Just checking in as I'm flying out to Hamburg for a weekend with some friends tomorrow. I'll give you all three rings to let you know I got there safely.

I'm hoping it has some rugby and the start of Red Dead Redemption II in store but I have a feeling the missus/offspring/cat will have other ideas.
You up to anything?

I live in a Valley here, and the river bursts it's banks when storms hit. Quite a few riverside houses and businesses have been hit unfortunately.

Went past some badly flooded areas this morning. Lots of shredded branches and leaves on the road in certain parts. Parks and golf courses in valley areas were like lakes. It was basically like a hurricane here yesterday - in a Biblical not Dylanesque sense.

Yeah you seem to be getting hammered at the moment.
I guess the wet weather will bring a lot of flying parasites out when it backs down a bit, so you might not be too far from the truth.
Apparently snow next here, I was doubtful of this, but we have had hail this morning, so maybe. Though nothing like the stuff you crazy cats have been getting.

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
It's all pretty extreme here and where you are.
On our weather maps we had the black zone for temperatures above 45 degrees C and now less than two weeks later we also had the black zone for 300mm+ rain. It says 445mm (17.5 inches) so far this month (so from 7th-10th February really) on my weather channel which is about 36% of our yearly rainfall in 72 hours. The Blue Mountains (Katoomba) got 757mm (just under 30 inches) for the same period.
Great for the dams - from 43% to just over 70% now in the space of 3 days.

Apart from the weather, have you had any cool folk or weird folk rock up at your gaff recently? Or has the apocalypse killed off the Air B&B business?

Had a few in January but tapering off for a while now. Sure had a fair share of weirdos stay here. So decent quiet types too.
You're right about the apocalypse though... it's a good excuse to politely turn enquiries away.
Just been reading the "anything goes" thread in the golf section. It's a little like a cross between the Off Topic politics threads and a poor man's version of the MSMTS, wouldn't you say?

All safe and sound, a bit of sleet and hail, but nothing you can go sledging in, unless you are playing cricket, which is also off the table.

Quiet day today.
I saw some ants moving house before. However, which way they are actually moving is anyone's guess.

Hello chaps, the Dagless PJ morning show is every bit as good as the Dagless Shah effort used to be.
Watch out for the ants, PJ. I've watched enough Attenborough shows to know that could move all your things out overnight and take over your house, turning you into a zombie slave in the process.

Yeah I would say I sucks being an ant right now. I saw the cool thing about wombats letting other animals use their tunnels during the fires.
Morning, Galts, I do miss Shah, the crazy Asian bar steward.
That fungal zombie thing that makes ants climb trees is a proper f**king horror show.

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
Had some small ants climbing up a wall to an outdoor light fixture yesterday. I thought it was just some dirt or grit washed out by the rain until I had a closer look. I used to live near these nasty bull ants which are very aggressive and fast moving too. They actually chase you if you walk on their turf. When you change direction so do they. The black ones are a decent size with huge orange jaws. Their sting is incredibly painful... like about 5-10 bee stings. Hard to kill too... they are like tough old rubber.

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
No I haven't. I should look it up and watch some of them.
I've seen those early 70s versions with Vincent Price. One minute it's dark... then it's broad daylight... then semi dark again. Nice looking actress in one of them... in Dracula A.D. 72? Scared me as a kid but I see it now as pure comedy.
I've been watching a few Sherlock Holmes movies starring Basil Rathbone lately though. Good value entertainment if you're not too fussy about the details.
