The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Cari wrote:Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Gibbo, I've been on Google today but I hadn't realised it was a playable guitar! That's pretty cool!

You never commented in the rugby pub though

That was in a way the point of my previous post. Comments get lost. I think it's because on here people can post/edit as frequently as they want they don't have the three minute rule. I don't think it's busier in terms of more members really, just more frequent postings.

Cant really tell Hobo. We are too busy posting to notice... It is growing by the day.
That's for sure. Do you have any daily stats?

there is a posting delay we can introduce but I think its a backwards step (and I know we would never really consider adding it)

Ooh thats not good for Tag. The most competitive people generally look the biggest muppet for a game like this Very often they are the ones who I have to tell the captain to sub him or I'll card him
Ha ha I could be picking up a few cards then!

I think I say both Tesco and Tesco's depends on what I'm saying. Definitely don't usually call it Tesco's though.

What I'll say Rodds is remember its not real rugby. DON'T give a handoff into some girl or shoulder a 50 year old man into the back. If you see a tiny space between 2 players don't drop the shoulder and try power through it.
Many injuries in Tag are the fault of the rugby players who want to show off or are over confident.

Careful Gibbo - you'll get in trouble from Stag - it's 'Tesco' not 'Tesco's' (I think he has shares or something)...
See its happening again. Everyone I know says it. Maybe I'm wrong maybe it is called Tescos. Or do the Tesco Family run it?
I think it must be 'Tescos'. Apparently, people from Scotland should really be called 'Scotch' too!
Err, no. 'Scotch' is a term sometimes used to refer to (the one and only) whisky - the people of Scotland or of Scottish descent would be termed 'Scots', whereas everything else pretty much would be described as 'Scottish' - pedant, er me? No ... I mean never ...

Shortly after I moved here, luckless, I went to the annual Parich Council meeting. The Clerk - native to these parts - kept talking about "this areal". I knew nothing at that point about the Bristolian "L" suffix. I was very confused

Thanks stag. Don't worry I am not over confident. Like I say I haven't laced boots since I was 23 or 24 so really just want to see if I've got enough gas to still play. It's a bit like a mid life crisis.
If I play I won't be trying to hand off any 50 year olds or small girls as that could prove embarrassing.... for me!

The term Scotch really grind's my gears too. Despite it being used in jest in this occasion, from time to time on the old 606 I have at times launched into rants at anyone who uses the Term.

I was in O’Neills pub in Dublin on Monday ordering a drink, and behind the bar was a poster for a whiskey festival, can’t remember what it was called exactly but for the sake of the story I’ll say it was “Dublin Whisky Fest 2011” – and I noticed the spelling was Scottish. I said it to the fella behind the bar but to be fair, I’m not sure Polish people really care that much about Irish-Scottish spirit rivalry.

How much is accommodation around Twickenham, Penfro? The pub meet in Cardiff was brilliant but I didn't have to factor in accommodation.

Good man As.
You have just managed to wipe out all the Celtic-love, built up between The Irish, Welsh and Scots/Picts over the years - in one fell swoop.
Love it man! Like yer style.
Have to say, The Swannys and I, really did enjoy invading your well-stocked whisky cupboard. There were some tasty "foreign" liquid-treasures in there all roysh.
I love it ALL. Even whisgi.

There is a hotel in Feltham that was £45 per night the last time I stayed there for the 7's two years ago. Twickenham is only 2 stops away. Rooms are of a reasonable standard.

Gibbo, that's what Easyhotels are like. I've stayed at the one in Earls Court and it's fine. You can pay extra for a room with a window if you're really posh!
