NFL.com fantasy football
First topic message reminder :
I've just got an email from NFL.com saying that you can now sign up for the 2011 season. Having never played before I'm not sure I'm the person to set the league up but I'll certainly join if someone else does.
On a slightly related note, has anyone seen 'The League', the comedy show from the producers of Curb Your Enthusiasm?

Let me see if I can drum up sufficient interest from Mods and Admins to start another league.

Wow. Just done my first mock draft, surprisingly scary but fun!!
One (further) query though - What are the BN slots in your roster for. I assume some type of sub player. Do you bring these in when your players are on a bye week?

Yeah exactly that pretty much. Depends on matchups too. You might want to bench one of your better WR if they are playing the Jets and select another crappier WR if they are playing the Texans. Just gives you options really.

Another question: Should we have a couple of Injury Reserve spots or is it fine as it is?

Nope. If one of your players goes on IR, you gotta cut him and get someone off waivers.

No bother! Was not expecting anyone to start up a new league or anything like that. Just incase anyone had a league they needed filled up.

The only other way is for however many teams are left over to join the same NFL.COM managed league
That way at least there would be a few 606 teams in the same league

Re: NFL.com fantasy football
How's it going lads? Sorry haven't been on the board much since I signed up a couple of weeks - have no internet at home just now and struggle to get on at work. Switching broadband providers at home and don't currently have access to the internet since my broadband was knocking out my phone line!! New provider isn't going to be up and running until 6th September so looking very likely I'm going to miss the fantasy draft which I'm gutted about as that's always good fun. Trying to sort out my rankings when I can at work so hopefully might end up getting some of the guys of I want!
Oh, and I changed my team name - "Rex drops back INTERCEPTED" was a bit of a mouthful sp have changed it to something a bit catchier but which still pays homage to the most apathetic QB competition ever!! Does anyone apart from Redskins fans care who wins it???

Has anybody been watching NFL Fantasy Live?? Not sure how some of them can get paid for some of the nonsense they talk. I took a look at one of Michael Fabiano's fantasy teams and it was not very impressive at all.

Does any fan really care about anything other than their teams roster/depth chart/prospects at this stage?
Besides, I wouldn't say the Skins situation is apathetic. We have two average QB's rising to the challenge to lead the team come day 1. At least we have a competition. Put yourselves in the shoes of fans from Phoenix, for example, knowing all their hopes rest on the success or failure of Kolb. Our offense doesn't need a Brady or Manning to manage it (though that would be nice). Personally I'm backing Beck to be giving the starting role and probably lead us to something like an 8-8 season. From a pure FFL point of view I wouldn't risk a pick on either of them, but they may enable some others on the offense to shine, such as Hightower.

Probably not but I was kinda just being about self-deprecating about my Skins with the comment. As for the apathy, I was thinking more about the media slant on it - most media outlets are pretty mocking of the Skins' QB contest which is understandable given that it's between two guys that no-one beyond the Shanahans rate. It is kinda funny in a way. I'm not too fussed to be honest who gets it. We know what Rex can do - he can look great one minute and awful the next. Who knows about Beck? Don't think it's fair to judge him on what happened in Miami - maybe he'll be a star in the right system?? Or maybe he will turn out to be the QB we saw in Miami. Or maybe he'll be somewhere in between - i.e. Jason Campbell! Regardless, if the O-Line is good enough to allow us to run the ball well this year then neither QB will find himself having to do an awful lot beyond managing the game. If Shanahan can run the ball the first then he will, that's for sure.
By the way, loving the "Pheonix" reference!! That was a blast from the past!! I think we should call more teams by the name they used be known as - the Titans would be Houston, the Ravens would be Cleveland and we could return both the Rams and the Raiders to LA! Chaos would reign!

I take it that the draft is still on for 6pm this coming Sunday.
Is it obvious how to select the right draft board? I assume that you just access it from your team page.

Just log into your team and it should all be automatic!
I'll get a chat box going on the homepage too, so both leagues can chat to each other.

No idea how your going to cope with double drafting Pr4wn... at least you can set your boards up for one league and import it into the other!
I figure I won't be able to cope with the prospect of drafting, projecting my next pick options and chatting on both the NFL chatbox and the 606v2 chatbox all at once...

That's not the problem really it's that we don't pick again until pick 41/42 when quality players begining to get scarce
Need to be on the ball in the middle rounds

Re: NFL.com fantasy football
Yeah I pick at #1 which is great, but have to wait until 24 I get my second pick... that pretty much rules out getting two "stud" players!
I think the long waits are pretty bad, but double picks means you at least don't have to make a choice when your stuck between two players!

Re: NFL.com fantasy football
You got lucky Leeds, I was pick 9 which is a horror spot as every elite player will be gone by then, I'd rather had gone 14 and 15 than 9 and 21.
No shocks whatsover in our draft, Steven Jackson didn't shift until about 30th pick but other than that everything went to form.
Niners - your RB set look OK but I think your receivers are weak, and they all come from run first offences.
But you'll never get 15 guns....
