The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
ah this is brilliant, up to the end of 2011, the only 2 matches I'll have any trouble attending at Y Parc are the 2 Friday night matches v Edniburgh and Dragons. Should deffo be able to persuade my dad to go to one of them, might only be looking at missing one home game in the pro 12 in 2011. Super.

They're blydi herons, Penfro, not "wonderful wild life". We are training our dog to seek out and destroy all such beasties when they land in our garden.
Afternoon all.
Done the dentist. Had top fess upto breaking a tooth through eating toffee, so back in a couple of weeks for a filling. Question he asked was, did I want a standard amalgam filling or a "tooth-coloured" filling. Cost not hugely greater for the latter.
Any comments? The tooth is visible if I give a very broad smile.

Have you seen the price of GOLD? Not on my bank balance.
The weekend is beginning to start sounding a bit violent, what with teaching Hughie how to wield a pick axe and Asbo's ribs being broken. Way way too violent for a shrinking violet like what I is

Rev, as far as I can tell, the majority of Irish posters are basing their aspirations on strong Irish 6Ns performances in the pro-era and Leinster and Munster's Heino results in the last 5 or 6 years; non-Irish posters seem to put more weight on the overall 2011 6Ns results - simple as that. FACT. end of. !!

Asbo,it is getting a bit ridculous alright. I didn't even vote for Ireland,I only got into the argument over something Beshocked said about WC history. Anyone who thinks we're favourites for a WC semi spot is a bit wacko.

Things got a bit out of hand. I had to disarm the situation. I think that a few Irish fans have got a bit over the top (which I may have encouraged).

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
There was an article last week asking who would win if Ireland and England met in the World Cup, and one poster was 100% certain that England would win because England are 'a World Cup team.' They have a better World Cup record, there's no denying that, but that doesn't mean that they'll always do well in World Cups or that Ireland will always do badly. It's like concluding from early football World Cups that Uruguay would be there or thereabouts every time.

Ha, yeah they're a good side now, but after the early football World Cups they fell away. The point is that you can't extrapolate from a few tournaments how a team will do in all future tournaments.

I know it is a bit of an odd argument. People say that German always do good at World Cups. They do because they're one of the best teams in the world!

'lo folks. Back in my favourite Exeter establishment .
So many people down here are proud of their Chiefs; rightly so. A couple of cabbies I've spoken to fear '2nd season syndrome' though. I just reassured them that Newcastle should comfortably be the worst team in the Prem this season
Glad you had a good time in Dublin Cari.

The only thing the Chiefs can look forward to is a double tonking off the Dragons.
Hound, did you see I should be okay to travel to Gomez Park in the LV=.

I am LOVING Stags work on that thread. Just slightly exaggerating our natural confidence enough to hook a whole host of the more humourless posters
I'll only be annoyed if we get a heap of counter-wums if we do go out in the quarters (or even earlier! ). You know there's nothing that certain English fans hate more than an Irish success! I expect ridicule should our team fail to reach it potential, but... meh! It's only a game.

It would've worked better on Ye Olde 606 commenting about BOD and also questioning an Irishman's humility
Anyway, off for a run. Let's see what effects a week of living it up in Canada and jetlag has.

Nice one Cari (not the Birmingham bit . )
Notch - maybe some of the English posters will remember some of posts from Irish posters towards England during the 6N all bar 2008
Rev - I didn't see that, but will look forward to meeting up somewhere. Would love you guys to get to the Bootlegger before the game and welcome back from Canuckia.
