The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Hoi Gibbo, whash dat yer on ternite loike. Gimme some!
Wasps - we wait and see. Poff is the most interesting signing for me. I hope he brings some Kiwi 'jfdi' to our game. Many fans are hopeful that we'll turn it round this season. For me, we have lost the Wasps ethic unless these new guys buy into what we have been about.
Then again, we have lost so many influential players in recent years that I still think we are reconstructing. Some of the guys who came through the Academy, like Webber, Waldouck, Matthews and Simpson, need to 'grow up'. Become the focal point of the team, and become real leaders. Having a fit Tom Rees will be a huge part in making that happen.

Hound,
Rees is essential. As for the newbees fitting in, check your glorious History. They either fit in to the ethos, or they die and move on. Wasps remind me of Munster sometimes... Better elaborate on that when Im sober pal.

So did I, Glas!
Bore da pawb / good morning all, Friday is upon us! Whoop and, indeed, whoop!
I watched some of Traffic Cops yesterday. One bloke was clocked doing 116mph on the motorway and when they eventually caught up with him he'd been doing 60 in a 30mph zone. It turned out he worked at a garage and he was returning a customer's car to him!
The idiot's punishment? He was given a £300-odd fine and banned from driving for fourteen days. He should have had his licence taken from him!

Yes! But only after a protracted and lucrative judicial process. Remember, justice must not only be done, it must pay to be done.

Canterbury beat Tasman 36-32 in the ITM Cup. Win-win situation for Kiwi. Looked like a good game.

Morning Prop - just so you know, I'm not going to the sevens tomorrow. I know it'll be a great day out, but I've spent more money than I should have the last few weeks so I'm having a low-key one this weekend. I know Rhino's going though.

Morning
Am on my own in the office today and next week I'm on another secondment for a week so I should crack on...
My sport cosmic shopping list for this weekend is:
A win for Wales.
Chilli and Flannery have a really good game.
McFadden scores a try (or two...).
A win for the Dubs.
Not too much to ask is it...?

Well I didn't know that:
'William Wallace was the younger son of a Scottish knight and minor landowner. His name, Wallace or le Waleis, means the Welshman, and he was probably descended from Richard Wallace who had followed the Stewart family to Scotland in the 12th century.'

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Right, gotcha now. Yes, when I first started living in Devon (c. 20mins away from Exeter), the Chiefs (in the Championship, or ND1 as it was then) were the nearest quality team to go and watch (I started out taking Caro's grandfather to the odd game, but then bought season tickets) Naturally by birth and growing up, my local team would have been Glasgow Hawks, and pro-district team would be the Warriors, but I've been away for 21 years nowred_stag wrote:AsLongAsBut100ofUs wrote:Hmm, last time I checked, yes - why?red_stag wrote:Asbo - a question, is Exeter in Devon?

What? Shadows of your former selves, prostituting your waning talent in a team of players who's sum total of ability is roughly half of what yours was in your prime?

Right for this weekend only I don't care about Wales v England. They can shove it as far as I am concerned. I will be supporting one of the Gaelic teams (I haven't decided which yet*) in protest at the powers that be selling out to the corporate behemoth.
*will view any pitches with interest.
