New Tackle Laws
First topic message reminder :
http://www.irishtimes.com/sport/rugby/new-laws-to-clamp-down-on-high-tackles-could-prove-revolutionary-in-rugby-1.2924256
A lot of people concerned about the new tackle laws. My biggest concern is that it gives referees too much power to decide on intent.
I fear that his will just be another excuse for Wayne Barnes to penalise Ireland unfairly and potentially issue us more yellow cards when we play Wales. I don't trust him to apply the rules consistently or fairly.

To be honest, there are plenty of egomaniacs from Ireland. You would think they were the 'chosen people' with exclusive access to 'the craic'.GunsGermsV2 wrote:Cyril wrote:Bono is a typical Irishman.

Russel went to Australia years ago, but he hasnt been able to get Australian citizenship, how bad is that?
Sadly Margot is an Aussie.
So we are left with Sam and at a stretch The Rock.

We don't have a problem. It's you Irish that are upset that Hansen basically told that lady with her insolent tones to get lost. He handled it well I thought. He owed her absolutely nothing given her approach and evident sour grapes.

Apparently that New Zealanders cant take criticism.
Yeah we agree so. Maybe its a cultural thing. In Ireland we are always cutting people down. You don't last long with a big head before one of your friends or colleagues brings you back to earth.
In Britain people love to talk themselves up and tell anyone who will listen how great they are. Tom Hiddlestone and his Golden Globe speech for example. If the Brits aren't telling the world how great they are then something is up. Thats why we sent Bob Geldof over there.
If a Kiwi like "Shag" comes over here with a big head then you better believe that he is fair game.

Sam Neill is one of ours I'm afraid, born in Belfast.
I've no idea what this is doing on a rugby thread, other than Ulster could use Sam at scrum half next season.

Interesting. It seems odd that people would consider English, Scottish, Welsh etc to be of a 'type', especially when we're talking of 10s of millions of people in very culturally diverse areas.GunsGermsV2 wrote:Cyril wrote:Are Irish really anti-British?Pete330v2 wrote:GunsGermsV2 wrote:Scottrf wrote:Stereotyped for being the exact opposite.

I have them come to my business all the time asking if I have anything they can take away, for nothing, as they are doing me a favour. That's what all Irish people must be like, even the British one's in the north.

Having said that, the Irish really couldn't have picked a more leprechaun-like fellow when they voted in their current president. I really hope he dresses up in costume when meeting foreign dignitaries. It would do a heck of a lot for tourism.

Nobody believes stereotypes really although it's hard to be swayed away from them on meeting certain types. I find it odd that you actually think that those on the mainland would see themselves as the opposite to the perceived stereotypes though. That seems a little arrogant which coincidentally is one part of the stereotype we're discussing

To be fair a lot of people would position themselves as anti-British, meaning mainly anti-English, Wales being England's largely irrelevant little brother and Scotland being an unwilling participant. Something along those lines.
