’ to show the world that he is also the best pound for pound fighter in the sport, but we won’t negotiate under a forced deadline. Now that the WBC title is off the table, I am hopeful that ‘GGG’ and his promoter K2 Promotions will come to the table in good faith and get this deal done.”
Alvarez also is the RING middleweight champion.

Yes, just read this on The Ring's website.
Canelo says that he isn't willing to abide to the deadline set by the WBC, so his response is to vacate while still in negotiations with GGG?

Re: Canelo Vacates
I am completely and utterly unsurprised by this. Alvarez was never going to fight Golovkin as he views him as too dangerous a challenge. He can still make big money fighting light middles and blown-up welters for far less risk and look impressive doing so. Talk about picking on someone your own size. He's a bully and nothing more.
It's Golovkin I feel sorry for. He's really trying to unify the belts in the division he is comfortable in, yet the most eligible opponent is too frightened to risk facing him. I hope that GGG now fights Jacobs and then goes for Saunders' WBO bauble too. It'd be great to see him get all the belts. Maybe Canelo can come sniffing for a payday when he's cleaned out everyone at "155"...
I don't think I have seen a more blatant duck since Bowe put the WBC belt in the bin...

Re: Canelo Vacates
Why didn't Canelo ask Sulamain for an extension to the deadline?
This fight never happens at 160..
Hope K2 move on now from Canelo. The real fight is with Eubank.
Stevenson now Canelo, two of boxing's blue riband divisions being ruined by paper champs. And it's the fans as usual who suffer.
Will we ever be able to believe a word Oscar De La Hoya ever says again?
Mexican fans can't be too proud of their boy, wonder if they'll dump him. Imagine what they'd be calling Golovkin if it was he who handed over his belt.

Im still optimistic the fight will be made. They are certainly setting themselves up for a fall with these statements if the fights doesnt happen. The fight is big enough to not need belts and is a risky fight for Canelos career, maybe he doesnt want to waste money on sanctioning fees?

I'd like to see GGG go up to 168 now. Has all the belts that matter, even if he won one in an office.

Or maybe he'll feel better about his chances a year or two down the line? Even Tyson - who was given the run around by Spinks - wasn't this avoided.
The only thing that gets this made is Canelo's pride - but even that only goes so far (as we saw with Frampton/Rigo). GBP would much prefer Pacquiao/Bradley/Matthysse etc.
All Golovkin can do is fight the next highest rated guy. That's leaves him just Jacobs or Saunders. He's beaten the rest.

I think from their point of view, the same thing could happen again. Probably safer holding all of the middleweight titles and fighting at '68 ad-hoc (he probably doesn't even need to bulk up that far with the power he has).

Well he hasn't actually avoided him yet has he? For sure, we all expect noises to come back that ggg made outrageous demands and priced himself out, forcing Canelo to pursue other avenues and sign to fight p4p star Roman Gonzales at 155 Caneloweight.
But as yet, that hasn't happened.

No but it doesn't take Mystic Meg, to predict he will avoid him.
I actually blame Oscar. He mouthed off about other fighters ducking, but he makes his cash cow do the same.
The sad thing is, Oscar was the opposite as a fighter. I have a lot of respect for him as a boxer, but as a promoter? He is the same as the rest of the snakes.

Ducky McDuckFace
Joke. Wish some anti ginger racist would give him a kicking.
"I want to negotiate on my terms" which in ginger retarded ducky mcduckface language is "I'll demand 99.99% of the purse so GGG can't take the fight". Saying that would be funny if GGG agreed to fight him for free.

Maybe ditching the titles means canelo is not bound by wbc regulations so they can force the 155 catchweight and make more demands. Its dreadful what canelo is doing with boxing though. Making up his own rules as he goes along. Whats next? He gets to pick who trains his opponent and where they have camp?

So where does Canelo go from here if he doesn't fight GGG? GGG can at least look to fight Jacobs for the vacant belt.

Re: Canelo Vacates
He has vacated the belt so he Can progress his negotiations at 155lbs I absolutely guarantee.
The fight will get made but it will be at catchweight. GGG won't fight for the MW title at 155lbs because he respects the sport and its history.
He just thinks he can now entice GGG with a large pay day and attempt to beat a weight drained fully fledged MW when Canelo comes in the ring heavier than Carl Frak Froch.
The guy is a joke.

GGG fans wouldn't accept him fighting a lippy idiot 2 divisions below him, who is barely even top 5 In his division.
He wants to clear out middleweight. He isn't huge at 160. The man could probably fight at 154 if he choose too. Canelo is actually bigger Than Gennady.
He looks bigger and I bet his ring weight is heavier as well.

He wants big money. Degale or other 168 fighters don't offer the same hype/money as Alveraz.

Re: Canelo Vacates
Saunders rejected a pretty good offer to take on Golovkin already. I dont see him accepting the fight. Had Andy Lee beaten Saunders, I think he would have had the mettle to try Golovkin. Would have been a pretty big fight in the States. A pity in many ways he didnt hold onto the belt. Hes not as outspoken as the likes of Eubank and Saunders but when push comes to shove I think hes far more willing to actually fight anyone in the ring rather than over twitter.

Canelo has mastered the art of dropping huge amounts of weight to weigh in, before piling it back on before the first bell. I think I'm correct in saying that - when pictured alongside Golovkin - Canelo is the same size as GGG. This seems to be evidenced in their 30 day check weights before a fight (both scaled around 164 lbs prior to their most recent bouts).
Evidence suggests that both Golovkin and Canelo are small middleweights (though still huge compared to previous eras prior to the day before weigh in rule).
Canelo has always sought to face the best opponents, as you've stated. So what's changed? Golovkin has never had an issue negotiating a fight previously - so what gives now?
And which top operator has Golovkin missed at middleweight? Martinez - whose promoter Lou DiBella publicly admitted they wanted no part of GGG - and who else?
Like Canelo, Golovkin offered to fight Mayweather at junior middleweight. But Floyd didn't want the fight. So, yes, great, Canelo fought Mayweather but the fight only happened because Floyd knew it was an easy night for a lot of money.
Canelo, like Floyd before him, is in an position of privilege. He can fight who he wants, when he wants, at whatever weight he wants. Golovkin meanwhile sees nothing but closed doors. One guy has everything his own way (like Floyd) and the other does it the hard way and you criticise the latter?
I have no issue with Alvarez staying at 155 for his whole career beating up on the likes of Khan and Bradley. But he should come out and say that rather than inviting Golovkin into the ring and making statements like "we don't f@&£ about!" They should abandon his linear claims and crack on at 155.
I'd also be quite happy for Golovkin to round out his career at 160 - defending the middleweight crown in the manner Hagler and Monzon did before him.

I've also found fighters are more likely to fight their mandatory when they bin the belt which the mandatory wants
