NFL.com fantasy football
First topic message reminder :
I've just got an email from NFL.com saying that you can now sign up for the 2011 season. Having never played before I'm not sure I'm the person to set the league up but I'll certainly join if someone else does.
On a slightly related note, has anyone seen 'The League', the comedy show from the producers of Curb Your Enthusiasm?

Forward
I have another team in an NFL managed league and I had last 1st round, first 2nd round etc picks, terrible position to be drafting from, this is where your rankings are crucial or you end up missing all the top picks and find yourself with a bunch of 4th round calibre players.
Not all bad, from 13 you should be able to get Cassel

Last season I drated 12th in a league and Tom Brady was still available so it may not be as bad as you think.
I have the 1st pick in the East, there's a first time for everything

Re: NFL.com fantasy football
Depends on your strategy I think. some prefer to get a power RB in early (which is why Foster, CJ, AP all predicted to go first 5) while otehrs prefer to get their gun slinging QB in early.
Brady on 2009 numbers wouldn't have been top 20, obviously last year he was sensational and will probably go top 10 this time.
In my otehr teams draft the #1 pick chose Pittsburgh Defence !

As the number 1 pick in the West I will not be doing this...
As a side reference is it possible to trade out of the number one pick and back to about pick number 5 :p
Whilst its great to go number one, I hate having to wait so long before it snakes back round to you! Players just fall off the board.

At the moment both leagues are full as the drafts are in just over a week, although the West is two teams bigger than the East.
Pr4wn is in charge, so you'll have to see what he says, but we would also need a second new team as you can only add in pairs

Therer are now two 12-team leagues for 606v2 users.
The are the 606v2 East and 606v2 West leagues. The password for both leagues is 606v2.
606v2E.league.fantasy.nfl.com
606v2W.league.fantasy.nfl.com
The West league is the original league so still has a few teams in it. I also have to be in both leagues in order to administrate them.
The drafts for both leagues will take place on Sunday September 4th @ 6pm GMT.
Please only register for one league as I'd like to fit everybody in.
to join go via http://fantasy.nfl.com/registration/privateleaguejoin when logged into your account.
League ID should be 384548
Password was listed above as 606v2
Here is my post that got Grizz into the East

Re: NFL.com fantasy football
Basically you need to create a team of players to play against one of the other teams in the league each week. Every player in the NFL is available but each can only go to one team hence the need to have a draft. So for example if Adrian Peterson is selected by the team with the number one pick in the fantasy draft that team will be the only one to feature Adrian Peterson. During the draft you will need to select 1QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1TE, 1WR/RB, 1DEF, and 1K. You will also need to select a bench of 6 players which can be used to cover injuries, take advantage of match-ups/mediocre opposition etc. You can cut players and make trades throughout the season but the draft will provide you with the bulk of your team. The way the scoring is worked out is described under the League Settings tab once you've joined and it's worth having a good read of this as it will influence who you draft and when. You get points for catches, rushing yards, field goals etc. Once the regular season has begun you will face one team each week in your fantasy league and you will receive points for how your chosen players perform in that weeks games, the team that gets the most gets a win and the team that gets the least gets a loss. The best performing teams then qualify for the playoffs which take place in the last few weeks of the regular season.
Hopefully that made some sense, I'm sure someone will be able to answer any questions you have if you post them up. The most important things are to come up with a good team name, understand the scoring system prior to the draft, log-in to take part in the draft otherwise NFL.com will give you a terrible team and practice your trash talk.

Re: NFL.com fantasy football
TM - go to the fantasy site and it lists the likely top 50/100/200etc (you choose the filter), you get the option to delete any player (who you don't want to pick) and increase/decrease anyone's ranking.
If you're not there and you've left for example Peyton Manning at #10 or whatever he is, there's every chance the system will auto draft him for you because he's the highest ranked player in your rankings.
Keep an eye on injuries next week as well.

Is the above official NFL rankings they are tabbed on the left top 200 then into position, You will need to go into the league to set your own preference, if left on auto, it will select you the best player available when your turn based on rank positions
