Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
Just heard someone describe talks around Newcastle's takeover as a “mimefield”, which I enjoyed immensely.
Did a proxy vote for the EU elections. Wild.

G'day ricko... how's it going?
'Summer' ended here only last week... it lingered on for a while. Gale force blasts of freezing polar air now.

Not very glorious here either. Went to the sevens on Sunday and took sunscreen and a hat instead of Goretex or Jack Wolfskin. Looked a bit foolish.

Whereas if you'd worn Goretex or Jack Wolfskin you'd have looked a bit foolish.

With the shorts and sandals I was wearing, possibly. But with jeans and Rockports I would've stolen the limelight.

Went to the 7s here in February... so hot. I had to come home early to avoid sunstroke. I would have looked silly in Goretex or Jack Wolfskin.
They had these water mist sprays placed around the concourse... everyone was casually walking through it. I wouldn't have survived otherwise.

No rain here. It's ridiculous. It was 28 the other day.
Supposed to be winter from Saturday... although there has been record early snowfall in the last 24 hours... down souff. Hence the chill factor.

Clear sky sunset here. Very still out there.
There's a CWC tipping comp if anyone's interested.

All good here, went to see Godzilla last night, which was excellent, nice chilled weekend ahead with any luck, and the slight possibility that my Football club will lose its odious owner.
All I need now is the weather to buck up and we are all gravy.
What's going down in your world? Any Air B'n'B stories?

Cricket's going to be frustrating, was going to buy a Sky sports pass but if there are two things Galtova hates they are cricket and me enjoying anything on TV. Cricinfo it will be.

I was about to say... well done Jules. A big achievement.
I have a friend who is obsessed with running. He did Chicago and Buffalo/Niagara marathons in the space of a week or 2... came home... then back to NY 2 weeks later to run that. He runs around 3hrs 20 minutes for each marathon. Not bad. Another guy took over 6 hours with absolutely no training whatsoever. He just did a quick stretch in the hotel room on the morning of the run.
I bought a really nice bike for myself - starting to clock up some miles these last few weeks. Such a great feeling on these flat roads... some gentle hills.

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
I've thought about cycling as it's easier on the joints, but more risky because of the traffic.
I'm doing my first half marathon in October - that's probably my limit. Aiming for around the 2 hour mark.

Well done Jules - good effort.
Mrs Superfly has caught the running bug and has started doing marathons (did Berlin last year, Edinburgh last week and is signed up to do Frankfurt later this year). She managed 3hrs 51 at Edinburgh and is looking to gradually bring that down to 3hrs 30.
I couldn't do those times on a bike.

I might go check on the tipping comp. All the points scoring is sorted out now. Very simple and effective. So easy to sign up...

I expect to see Supes give Duty a damn good hiding, tanning and stringing up to dry in the sun... as usual.
Jules, did you say you were going to watch some cricket match or something?
C'mon Ricko. This ain't no office pool sweep stakes... this is the real golden opportunity!

I did enjoy Duty placing well down the field in the last Ashes tipping competition. It ran contrary to his numerous posts where he's claimed to have won big off the bookies.

You're most welcome to rag-doll him until the frays turn to deep gashes and eventually... loss of limb.
Otherwise it's just Jules and myself who will have to show him his place.

Don't know what he went for in the tipping competition but his predictions of a Pakistan win on the World Cup thread have not aged at all well.

Feel sorry for SA. They've just lost their mojo. Quite sad to see. Like Australia in rugby.
It was quite funny to see them wear the Aussie yellow. There's only one banana republic and that's us! We own da yellow!

I think SA concentrate so much on mental preparation they haven't bothered practising any actual cricket.

It seems like they are at the start of the re-build phase, where all their old players are on the way out, and the new ones are not bedded in. Same with Sri Lanka.

There is that. Usually by the skin of their teeth and barely being worthy of getting to the final

With the obvious exceptions of the Aussies and India, the other countries would be fairly happy with that.

Me too but as much as i love inzamam it's a miracle he hasn't been run over by a parked bus. He's the chief selector and each decision is usually dumber than the last unless forced into it..like bringing Amir back.

his finest moment. That's why Ijaz Ahmed is the greatest legend of all time, you see him running towards inzamam thinking the big man is going to stop the other big man and instead he hands him his bat.Galted wrote:He's immune from criticism after calling for a bat from the dressing room to clump an Indian supporter who was giving him gyp.
