The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the Tommy Bowe photo on the bar. That's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

I see both Scotland and Northern Ireland have taken the lead.

It can be Notch just that we have pretty poor infrastructure throughout the country. Anyway, with refinement, we can create our own style which will always be a little more direct.

Not watching it but Ireland 's jersey looks like an old NI one: http://www.vintagefootballshirts.com/avactis-images/nir92hs_s.jpg
Notch, ROI have some of their best talent coming through in years but under both Paul Foolin and Trap they won't succeed

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with playing to your strengths. Just leaves me cold. And teams run rings around us... well, Croatia are perhaps being a little bit too patient here
Waiting for chinks to appear. To be fair Ireland are well organised. I'll keep you up to date on the NI score. If they score again, I'll hear the reaction in my flat. Surprising how far the sound carries.

Well, the two teams basically have the same kit to be fair. There's only so much difference you can imply in a green shirt and white shorts.
Yeah, Ireland are very conservaive Thom I get it. The kind of team that celebrates 0-0 draws away from home

A draw is never a cause for celebration. It can make you happy but celebrating would be going too far.

Ugh, Bayonne 40-3 Ulster. An absolute belting, even for a first preseason game.
Ulster have used all 11 of their subs, including all 4 props they named.

They did get a bandwagon to some degree. For a team like Ulster, 3rd place and quarter finals are big achievements

Hughie, he spelt it wrong. Basterd is spelt with an "ard" at the end.

No. Stag,I think they reached the heady heights of 2nd early on in the year.
Hughie, I was able to call you a basterd for a number of reasons, Number one because I'm great. Number 2 because I'm a legend. Finally,I spelt it the wrong way to emphasis my point.

Ah they're smart though Thomond. They've won a Magners League and Heineken Cup. But back before the big boys took it seriously.

Not sure really Cari. I'm annoyed cos I'm in from a long run in the rain which was nice. However I have developed 2 very painful blisters and cut myself shaving this evening too.

I can. Leaving Limerick at 2am. Heading down to Cork and then early morning flight to Malaga. I've decided it will be technology free for me. Leaving phone, laptop etc behind.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
My sister had to go to hospital today as she had a seizure a few months back but it looks like the results are positive. Also proud of myself that I picked up a pair of those full length legwarmers for a fiver.

Bring a bit of newspaper or cardboard for under your shoes and you'll be grand. Wooly hat and a coat. Save your cold beer until your in the warm pub.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Hopefully she will be Stag, the tests were a bit difficult for her. She is autistic and found it difficult not to be able to go to sleep last night.(The type of seizure she had occurs in your sleep,so the doctors were hoping she would be able to sleep for the tests.) It was hopefully the one and only time it has happened. I'm a bit tired myself,as I was helping the family keeping her entertained last night so won't be on here for much longer.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I'm fairly positive that this scoreline will motivate the players. I hope they get a bollocking all the same. They'll come back stronger.
I'm just really worried if we end up starting with a 10-12 combination of McKinney-Whitten. Whilst Humphreys and Wallace is one of the best midfield in the league, and Humphreys-Marshall is decent enough behind that we are pretty bad to be honest. We need Humph back for Glasgow!

dear god that is awful. Just back from a run and enjoying a beer to rehydrate and just seen the score . That wasn't a bad ulster line up either. FFS I hope thats a wake up call for the boys that were out there because a belting like that just isn't acceptable even in a friendly.

Hughie its not the result, its the score. The attitude must have been attrocious to be walloped like that. I think a few of those guys minds must be still on holiday.

One shouldn't rehydrate with beer Rodders, not cool. Back from the driving range to discover Northern Ireland have actually won a game. Shhh just whisper it though in case they hear us.

Thom, hope everything turns out better for your sis.
Hughie, you stink of urine and Poopie and look like a poorman's Boris Becker. You can whistle if you think I'll ever dig a hole for you, that skirt wearer, that mangy mutt or that Kiwireddipstick
Just sat down to eat my subway (hungry after gym) and realised I'd walked round a supermarket and the garage with the Subway with my fly undone. Silly me.
I bought a Welsh Rugby League top for Wembley (four nations double header) and it arrived today. Also pretty excited about the Welsh team announcement tomorrow.

Hi all. Pre season friendlies are there to give the whole squad a run out and shake off the rust. So Wasps gave Leinster a whupping last year, and look who won what in the end.
That's it, zzzzzz time for me.

Wow just seen this on try in the NRL on FB:

What at try! OK it was a bit of a fluke but that's outrageous.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Ulster used six props tonight, very little continuity up front... most important thing being to give everyone a run-out really. Very frustrated with the result but optimistic that this will serve as a harsh lesson and we'll get our asses in gear before the real stuff. Not really worried about that. It's about reacting the right way.
I wrote quite a long post about it, but I decided to post it on the relevant thread instead in the Club Rugby section.

Wouldn't be surprised about Henson. Stoddart's injury has opened the door.
Be intrigued to see the Irish team as well.
