Common house spiders. We've had a lot of rain lately so they're obviously looking for a warm dry refuge.
Have to feel a bit sorry for our spider living in the UK if warmth and dryness is what they like.
Make a little cotton wool nest for it and take it up to Tino's. Pretty sure he'll have some space in the shed for it.
In amongst the thimble collection.

We are never on top in test matches in Australia, Galted. Just sometimes not losing as hopelessly as other matches.
You have to give Head some credit. He's knocked it around well since he came to the crease.

The fact that it's a 'Travis' and a 'Cameron' just rubs salt in the wounds, sounds like they should be characters in an 80s US teen movie.

Quite sad that we won't get de Kock and Head in the same test.

Yep. No doubt the opposition are good, but we make them look like Lara and Bradman sometimes.

It annoys me when people call him Cam. It has a bit of Steve McClaren calling Gerrard and Terry, Stevie G and JT about it.

The only way to bring Cam the giant down is with a slingshot... and have a good pair of running shoes if you miss.

Sun is shining. The government is collapsing (although thrashing ever harder in its death throws) but it is still January and a little bit sh!t.

Tird. Mrs Superfly suggested to me yesterday that I have a break from drinking for a few weeks as she thought it was affecting my mood.
I'm going to do it but am going to ensure that my mood stays exactly the same throughout - that'll learn her!

Re: Music Section Morning Tea Society
Must admit I was feeling a little dizzy yesterday. When Crawley and Burns were motoring along and I'd been on the match thread trying to out-jinx Alfie (who was winning at that stage... or earlier on at least... when Australia were getting bundled out) I desperately had to change the scene.
Firstly changed channels (pretending to be interested in Djoko's dilemma) and then went for a swim. Bloody hot.. so I staggered around in a confused and distressed state trying not to step on the equally distressed ants when hanging up the towel to dry. I then fished a bee or two out of the pool and tried not to think about the cricket.
Then thought I'd listen to the radio for a while but fell into a late afternoon siesta instead. I might have missed the first wicket but then I was rudely awoken by I think it was Aggers?... or it might have been Steve Finn. As I stirred from my slumber and entered the TV area; another wicket fell.
Honestly... I didn't expect such a total collapse but when I heard Vaughan mumbling "they've thrown in the towel" at 4 wickets down; it was about then that I also realised he might be onto something. (He should have been on the plane with Novak, btw, for his racist comments. Why the hell do they throw him a lifeline here? No wonder he's always smiling... who wouldn't; getting paid to hide from your own people at the far side of the world)
You can't change home conditions (here or there) but maybe the groundsmen need to harden the wicket areas up in parts of England somehow? Conversely, when Australia tour England; our blokes have seemed to struggle more over the last 20 years; 2019 maybe got away from Aus but I'm never comfortable watching them bat in such foreign conditions.

I was listening to Absolute Radio on Sunday morning. The Jason Manford show. I'm not bothered by him, in fact I would go as far as to say he isn't very funny, but his co presenter Steve Edge is very funny chap so I quite often listen to it.
Anyway, Manford was doing what Manford does, and selling his brand relentlessly and said he was doing a show in Runcorn in the next week! Could have posted this on the Runcorn thread but after about 8 minutes of deliberation I decided to post it here.

If alcohol tasted like it did when I was 18 then it would be fine - couldn't see myself turning to cans of Tennants (or Caffreys for a treat) every night, but there's a lot of good beer around these days and it tastes really nice.
She may have to relent and let me drink red wine if she doesn't want me to drink beer. I've been officially banned from drinking that since I drank two bottles and tried to start a Footloose style dance-off at her sister's wedding before the meal started.

It's one thing I do miss from Yorkshire, being able to get a decent ale.
Butter Tubs and Askrigg Ale from the Dales Brewing Co were another couple of favourites.

Sadly the Mended Drum is known more for its fights than its beers.
I tried popping into The Bucket but the Watchmen didn't like me being on their patch. Admittedly I was carrying a stolen broad sword to be fair.

There was actually a brewery called Discworld Ales a few years back. My brother got me and my dad a box of them for Christmas one year. They were actually pretty tasty. Ridcully's Revenge in particular. Sadly, I think they shut down though.

Will have to do some research, haven't heard of either. Have only tried Old Peculier in bottle form - was drinking Abbott's at the time but decided to try one new beer each Friday, OP was the second one I tried and it's taken over.
Don't often find anything decent on tap round where I live, Meantime's passable but I've learned that anything with London or a London borough in the name should be avoided.

Northern Monk and North Brewing are both good breweries. North Brewing's Transmission IPA comes in at a sporty 6.9% and is far too drinkable for something that strong.

I did a 'pub hike' a few years ago around the Dales. Basically a massive pub crawl where you hike village to village. 6 days, 90 miles, 40 pubs and 50 pints. Cracking times though there's no chance I'd manage all the booze now!Galted wrote:king_carlos wrote:Old Peculiar is a great pint.Galted wrote:superflyweight wrote:Tird. Dales Brewing Co, Ilkley Brewing Co and Wensleydale Brewery were favourites for the group. Almost everything we tried from them was fantastic.
There was one brewery though, I think it was Dark Horse, who had a remarkable ability to brew ales that tasted good but legitimately smelt like fart when they'd first been poured. It was absolutely bizarre. When the full pint went down in front of you and you lifted the glass up to take the first sip multiple beers they brewed smelt like heinous. Then once the head was gone and you were a few sips in the stench relented and they tasted OK. Part of me really wanted to do a tour of the brewery to find out if the entire place smelt the same.
