I was even further than that, at a game reserve near Phalaborwa. No flooding to worry about this time of year, snakes and scorpions were more of a concern, probably a bit like being on Oz but less dangerous.

I don't know Biltong outside of the rugby boards though I imagine he'd be a good laugh to catch up with.

Morning all. First night of my play this evening. I think we may be f*cked.

Rehearsals not gone well? Or just first night nerves?

One late drop-out. C*nt. Luckily a relatively minor role.
We've got fantastic lead actress, but the lead actor is struggling. Trying really hard, great bloke, but struggling.
My set looks great though!

Sounds like my school report card, apart from the great bloke thing.

Can she carry him?

Hard to say. If he can nail his monologues, then maybe she can carry him in the other bits.

Well I hope he steps up to the plate for you mate.

I shall await the verdict on the morrow. Or catch it in the national press, depends if I read the news or the MSMTS first, I guess.

Maybe you should fill in if possible... add a bit of a Groucho to the act. You'd be good. Are there many lines to learn?

A decent actor knowing half the lines would still be better than me knowing all of them.

FB can be useful. Just today, in fact, the Great British Amateur Theatre Hub group informed me that the Dewsbury Theatre Group are putting on the timeless Rodgers and Hart classic 'Pal Joey'.

Dewsbury is just down the road from me, I was there only last week, though in a pool match, nothing as cultured as "Pal Joey"

I'm impressed with that Jules. So proud of starting the worldwide Pal Joey revival.

Went a lot better than we expected. Not perfect but we were really buzzing afterwards. The author had flown from Seattle to see it and she seemed really happy.

I am not sure you need any more validation than the author and all of you, being happy, that has pretty much nailed it! Well done, mate.

Now is the fist of our discontent.

Sicond night was an improvement on the fist and the tird night, they really nailed it. We were all really happy with how it went overall.
Small audiences (less than 60 total over the 3 nights) but that's normal for provincial theatre featuring new drama. People are more interested in musicals, either revivals or new ones based on 1980s films - all very derivative.

Now less than 2 weeks til the Great Birmingham 10K run - all for charidee. Did 8 miles yesterday, so 10K (6 miles) should be relatively comfortable.

Tird, not much to report theatrically or athletically. Nothing, in fact.

Footgolf was as athletic as I got, and not once did I tread the boards behind the tabs.
