The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Gibbo, well spotted, but I can't delete Tallafornia from it just yet, I haven't totally let go!
Why should you? Ever? You brought Leinster Rugby to Tallaght, long before Leinster Rugby trained there. I blame you, ya trailblazer ya.
I know some people who say they were born near Clontorf and wont admit to being from Cill Easra. Knobs.

Evening all. Once again I'm down at our Exeter office for a few days. I've had very productive meetings with our service and support side of things. Another such meeting tomorrow. I'm trying to find a better way of doing things rather than get bombarded with emails as I can't normally just walk over and talk to these people like my colleagues down here.
Currently enjoying a pint of Yellowhammer in the Well House Tavern opposite the Cathedral. Nice spot . As will know the ale of which I speak!
Off to meet up with the rest of the team for a bit of Nando'ing at 7. Hmm, I can cram another pint in

FFS. And I mean FFS.
The bloke presenting Wales Today has said that there's a report coming up about "Wales match against England." He meant Wales's match, of course, but he said Wales, just like the other bint does. There's also a radio station that boasts of being "Wales number one station." You wouldn't say "England number one station," would you? Why won't people say Wales's?!

Ha, there's 3 people sitting on the plinth of a statue on Cathedral Green and unbeknowst to them there's a seagull sitting on top of the statue. "Now, which one is it to be" I can almost hear the seagull thinking

I'm on the settee with glass of wine in hand watching some fit English bird roughing it on an island near the Cook Islands and wondering which cache to go for tomorrow.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Just got back in after going for food and drinks with one of my friends. Absolutely lovely evening, great having a catch up with her, wish we could meet up more often!
One of the disappointments though was that 'Spoons have stopped serving curry with half and half rice and chips. I am genuinely disappointed by this. I love my curry to be half and half. Ah well.
Hope everyone is having lovely evenings
P.S Lucky - that bothers me too, don't know why they can't say Wales's!

Dad update.
Got a text from him last night saying he was hoping to be hopping about tomorrow and home in a week. Got one tonight saying he's now on IV antibiotic, 6 times a day for 2 weeks due to an infection, probably in his stomach.

Yes, but is it Pedants Corner, Pedant's corner, Pedants' Corner or Pedants's Corner?
Or Pedantry Corner.

I've been doing that all day. At least I can hide behind the jetlag excuse for today. Tomorrow I will have to go to the gym or something and do some chores.
Really been looking forward to the Richard Parks documentary though.

Cymro -
That's for you bud.
No, not going to the game. Twickenham types put me off these days.
Probably heading to Ealing who are playing Corus Saints from Wales in a pre season friendly. Then scoot back to a local pub for the game. It will be a real test for some of your youngsters if the Wales team is as expected. I predict England will be full strength, and then play the 2nd XV next week. Maybe with a bit of 'cavalry' on the bench
Nos da folks, I've had a nice evening in Exeter

This just absolutely had to be replied to.
It depends on how many pedants there are, Glas.
If only one, then "pedant's corner";
if more than one, then "pedants' corner".
However, given the concentration of pedants in this noble establishment, I suggest the default position is "pedants' corner". One could argue that within this pub there is a corner reserved for pedantry - Pedantry Corner.
As I am still proof-reading this thesis, my pedantry skills are well-honed by now.
To bed, to dream of something other than Bosnia and Kosovo.
Just remembered - dentist tomorrow

Ah yes Kia, (nice to here from you by the way) that's what you'd think. However it seems to me that it depends if the use is adjectival or possessive. If adjectival of course there should be no apostrophe at all! Do the pedants own the corner or is it the means of identifying the corner by it's description? This raises another point of course, is the corner an actual thing? Or is it a metaphor? If so then the use of an apostrophe at all is surely called into doubt.

We had cavity wall insulation put in a few weeks ago in order to try to assist with keeping the house warm in winter and keeping the fuel bills down.
It clearly works as it is now constantly phooking roasting in my house. I have all the windows open and fans on and it is boiling still, roll on winter!!!
