He has come out and said he'll definitely be there next season. I know word isn't usually enough but he has tried to kill speculation of him leaving.

Twitter talk (so take with a pinch of salt)
Everton have agreed £25m fee with Swansea for Sigurdsson. Very good piece of business if true
Man Utd have gone to bookies favourites to sign Barkley. Don't see any truth in this. Reckon this would be more to tempt people in to throwing money on bets

Imagine Sigurdsson is the replacement for Barkley lined up.
Problem is, not sure who will sign Barkley. Heard Man United and Tottenham interested but would Barkley improve either of those teams? I don't think so. He wouldn't get into either's first XIs and I'm not sure he's even a major improvement on their options off of the bench.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
I haven't seen enough of Barkley, when I've seen him he more often than not failed to live up to any sort of hype that first surrounded him (ah the curse of expecting too much from an English lad coming through his local teams ranks)
I can't take any reports linking us (united) to anyone at the minute because we'd be signing 2 new starting elevens this summer if the press were to be believed
Spurs is long standing interest, at the minute I don't think he's as good as Alli, Erikson or Son, but given Levy's propensity to pay as little as possible in terms as wages and Alli attracting interest from abroad, Barkley could indeed come in as his replacement
Would you have him at Liverpool Crimey? A few scousers I work with think he'd be a good fit regardless of his being a Toffee

Wouldn't get on the first team at Liverpool but considering how thin the squad is he would certainly be a good bench option. Would rather have Sigurdsson to be honest.

I'd be very disappointed with Utd if they went in for Barkley, has his moments but just hasn't developed particularly since he first burst onto the scene.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
I'd see how Barkley could fit into United's midfield three, him and Pogba both can play deeper but need some cover, which they'd get from each other and Herrera.
Also think Jose has the nous to drill discipline into his game, and he either needs discipline to play deeper or the free role in behind.
He's also English so helps European competition quotas.

He's still only 23 too - so I wouldn't term him as a finished product yet. He'd be good depth at least for utd and Liverpool

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
barkley would have to improve a lot to get a starting spot in our side. he is a player who can produce abit of magic every now and again and it is something we have struggled with, with all the home draws with teams that sit deep. but with his price tag and at best he would be switching with herrera (who currently is a much better midfielder). not sure its worth the risk

Depends if you play a central 2 or 3. Could work in 3.

weve played central 3 for most parts. but weve got mata or mik that can do the creative part better than barkley. mourinho has been going for the more negative herrera, felliani pogba central 3 though and shoving the former wider

As newspaper rumours fly about, we're worried Iheanacho is a bit young to lead our line. Interest in Andre Gray.
I like Gray as a player, not gonna blow the league apart, but fast and strong. Think he could really work for us

Victor Valdes has left Middlesbrough and Iker Casillas is leaving Porto and has said he wants to move to the Premier League.
Anybody think these will be picked up? How did Valdes do at Middlesbrough? Everton will surely be in the market for a keeper, although both of those are short-term options.

Lazy journalism I think.
All the noise from out of Liverpool and from the journalists with more knowledge is that Klopp is very happy with his goalkeeping choices. Mignolet has been massively improved this year since he was dropped and returned to the side and Karius was a real talent at Mainz and although he had a tough year, he's very much an able deputy and provides the competition that it seems Mignolet needs to perform and obviously wasn't getting from Brad Jones or Adam Bogdan.
Not sure Casillas really fits the vision, he'd be on huge wages considering the reason he is leaving Porto is because RM have been paying 2/3 of his wages since he joined and he's not taking a pay-cut to keep playing and it would mean trying to push out the considerably younger Mignolet or Karius to fit him in for the 1-2 years Casillas has left.

Casillas at City? Comfortable with his feet and the Spanish style that the national team and Barcelona had many similarities with.
I thought he'd lost it, but I haven't heard as many negatives about his time at Porto.
Funnily enough, both suit Pep: not sure how I started this without noticing the link from Valdes to Pep!
Everton and us would definitely take a sniff at Casillas.

Looks like Renato Sanches is leaving FC Bayern. A very underwhelming season for the highly rated Portuguese youngster. Only gained around 1000 minutes all season

I wonder in a few years if Bayern fans will look back upon this season with regret, yes they've won the league but that's generally a given. Ancelotti has very much gone back to the old guard as his preferred choice with the likes of Sanches, Kimmich and Coman becoming periphery players as the season progressed, to the point where Sanches and Kimmich are being strongly linked with moves away in dissatisfaction.

Can only imagine Old Trafford being his next destination, given the interest they previously showcased & his fellow countryman being at the helm.

Kimmich is the future of German football. We won't let him leave. Especially now that Philipp Lahm is retired. Kimmich can play in a variety of positions so much like David Alaba, he's a priceless price of the puzzle.Hero wrote:I wonder in a few years if Bayern fans will look back upon this season with regret, yes they've won the league but that's generally a given. Kingsley Coman was very inconsistent in his second season. Ancelotti od a more defensive style manager and Coman's work rate was often very poor. We've signed from Juve now, with Robben and Ribery nearing the curtain call, Coman will get more chances next season.
Renato Sanches was very disappointing. Looked totally out of his depth at FC Bayern. Never looked like the player that played in Portugal. It's difficult getting a CM role at FC Bayern with Vidal, Alonso(now retired) and the utility players capable of playing there.
It was the worst season but the CL was farcical. League titles we can win at will. Pressure on Ancelotti next year.

Griezmann is a #9 not a winger. Rashford off the left. Mkhitaryan from the right. Martial will be flogged. Very underwhelming season. Sanches won't be a starting XI player in the PL. still needs developmentJust John wrote:Can only imagine Old Trafford being his next destination, given the interest they previously showcased & his fellow countryman being at the helm.

Griezmann plays in a variety of positions along the front three. Don't actually see him as a no.9 in the PL. Martial flogged

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
Martial must be a contender to go. They'd get good money and he might be dissatisfied with his role.
Sanches needs a loan, surely? A bit of time in Italy or Spain would do him wonders technically, although English football does look suited to him.

Heard that the Toon are closing in on Tammy Abraham.
City release Sagna, Clichy, Navas, Cabellero. Depends on wages, but there's some decent enough pick ups there.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
Well apparently Zabaleta is definitely going to West Ham. His legs seem to have gone recently though so not sure on the quality of that signing. Same with Sagna and Clichy whose quality has totally dropped off in the last year. Navas wouldn't be a bad shout for one of the smaller sides and Cabellero isn't a bad number two.
Supposedly Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has asked to leave Dortmund so you imagine a load of clubs will be in for him. Wonder if that's the prompt for Real Madrid to move on from Benzema.

Bob hope & no hope. He's pretty much Madrid bound, if he goes. AC Milan signing Morata & PSG have Cavani, who had a exceptional season, once Zlatan left.

Could be wrong(most on here think I'm 100% wrong all the time anyway ) but MUFC not closing a move on Bernardo Silva would mean Mourinho favours Renato Sanches. And the Portuguese youngster will leave for £35m compared to the £60-70m branded around for Silva
