Was going to go to Smit, but had told myself before we started that I wouldn't go for any current players!

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game - Draft
I've considered 90% of those mate.
It's the hardest bit. But easily the best bit. Enjoying this draft - be interesting to see how the game itself pans out.

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game - Draft
Right, here is my choice for centre, and I am fully expecting a row over this, but I have checked the game rules and I do not see how it can be disallowed...
At centre I pick the crown prince of centres, Cameron Michael Henderson "Mike" Gibson.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Gibson_(rugby_player)
Played his final international match for Ireland in 1979, however continued to play top level club rugby until 1984. Nowhere in the rules does it specify must have played 'international' rugby in the 80's.

1.You can call your team whatever name you want
2.The players you buy must have played Rugby between 1980 to 2010

Hon once I've made my choice it doesn't matter if everyone knows!
Malcolm O'Kelly or Ali Williams at lock? Bearing in mind I have POC as the other lock..
Pete, I think you're opening up pandora's box there! I've said before if players are towards the tail end of their career I will rate them at earliest 1980. Many 1960-1970 players would have played rugby in some capacity into the 80's - club rugby, a local pub side, down the park with their children.. where do you draw the line?

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game - Draft
Very proud of you tonight. All updated.
Mike Gibson what a legend, but he is older than my dad and the oldest on this game so far might be a taught a bit of a lesson by other centres us younger one's know about.
Locks im surprised some haven't gone for some older one's, but everyone has a lock now can't go back on your words. Only Bathite to pick now for lock and he only needs one of them.
Olivier Roumet, Mark Andrews, Gary Whetton, Gareth Llewellyn the Scottish pair of Damian Cronin and Doddie Weir not been taken.
Have to look further back in time lads, get your thinking caps on for the last couple of rounds.

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game - Draft
Pull
I do take your point, and there are other players who I was going to go for who played their last internationals in 1979 and would probably have continued playing top level club rugby into the 80's. I didn't go for them as I could find no actual reference to them playing on after international retirement so thought I wouldn't go there however tempting.
With Gibson there is reference to him continuing to play top level club rugby, which is why I thought it worth a punt. How people choose to rate him is entirely up to them, I am not taking this game too seriously so not overly fussed about winning or losing to much, just having fun looking back over some of the greats of the game.

Just bringing the point up really, not too fussed if they get allowed or not!
I'm just gonna try and make my favourite side on here - not neccesarily the best but just players I've loved watching over the years.

Re: Rugby Union Legends Game - Draft
As we are waiting for Bathite in loads of positions, why not open Rounds 16 and 18 (back up scrum half and hooker) as everyone has had their first choice pick of those now?

Yes I will open back up scrum-half and hooker.
So Driver and Prop you can pick.
Bathite is online I see, if he doesn't hand his picks in tonight while everyone seems to be pretty active I will have to hunt his address down and send banafan to go a do some nasty on him. He seems to like his touchy and feely action does banafan, Bathite might not though
