Glasgow & Edinburgh Discussion Thread 31: The Roadmap for Success Vs The Perpetual Roadworks of Incompetence
First topic message reminder :
As requested, another thread connected by the M8. Two teams about as comparable as Adam Peaty and Eric the Eel.
Will Glasgow build on their title win next season?
Will Edinburgh even make the top half of the table?
Speculation and more on another volume of the patter papers.

Why would he be daft to head to Bristol? They like playmakers across the backline regularly fielding all of MacGinty, Williams, van Rensburg and Malins who can all stand at first receiver. Jordan being able to play 10/12/15 would fit in well and with MacGinty rumoured to be signing on for one more year he'd have a veteran mentor.

he is settling in to a winning Glasgow team well, he is starting to get game time for Scotland. Money isn't everything

Yeah that wouldn't be a great look for him to move just as he qualified.
Duhan did the same!

Sharing the 10 shirt with Hastings at Glasgow though. Hastings has just returned as a bit of a headline signing. At Bristol it's a much simpler run to the starting 10 shirt with only an older MacGinty blocking him. Playing in that Bristol attack won't do his Scotland ambitions any harm.

Like I said, I don't mind it. SRU just announced a big loss and has aims to become profitable again in 2027.
I would ideally have likeed Jordan to stay another couple of years, however keeping one of Dempsey and M Fagerson will also be expensive. Zander is critical. Jordan leaves and we still have Hastings with Simpson being given an opportunity in the back-up spot. If anything, we need to see Simpson get gametime to see if he is ready.
EDIT: Tom Jordan is going to Bristol at the end of the season

Yes Hazel - Jordan to Brizzle.
I don't mind that at all as I'm sure he's moving there to start every week. Bears are currently 3rd in the Jeff and play an attractive style of rugby. Ironically, moving away from Scotland may be because Tom is worried Glasgow will start to play him at fullback more often to match the glint in Toonie's eye.
I have often thought that young Squinty MacGinty was a relatively weak link in that side and Lam clearly agrees.
We need to free up space for newcomers. We all know this is how it goes as the inbred but successful cousins in the URC.

Has he been in court recently?
I thought Montpellier only recruit from prisons

Despite paying £500k a year. MacGinty is the only senior specialist flyhalf on the books. Bristol are using Williams (normally a 12) or Malins (normally at 15) to cover. They had Rich Lane (a career wing/15) at 10 for one of the PRC games.
Sounds like MacGinty is signing for one more year as well though I'd bet not on the big money he has been.
