Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
First topic message reminder :
He came across very poor as did fellow lib Clegg with his constant sniping at the Brexit issue.
Good riddance to both.Libs may well be a non entity now.
Tories have to proceed with caution now and build up some confidence again.
Our fire guy at work is telling us today that they really should have gone for a full evacuation at an early stage but that runs right against all previous policy putting residents and fire staff in potentially greater danger. In Blackadder terms it would have been going 'over the top'

It's a lost cause Kwini, the SPL isn't ranked 23rd in Europe for no reason, even below the league of Israel by UEFA, a country not even IN Europe.
They're a bit like the R&A Kwini, just a bunch of people who think everything is fine and they'll change nothing.

Scary moment yesterday, bent down just after getting up and felt my lower back go, hobbled around for a bit, tried to sit and it really went. Crawled into bed in agony, could barely move at all.
Woke up the same today but ice packs really helped and just managed to walk downstairs as can straighten up now.
Quite scary for a while, no way I could have got a doctor. I've had lower back pain before but this is a whole new level. Anyone on here tried pilates or yoga, I've been told it's the way to go.
Being middle aged sucks in many ways!

They have just started to add some of the turbines and suddenly, even though they are a distance out, they do seem pretty big.
My problem is that I'm all for these kind of energy methods...but we have a sea view and I prefer the view without the turbines. It's not that I find them ugly, it's just that I like that infinity feeling you get looking at the sea (even though it's only the Channel).
Anyway, my conclusion is that I'm clearly a NIMBY, had suspected as much for a while but I now have to accept the reality!
Pretty jealous of you and your sea view, I have to admit!
Yes, I agree they are elegant, just need shoving up the coast a few miles Navy! We are about a mile back from the sea but uphill, so it's not a huge sweeping expanse but I still do love being able to see it. Makes me feel calm, which is often needed after a day teaching 10 year olds.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
My sympathies. Had a dodgy back from a gardening injury for ~20 years and when it 'goes' (as it does periodically now), it really is no joke. Does it hurt significantly if you sneeze/laugh? If yes, been told by a medical colleague that that's often a sign of a disc injury. Any tingling/numbness in arse or legs/toes? If so, get to a GP. Speak to a good physio - the one I saw originally gave me some decent exercises for the acute period like you have now, but hard to describe on a golf forum!Diggers wrote:Scary moment yesterday, bent down just after getting up and felt my lower back go, hobbled around for a bit, tried to sit and it really went. Recommend ice or frozen peas regularly now - wrap in a tea towel and lie on them for ~20 mins at a time. Try to keep mobile and move around.
Sadly, I haven't found any painkillers that really work, even the prescription codeine.
Don't try any pilates/yoga until it's healed. Chiropractors can be good - bit scary though.

Cheers Navy, no sneezing or laughing really so hard to tell, but no tingling or numbness. Has really eased up in past 2 hours or so, ice has definitely helped a lot.

Yep. Being an idiot laying heavy flagstones for a patio. Picture the scene - ~30Kg flagstone, balanced on edge, at arms length and me trying to lay it flat by lowering it from that standing position. Ouch. Had 4 (5?) days flat out on lounge floor not being able to move - only good thing was the codeine the Doc prescribed, which didn't make it hurt any less, has the nice(?) side effect of making one somewhat constipated!Diggers wrote:Cheers Navy, no sneezing or laughing really so hard to tell, but no tingling or numbness. Trouble with backs is we forget they're really there, if you know what I mean. Hurt it though, and every single movement becomes a challenge!

Ouch, not good. Actually start of my issues was carrying a paving stone for a patio. Just a small tweak a few years ago, but it's always the same spot now.

Diggers -tough one but a good physio and £40 should do the trick. My lady is a magician .
Most injuries of that sort can be sorted in one session plus they should give you some exercises to use if it happens again,Simple stuff like leaning against a window cill and pushing the lower back in,hanging from the door frame, and doing a press up but leave tummy on the floor.
A rolled up towel tucked under lower back in bed always helped me .Try to keep mobile

I'm not sure I'll join anywhere Mac, I'm even closer to St.Andrews than currently, however I do like Mortonhall and maybe next year I'll join there for the early nights, but I don't think they have a practice ground which is what I'm looking for for summer evenings.

Mortonhall is a more expensive but slightly worse version of braid hills. Get yourself the Edinburgh leisure membership instead.

I've played both Mac, I prefer Mortonhall as the greens are far better.
There are some great holes on Braid Hills though Mac, I'll concede that, but a lot of poor ones too and it's very much in municipal condition when I have played it.
What do you think of the others i.e. Duddingston, Murrayfield, Prestonfield, etc?

Well, he did and didn't Muller play well? Great to see some old fashioned serve/volley, even if that wasn't his primary game yesterday. Only saw the last set, but the standard throughout that was pretty impressive from both.super_realist wrote:Hope that OCD rat is going to get beaten by Muller today. I don't like his ridiculous face wiping ticks, I don't like his timewasting and gamesmanship, I don't like how he over-celebrates a point, but most of all I dislike his trophy biting.
To give him credit, he's quite sporting in defeat.

I don't see him as dull really, he's got a dull tone and a dull accent but he's far wittier, more dry and articulate than any British footballer who ever gets interviewed. Compare him to Gerrard or Rooney and he's like David Niven.

This is true.
He got hammered for his "anyone but England" comment when he was just breaking into the big time, and he learned from it pretty quickly that the public can have a sense of humour failure at any moment so decided the dull route after that.

Lewis Hamilton what a bell end. Turns out super was right after all. How can he skip the London event this evening when it's his home crowd and every other driver is attending? Raising a big middle finger to his (former?) fans, sponsors and colleagues. His team must be going nuts.

Mine's a wear and tear issue rather than any specific injury but I've had pain on and off since January. Never gave my back any thought until then ! I ended up with a chiropractor and finally it's on the mend. He took x-rays first visit, showed me the problem, and after 3 sessions I had significant improvement. Don't know if they're different in the uk but they're not as scary here as they used to be. They adjust using a small hand-held device - I find the whole procedure pretty relaxing. I now have a bunch of strengthening exercises to do and I'm down to one visit a week -- I have muscles that are complaining (muscles I didn't know I had) but I started chipping and putting again this week. I'm very hopeful that with my new improved back I'll eventually be hitting the ball further than ever !

Great business for Spurs though. Kieran Trippier has looked pretty good the few times I saw him on the box. £50m in the bank and not a lot weaker, if at all. Bargain.super_realist wrote:You know there is too much money in the Premier League when Kyle Walker is being bought for £50m.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
Just back from a couple of hours at the course where we have the Trilby tour today.Really enjoyable and our lot do know how to organise an event. One of the guys had a hole in one at the second(normally our 11th)which is quite remarkable when you consider its on the card at 380 yards. It is a dog leg left probably 60 degree turn but a lot of heavy trees to consider of the tee. Some of the pros used to try it in Opens but that was years ago before the trees matured.
Playing off 3/4 best scores in were 37/38 and the leaderboard shows scores at 9,12,15 18 holes so it brings a bit of atmosphere.
