Surrey have named a 14 man squad for their opening game away to Hampshire Hawks in the Vitality Blast on Thursday 30th at the Utilita Bowl
Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Chris Jordan and Reece Topley are away with England and will miss at least the first eight games.  
Ollie Pope will captain whilst Chris Jordan is away.
Tom Curran, Laurie Evans, Spencer Johnson and Jason Roy are named in a squad for the first time this season.
There is no place in the squad for Matt Dunn, Ben Geddes, Conor McKerr or Ryan Patel.
Ben Foakes has joined Jamie Overton on the treatment table.
There is still no update on Tom Lawes

Things are bad when Burns and Sibley are named in a T20 squad, I'd hope that both will be practising drink duties.
Final spot will probably be between Clark and Steel and if the wkt is like the county game than Steel will probably edge it.

Well, we did so well last time.

This time it was Jacks not allowed to bowl and it nearly cost us in the end with Lawes bowling

Yeah, get that. Last night's win very much owed to SCurran as the previous one was to Jacks. Evans and Burns scored 15 between them yesterday from 19 deliveries. That's not what you want from your numbers 3 and 4 in a t20 - fortunate it didn't cost us.

Pleased to see Matt Dunn play and bag a couple in the PP. He's had a rough time and deserved an evening in the sun. I understand Frankie has a neck injury, more a niggle than anything too serious but it's reluctant to go away. Topley has a busted finger which probably won't mend until the next high paying overseas tournament comes round.

Last night's win guarantees we win the group and get a home quarter-final against the 4th placed team in the northern group (we'll know who after tonight's games). The q-fs are being played (one each night) from Tuesday 3rd to Friday 6th September. Word on the Harleyford Road is that our home tie will be the first game played and so on the Tuesday to allow maximum time before the start of the Oval Sri Lanka Test.

Dan Lawrence released by England to play in tonight's game at Kent.

With 1st place guaranteed you would hope Geddes and Patel would get a game.

JimBob - Understand why you say that about Geddes and Patel but doubt it will happen. Tricky enough to fit Lawrence in.

For Surrey, never seen Jordan bowl well, bat well, field well, and what other clown made him captain?
Look forward to this chase where Evans lasts more than an over, Lawrence gets double figures, and Burns and Sibley strike rate is over 200....try batting as a team and not leaving it for someone to do.... absolute pretenders, god knows how they're top of this group

Jack Leaning's done well against Surrey before and he delivered with both bat and ball tonight. A smart operator in limited overs cricket who regularly goes under the radar.
