Morning Rick the slick, Jinxed myself. Every time I turned away England lost a wicket. So the pleasure of the victory was diminished by not being able to watch it live

How is life my boy? The career ladder extending far and high?

It's been cut off. Got my consultation today actually, going to try and force a voluntary redundancy so I can get 10 or 15 grand and then take a little while off to retrain for something else. Otherwise good, what about yourself? Getting restless or is it still going well?

That could work nicely for you then, mate. Any preference as to what you fancy doing?

All well here so far, I reckon I have got till the end of the year until the wanderlust kicks in. But there is talk of a merger which could pique the old interest again, we shall see.

Thetes alot of stuff I fancy doing but have to go for practical. Will probably do some sort of security systems installation job. They pay well and if we install them badly enough we have repeat customers for years. If the payout is large enough I might take a trainee cabinet maker course and do part time work as well to stretch the finances until I'm qualified.

Redundancy pay isn't taxed unless it's over £30,000, which is probably why rick is bitter.

Every day is a school day, Jules, a colleague just took redundancy after about 30 years and got taxed through the arris, hence my warning, but I did not know that.

I never stay in one place long enough for it to concern me.

You get taxed on any payment in lieu of notice, as per your salary, but not on the redundancy money.

I hope PJ isn't snowed in with just a couple of female Airbnb guests for warmth.

Probably, high-rises springing up all over the place. Had one pop up outside our own a while back, ruined our view of the Blackwell Tunnel approach.

I would imagine Peej is hiding behind the couch whilst the cricket goes on.

Sounds very pleasant. No ale but I was allowed three bottles of Grolsch as Galtova needed the clio-top bottles to brew her spells and potions.

For some reason the mention of Grolsch reminded by of drinking Sol from the bottle with a slice of lime in the neck (of the bottle, not of the person drinking). I'm assuming that died out sometime in the early 1990s.

Sol and Desperado still do this, and it is very much still a thing.

I was always told that Mexicans used to do this to keep flies out of the beer.

Indeed, normally I would be getting ready to go to the Download Festival at this time of year. Although a part of me wants the weather to be nice, as friends of mine are going.

A much bigger, more selfish, dickish part of me is glad the weather is going to be 5h1t as I am not going.
