First topic message reminder :

Surrey have named a 14 man squad for their opening game away to Hampshire Hawks in the Vitality Blast on Thursday 30th at the Utilita Bowl
Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Chris Jordan and Reece Topley are away with England and will miss at least the first eight games.  
Ollie Pope will captain whilst Chris Jordan is away.
Tom Curran, Laurie Evans, Spencer Johnson and Jason Roy are named in a squad for the first time this season.
There is no place in the squad for Matt Dunn, Ben Geddes, Conor McKerr or Ryan Patel.
Ben Foakes has joined Jamie Overton on the treatment table.
There is still no update on Tom Lawes

Things are bad when Burns and Sibley are named in a T20 squad, I'd hope that both will be practising drink duties.
Final spot will probably be between Clark and Steel and if the wkt is like the county game than Steel will probably edge it.

Middlesex are a poor opposition but nonetheless a handy and convincing win. Abbott taking the individual honours with a tidy fivefer.

Main concern seems to be Tom Curran being replaced mid way through his third over. Anyone know what that was about? Cheers.

He had a ball smashed back at him from Hollman, it was a sickening blow that struck him on the forearm. After treatment, and bandaging, he bowled 1 more ball before going off, hopefully only bruising and nothing more serious

I knew about Abbott but not Johnson. That was Johnson's last game, yes?

He's had a difficult gig always opening in the PowerPlay and done ok.

It seems poor by England to request and have Smith rested but not allow us Jacks, particularly as he didn't play the last few World Cup games.

I understand your own choice of the three to miss out although I'll guess those benched will be Geddes, Steel and a rested Worrall. That assumes the rain holds off - just started drizzling again here!

Hi Goochie - such is the life of a pro cricketer / gun for hire, soon after the Essex game finished on Wednesday, Sudharsan caught a flight to Zimbabwe where's he now in India's t20 squad for the first two games against the host country.

1 point tonight as the game is abandoned without a ball bowled.

Dan Lawrence has joined up with the England Test squad ahead of their series with the West Indies.
After a busy schedule, Will Jacks is having some deserved time off. At the request of the ECB, Sam Curran is also being rested. Both players will be available for selection next week.

After the interval in which there was more rain, it was announced over the PA that Kent would have 8.2 overs to bat (to reach a revised total) and the scoreboard showed that throughout their knock. However, the game ended after they had had exactly 8 overs. What the flip was that all about?

Jamie Overton is available to play as a batter as he continues his recovery from stress fracture of the back.
Dan Lawrence is needed by England to carry out drinks

Seems unhelpful to England, Surrey and Lawrence to not let him play. Bizarre.
