Re: Bordeaux Begles v Ulster Rugby
Given the brand of rugby Bordeaux like to play, their great home crowd, and Ulsters recent record on the road in France this could be one of the best games of the weekend.

Re: Bordeaux Begles v Ulster Rugby
It really could, Ulster have a lot of injuries in that back line though. One thing's for sure and that is that Ulster will have to front up at the breakdown much better than v Connacht
Re: Bordeaux Begles v Ulster Rugby
UBB also has a few injuries. Might start a lock in the back row this weekend. Other than that the way the team has been playing so far doesn't give much confindence. The work rate and commitment isn't really there and they have been a bit laidback but hope this first European game give them wings. Good news is that Madigan has fit quite well so far.

The same can be said of Ulsters last game.
Jackson will drive Madigan into the dirt again

Think that's the strongest side we can field. Happy with the bench. Fairly confident of a win.

I assume this is from mid olympique who just makes guesses for their Friday edition before the teams are out. even UBB team was not correct.
from planet rugby :
http://www.planetrugby.com/news/preview-bordeaux-ba%c2%a8gles-v-ulster/
UBB: 15 Jean-Marcellin Buttin, 14 Adam Ashley-Cooper, 13 Jean-Baptiste Dubié, 12 Romain Lonca, 11 Blair Connor, 10 Ian Madigan, 9 Yann Lesgourgues, 8 Loann Goujon, 7 Hugh Chalmers, 6 Luke Jones, 5 Cyril Cazeaux, 4 Jandré Marais (c), 3 Vadim Cobilas, 2 Clément Maynadier, 1 Jefferson Poirot
Replacements: 16 Ole Avei, 17 Sébastien Taofifenua, 18 Marc Clerc, 19 Tom Palmer, 20 Marco Tauleigne, 21 Baptiste Serin, 22 Lionel Beauxis, 23 Metuisela Talebula
Most players on the bench are actually stronger than the ones starting (front row, SH , FB) and as feared we are starting a lock (luke jones) as flanker. Our midfield (centres) seems UBB weakest point withy players that don't often play there and lack a bit lightweight imo (but if I remember correctly that was the partnership that eliminated Clermont last year).

If Ulster do not get a TBP win I will be extremely surprised. Think it is a very strong team and with Payne leading the line at 15 bringing Marshall and Olding into attacking lines.
Should be a high scoring and entertaining game to watch

Re: Bordeaux Begles v Ulster Rugby
The thing is billy, this back line is mouthwatering on paper but there has been so much rotation and so many injuries that we basically haven't seen the same back line twice in a game this season yet.
Even without Piutau that back line could be the best in Europe, but its going to take a while to click if we keep chopping and changing. I mean, its Trimbles first game of the season and the first time we've seen this back three together this season. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a bit of rustiness. I hope you're right though because there have been some real flashes of excellence from the backs so far. Sure even against Connacht we scored a fine try under the posts off a beautiful set move.

Re: Bordeaux Begles v Ulster Rugby
May not have played regularly together this season but this Ulster backline is not unfamiliar with each other. Possibly the best backline in the Pro-12 and maybe even Europe.
Paddy to teach Madigan a lesson again and prove why he should be the full time back up to Sexton ... actually, why Sexton should almost be considering a future as back up 10 to Paddy for Ireland.
Ulster by 15 in a high scoring match

Think you may be underestimating Bordeaux, not to mention the pitch isn't great in Bordeaux so Ulsters backline may fight the going tough
May also be why Bowe isn't in this weekend to protect him from injury

Aahh marty, positive thinking brother
Bordeaux are really not that good and their only chance in this match is to win the forwards battle. Their backline will be totally outclassed by Ulster's. Its why I suspect a high scoring and entertaining match with Ulster getting the TBP.

I am thinking positive but Bordeaux are 5th in the Top 14 and above Toulouse and Racing and usually pretty good at home, just think it'll be tougher than most seem to be thinking

Re: Bordeaux Begles v Ulster Rugby
Not saying it will be easy, no game against French teams are. I just do not think that Bordeaux are as good as their position in the Top-14. For me, Ulster are simply a better team and will be a case of who scores more, not who defends better which is why I feel Ulster will win with their dominant backline.

Yep, four wins in the CC and four wins in the other one. The Regions have won all their opening games, as have the Scots. It would be fantastic if ourselves and Munster keep the winning going. It's a challenge for both, but Munster face a really tough one.
Whatever happens, it's been a very good first weekend for the PRO12
