Haha, been too busy following the furious spats on the rugby boards to brush up on politics but I think I'll have to visit the off-topic if that's imminent.

Good timing... think I've got a palindrome approaching too, Superfly.
Those rugby boards, Galts. It's like War and Peace and Anna Karenina put together. Heavy reading indeed.

I particularly enjoy the sniping between miaow and taylorman. It's like going to a dinner party with your girlfriend and your ex is there and they spend the entire evening making catty comments at each other despite all attempts to change the conversation.
A pity gwlad is no longer with us as the bitchiness between him and ebop was gloriously cringeworthy.

Yeah, that's one of my favourites too. Miaow has probably written over 20,000 words since 20 September. I've never read words from someone so full of himself. It must be some sort of inferiority complex illness. His ego, id and super-ego taking centre stage... every day..

The oversensitivity of a few of the welsh posters is also a good laugh. I'm tempted to join in but it's a bit like joining the rest of the class in bullying the kid who's not allowed to play sport.

Yes, or the Welsh lad who is so sad and depressing... you just keep walking by rather than offer moral support. It's just not worth it. Waste of time.
A morbid palindrome on the limerick thread... stretching the meaning of a word.
God, Corbyn's got bad dandruff... at least 12 flakes. Looks like he slept in his suit.
Boris has less dandruff... but more (of his own) jism on his right shoulder. Or is that a snail trail?

Super Realist on the Golf boards is a very strange human being.
Strange to the point that I tihnk he might actually be a Vulcan. Almost completely devoid of empathy.

Super Realist is up there with the worst people on this forum.
Just done a lengthy post in Books. Culture is what I am, gentlemen, and it’s what I always will be. Although it seemed less the case at a sushi restaurant last night where I refused to eat because “the food isn’t cooked” so just drank beer (few Asahis and a VB for dessert).
Still, I was with a table full of evangelical Christians, so who’s really the least open to change?

The two lads who were nicest when I joined a football team over here are also, weirdly, evangelical Christians. It's seemingly far more common in the youth here to be religious, and they all seem slightly more casual about it. But, at his birthday meal, I didn't quite realise I was his only mate who he didn't invite through church.

He's not overly concerned about the rugby, or claims not to be, far prefers cricket. His natural/unnatural hatred of all British sport should suffice though.
Mentioning 'rugger' as opposed to 'rugby' might get the veins on his head throbbing though.

They sound like decent people and pretty chilled out too.
Much better than a wild cohort of crack-smoking hoons. There's plenty of them about. So you've done well mate.
I've had some religious zealots stay here a couple of times. Really easy to get on with. Especially if it's only for 3-4 days.
They never forced anything religious or even tried to. Although one group did leave the odd brochure lying about... they were quite discrete about it.
Same with the Tony Robbins starry-eyed folk. They're all so glowing with self-confidence. It's so easy to pump up their egos and talk the truth.

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
My half-veiled reference to St Michael's Mount... reduced to a rock. I think there is one in Cornwall or Devon too?
I went to the one in Normandy. The tide was out; parked the Europcar and started to make my way along the long causeway. Some unfriendly Germans or Dutch were ahead of me. There was a fat one in cream trousers with an expensive looking camera around his neck. His inquisitiveness got the better of him and he took a few steps towards the silty sandy bit. (I thought... gosh that looks slippery!)
On about his 2nd footstep his legs went skywards. Landed right on his arse. Camera swung around and ended up lens down. I couldn't help laugh out really loud. He looked at me; half pissed off but also conceded it must have looked hilarious from my safe vantage point... so he gave me a half-smile. Sirry irriot!

The UK one is within walking distance of Penzance, was there with Galtova a few years back. I find the French version more impressive, may have been the approach though and how it looms in the distance.

Yeah, it looks so eerie. Would have been difficult to launch a full frontal assault on it I'd imagine.
Maybe pour oil in the sea around it and then set it alight... standing well back?

What about an opening line and closing line questions for literature?
Opening line - It was the best of times, it was the worst of times (A Tale of Two Cities).
Closing line - So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past (The Great Gatsby).
