Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
The rage from La Liga is exciting.
That money argument does show you why there's no need to worry about Bale not having suitors. If Everton can throw £48m at Siggy, Liverpool can offer upwards of £70m for Nany Keita then I can't see Man United being scared of throwing £90m at Bale.

A fully fit Bale would be worth £90 million and then some in the current market, but you simply can't rely on him being fit.

Proper champions league teams with bags of money can cover it and have the squad depth. Makes so much sense for man united as a commercial deal, and if they get 70% of games they get arguably the 4th most talented footballer in the world for 70% of their games

We've signed Davy Propper from PSV.
Our record of signing Dutch players is a bit of a disaster, however this lad has been a regular for PSV and has some caps for Holland under his belt.
Think we just need a striker and a RB and then that's us completed.

We've signed a young Montenegro international who represented Sweden at youth stages and they were annoyed he chose to represent Montenegro. Reports make him sound good but probably periphery for at least a season

If you mean Kayal, he is more likely to be dropped. Stephens is our best

At the start of the window I was so optimistic in relation to what LFC were going to do. Now I am genuinely worried that Coutinho will make a whirlwind transfer to Barca, Hendo will have a niggling injury and we will start our first game with Can - Grujic - Woodburn in midfield.... What a difference a month can make.

It has been really frustrating. Delighted that we secured Salah, Robertson is a decent cheap signing and I think Solanke is a really good young signing but having missed out on Keita and Van Dijk, in two positions we could really have done with the reinforcement, it's disappointing to see that the club seemingly has had no alternative players in mind. For centre mid, we don't need a world beater, simply a decent to good player capable of bringing depth to that part of the squad will be sufficient. It's frustrating as the club has shown a willingness to splash the cash, unfortunately the targets we have looked at have been pretty much impossible to sign. I only hope we learn from this and make sure we don't let Coutinho go. The money is worthless when we can't spend it on the players we want.
It's just worrying when Klopp starts saying things like Moreno is 100% back and Milner is like a new midfield signing. It's embarrassing and will leave us seriously short this season when we have more games (so long as we beat Hoffenheim.) I'm hoping we get something done quickly before the end of the window, it wouldn't be the first time. There's still hope that we can secure Van Dijk and hopefully we might be able to bring in some kind of depth for midfield.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
VVD would be ideal but there are a host of other CBs who would improve our starting 11, so cannot understand the logic of "it's our top target or no-one" approach.
Could understand the LB situation if Robertson was ready made to go into the starting 11. This would mean Milner could technically be considered additional depth at LB and in midfield. Not sure this is the case with Robertson (Hopefully proves me wrong).
Overall, if we end this window as the squad is now we will be in a precarious position, where 1 or 2 injuries could derail our season (Hendo, Coutinho, Mane last year). If we end it as is minus coutinho, well can't even really put that into words.

Think Klopp said you couldn't name 5 centre backs better than what they have. So, I'd guess VVD is one of the four possible

Klopp also said he is happy with our options at CB - A good but injury prne Matip, A bordering on decent mistake prone Lovren, an average at best Klavan and a coming back from injury and inexperienced Gomez. I'm hoping he is just keeping his cards close to his chest and doesn't actually believe that, otherwise we are in serious trouble.

I'll allow it cos it's awful.
Rose being interesting in interview, can't see that being fun at Spurs.
Reports in France that Man United have agreed a deal for Aurier, but all seems a bit premature with his legal issues

Not too sure what to think about this. Doesn't really make sense that Jose wants one more signing and a position we don't really need would be it
His legal issues aside, Valencia is right back for us and Aurier would only serve as cover, and potentially long term replacement (so you could sign him at a later date). Much more pressing for United is the left side. Jose has been more than critical of Shaw, Blind is terrible at LB and Darmian, whilst competent in defence, is allergic of the opposition half.

Well Neymar wouldn't count towards their FFP due to way they worked around it him paying his own release clause as an ambassador. So PSG free to spend still.

I always get in two minds when it comes to breaking News on Sky Sports
I wouldn't put it past them to announce breaking news according to their sources just to increase the incoming traffic on Sky Bet accounts
Believe the club have already rubbished the story

Martins Indi joins Stoke permanently. Could pave the way for apparent Burnley interest in Shawcross, though seeing Stoke's squad I'd suggest Hughes use 3 centre backs and make it hard.

Re: Summer Transfer Window 2017 Thread
Fourth player is likely Perisic or another winger. Or possibly Aurier.
Disappointed that Coutinho has decided to hand in a transfer request the day before the season starts. Don't think we should sell, we can't do anything with the money when our top targets aren't for sale and we couldn't replace Coutinho right now anyway. He's just signed a new long-term contract and it won't expire until he's 30 years old.
