First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence

So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Ale

They get asked to stop. If they don't they get warnings. If they don't heed the warnings they can face a ban. Thats how I understand it. As I say if you don't agree with a particular post then alert a mod.

Not the point stag, you deliberatly went out yesterday to WUM (and freely admitted it) and in my opinion a wum is a wum no matter how you dress it up

I would say that as one of the more respected posters on here Stag, you are a sort of role model. So when people see you doing what you did, they might see that it's alright and maybe push it that little bit further. That's when certain posters will bite and it gets out of hand.

We need to set a good example on here.

Morning all.

To back up what Dreamer said, I'll look at a thread where there's banter going on, and only step in if I think it's getting people pretty het up. I'll add I was in meetings half of yesterday afternoon and missed most of Stag's efforts Wink

And I spent the evening in Regent's Park drinking beer and waving a softball bat about Very Happy. Didn't get home until past midnight so sleepy today.

Watching some ITM Cup. Northland v Bay Of Plenty. Just seems ridiculous sometimes that a player like Lelia Masaga isn't even in the reckoning for the New Zealand squad.

hughie1986 wrote:What's the difference between Wummers and what stag was doing yesterday?? It seems like their is double standards for some posters on here.

Several things really :

1 - I would stop immediately if asked by any moderator or administrator

2 - I sent PMs to anyone I thought may have been getting overly annoyed to keep things mellow

3 - It generated banter without any swearing, threatening behaviour or calling people vulgar names

4 - Nobody reported any of my posting to a moderator

Wow, you thought Biltong and I might have been getting overly annoyed? Really? i think the differences are fairly simple tbh. If you generally 'get along with' the poster you're debating with, it almost never ends in tears - the worst it can get is an agreement to disagree. It's the other type of poster, the ones that just won't let something go, often pedants, they do ma heid in! furious But like Kiwi advised, it's deep breath, count to 10, then zen

I guess the issue is that Staggy's wumming yesterday was what I'd call WUMming-lite!! Laugh It would have to have escalated way beyond that to be offensive. The real WUMs don't necessarily even realise they are doing it, they are simply so wound up, so dogmatic in their views, and they've lost the heid - I'm with Kiwi and dreamer, just shoot them, we all know who they are thumbsup

I assure you I'm not Munsty, it seems to me that because stag has an in-depth knowledge of the game avnd is friends with most of the mod team that he can get away with a hole lot more than he should do, your average poster would at least be on a warning by now

Just like a team who plays some real rugby instead of a few chino wearing Dubs who realised its trendy to follow a real mans game. Drafted in a crew of foreigners to teach them to play.

Cat calling the Rabbit hairy hole is it not Stag with some of your jibes there?

To step back to the original post (and ignore the personal enslaughts being thrown about).

I think Hughie has a point. I just mean sometimes we label someone as an absolute tool because he may WUM and therefore we hate him.

But when one of us do it, we accept that as banter as we know what the person is really like..

Now, I am not saying we are wrong to accept it as banter as I think it's obvious that person is just having a bit of fun.

But why do we presume the guys who we haven't met and don't know aren't also having a bit of fun and banter. simple because we haven't met them..

I think there is other words other than WUM needs to be used to describe some of the "WUMMING" that goes on from time to time. These are just K/N/O/B/S anyway..

that is all Smile

It's completely double standards. Stag stages a wumathon and it's almost encouraged by the mods/admins. Someone else does it and they get written warnings and without having any of their posts being deleted/edited. Seems as if you're in the "in crowd" you can say what you want without sanction as it's just "banter". Poor show.

how about we term them wum's and troll's? There's a distinct difference between the two.

friends in high places Notts.. should try it pal. gets you into all the cool places..

they've met Stag so know what he means by his banter.. equally we have meet one or two that we know are just bitter so and so's and therefore know how to treat them.

it's the ones in between I would feel sorry for.

Nottins - I should probably claify things. Basically I'm top dog and I therefore do as I please when I please. OK

The difference,in my view between what Stag did and what others have done is that others do it a lot. Stag, does it once in a full moon.
