First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence

So pull up a chair....what'll it be? appletini

Just watching the Sunday Game from last week. Two things from the Dublin-Galway game.

1. Galway need some decent players to back up Canning, whose goal was sensational.

2. Hurlers should never wear white boots.

Munsty,Galway were missing a few but oddly enough for them they are short of talneted young players. Usually they win or get close to a few underage all Irelands which doesn't seem to be happening. See Cork's demolition of Laois yet?

A farce of a game Thomond. Onto the Football now. To be honest, I much prefer highlights of Football. I find it dull watching full matches.

I was better at football but hurling is a far better game. Football doesn't get interesting till either Cork meet Kerry or until the quarter finals arrive. Although some Ulster Championship games are interesting.

Thomond,

I won't disagree though it's annoying how Football is by far the more popular sport.

I never played football though I do wish I had now.

In my view it's only more popular because pretty much every county plays in the actual football championship.(Kilkenny being one of the few exceptions). In hurling meanwhile,a lot of counties don't play it at a serious level (most of Ulster and Connacht).

I know that but I wonder why more counties don't play hurling.

It simply isn't a part of their GAA culture. You might also find that some counties wouldn't be good enough to compete seriously in both hurling and football. Hurling wouldn't be a game played up in Ulster and there is simply a lack of interest.(although talking to Rebelbhoy from the GAA boards it does seem to be improving). If you look at the counties who don't play hurling, the majority of them do fairly well in the football. You wonder is it due to a lack of interest or what.

I have nothing useful to add to the GAA discussion so I'll be back in laters maybe when the f1's on.

With regards to the 3D television discussion I concur that it adds nothing. For work given that I provide support to customers who buy 3D TVs I have had to observe a lot of them. I've found its an expensive gimmick that won't take off much.

Also went to a boxing event last night. Enjoyable enough.

Happy birthday Cari.

I am not really fussed about sport in 3D, but I disagree totally that sport in HD is a load of bollix. Watching TV in HD then going back to normal TV is awful. That's why I hate watching Magners League games compared to European ones.

Anyway, time for chores then going to watch Wigan's good win from last night. Supposed to be heading back to Lyneham, but I'm going to wait till after Top Gear.

Rev's right. HD is incredible and is fast becoming the standard. Even the cheapest of televisions now come HD ready. HD sports and Bluray are a noticeable step up in quality.

I can understand how ignorance is bliss in that respect.

Fair play I was feeling pretty decent but sitting in my car for a bit has brought on a headache. The inside of the car was red hot.

See Ireland copped another heavy defeat in the U20s.

http://www.irishrugby.ie/rugby/23339.php

38-24! So the game against Scotland is the only one we conceded below 30 points. That is embarrassing.

Not a great tournament for them. I just hope the guys we are depending on for the start of the league can get some well earned rest and recharge the batteries.

To be honest, I'm incredibly disappointed and unhappy that Craig Gilroy was included for todays dead rubber game. He should have been withdrawn as soon as we were out of the tournament. This is a guy who is playing first team rugby every week and is going to continue doing so.
