The other thread is coming to an end and I think it's nice to have a new memory to take us through this year.
And with the new season starting today, what better time to refresh things and start again. The preamble of pre-season is over: 2016/17 LETS BE AVIN YA

Two games City lost last year Stoke away and Ham at home bring 6 points..
Look better going forward but still crap at the back.

I don't think there is one top defence in this league, Truss.

Re: 5000-1 - The 2016/17 Premier League thread
Three games in, the best four teams in the league look to me to be Chelsea, City, United and Liverpool.
Very hard to say which of them has the best prospects of winning the league. United have looked best so far - Rooney and Zlatan have looked fantastic and they have 6 world class options for their front four positions.
City getting rid of Hart still seems like madness to me. He had a bad Euros but he's been fantastic for them for several years. Quite why Liverpool aren't in for him I don't understand - he's leagues above Karius and Mignolet currently and could turn them into genuine title contenders. He's also, in my view, better than Bravo.

Whilst Liverpool are starting James Milner and Dejan Lovren in their defence they're never going to challenge for the title
Quite why they haven't sorted their defence out this summer I don't know

Obvious red for Aguero today. Not sure why Danny Murphy is suggesting it's a yellow!

Re: 5000-1 - The 2016/17 Premier League thread
Liverpool still look a few players short imo, a proven fit striker and a better defence. Chelsea getting Kante is a real jigsaw finisher, Hazard as well looks back to his best. Same for City with Sterling, being that the likes of Kompany, Gundongan and Sane are yet to play shows depth to their squad and Utd look to have that ability again to turn draws into wins, the fear is returning about the club.

Not convinced that Liverpool will even make top four to be honest.
Karius was voted second best goalkeeper in the Bundesliga last season, only behind Neuer and he's also 6 years younger than Hart and on a fraction of the wages. Had Karius not been signed I'd be all for going for Hart, but as it is I'm not sure it's actually worth it.

Everton and Sunderland will both have a look, I'd venture. If he wants to go on loan then he should go abroad and work on his footwork.

Yes the current squad doesn't look up to it and no new signings appear forthcoming for much needed positions. On an unrelated note, will expect a much improved midfield performance when Can returns and can replace the passenger that is Wijnaldum! Can't remember him doing anything of note in his 3 appearances, unless you count slow sideways passing and being well off the pace off the game as being of note.. Not quite sure why he was signed as he is a downgrade in CM and we already have ample players in what i understand to be his best position. Saying that with only 3 games under his belt in a new team he is likely to improve. Not first choice material as it stands though.

I still think Wij has been better than future England captain Henderson

Re: 5000-1 - The 2016/17 Premier League thread
Not from what I have seen of the games. Henderson at least contributes occasionally (sad when that is all you can say of your captain) where as in every game I literally wouldn't even know Wij was on if i didn't see the team sheet at the start! With Can at CDM would expect Henderson to move into the spot Wij currently fills, and he can take up a spot on the bench. Would like to see him get a run in a more advanced position in midfield but there isn't much room there with Lallana/Coutinho/Firminho/Mane.

Re: 5000-1 - The 2016/17 Premier League thread
Some of Liverpool's attacking play is reminiscent of the 2013/14 season under Rodgers and I don't recall Sturridge busting a gut too often then yet he was still the highest scoring Englishman in the league. I can see where Klopp's coming from in preferring Firmino's attitude to that of the Studge but FFS sometimes, you just need to have that quality on the pitch as he's smart enough to be in the right place at the right time.
Failing that, Dan's gonna need to buck his idea's up.

Can definitely see him trying Sterling in that role, he's played it before.

Bit random but the cars Leicesters players got from the owner are being modded by a company owned by Andy Cole & Marlon Harewood

Sergio Aguero will serve a three match ban for violent conduct. He will miss the Manchester derby.

Woeful defending.
Embarrassingly bad.
Lindgaard given the ball away 4 times in 15 minutes, can't carry people in big games.

Stating that Pep has ballsed up the goalkeeping situation isn't an outlandish claim but he is beyond criticism in your eyes.

Mourinho made a balls of his team selection.
United just didn't compete in the first half, still didn't play well in the second half but competed and could have scored.
Don't get the hype behind this city performance.

Bravo had a poor game...It happens...
Didn't matter...No point in having a bitter go at a manager who is 6-0..
