England vs India - third ODI
First topic message reminder :
So here we go again, England have won the toss and decided to bowl first, Cook feeling it isn't easy to defend a score here at the Oval. England make the one change, with Trott coming back into the side for Samit Patel, while India make two changes: Jadeja in for Tiwary to strengthen their bowling, and R.P. Singh for Vinay Kumar.
England team
AN Cook*, C Kieswetter†, IJL Trott, IR Bell, RS Bopara, BA Stokes, TT Bresnan, GP Swann, SCJ Broad, JM Anderson, JW Dernbach
India team
AM Rahane, PA Patel, R Dravid, V Kohli, SK Raina, MS Dhoni*†, RA Jadeja, R Ashwin, P Kumar, MM Patel, RP Singh
Surprised Aaron still not given a go...

Think I might stop contributing to these match threads, even if we were 400-0 off 30 overs it's still be manically depressing in here.

Re: England vs India - third ODI
OK eng did a briliant job in losing this one. poor team , poor batting, poor captancy when in control. Just a bad day at the office from a team that struggle to cope in this form.
The young team need to learn and learn fast from India how to turn around a bad position.
oh and stokes.. ermm, why?
India will win this series 2-1 (as it'll be rained off next week in Cardiff). Flower needs to look for help in coaching this form and rethink his team.

ok apologies but lets be honest 50-5 to this mess of an innings is not acceptable.
how can Vaughn say they can ever win the world cup if they can't beat an India that are pretty Poopie and there for the taking?
This India , an average side, is going to win this series sadly. So we must still be far far way from what we could and should be if we could translate test form into short forms.
england have now lost on dl if the rain gets heavy again.

Re: England vs India - third ODI
Yep, it was poor to allow them to get as many as they did after the start we had. Our batting is weakened at the moment and is being shown up by some very good spin bowling from India. It's still winnable from here, not over a run a ball rate yet but Bres already in looks like too much to do. To say we'll lose the next match already is laughable.

Re: England vs India - third ODI
i'm just going by the fact that we have little behind the top few.
the first match was a warning we were poor and we're seeing it again now.
Moggy out should have forced KP back, the order is all wrong at the mo. Lose CK and Cook and you're stuffed.
agreed Bres in too early. Needs to be with 30 left.

I really hope that Bopara produces the type of innings that the selectors have been hoping he can and see England home.

I am so deeply scarred by the Athers era aren't I. Being worsened by Sky India constantly telling me it's all over.

Built himself a little reputation for doing just that at the 2007 WC.

Re: England vs India - third ODI
Stokes looks like he'll be a useful number 7 in the future if he can sort his bowling out it would be ideal. I think a top 6 of Cook, CK, Bell, KP, Morgan, Taylor would be my choice going forward.

I think we've all been affected by the Athers era (unfair that he's associated with it really) but it's hard not to be positive about England. Winning mentality is hard to break, and England have it at the minute.

I do agree with those who say Taylor needs a look. Just Ireland was harsh.
Maybe Moggy being done should be the prompt to bring him in? The little man might do well.

True. It is harsh. he was a great player in a poor team.
Yeah i think for eng though this is a very messed up line-up and it's showing,
What worries me is we never seem able to put out our best ODI team and are never entirely sure what that team is.
I am of course glad we excel at real cricket above this.

Bopara single handedly dragging the RRR back up over 6.

Alot is resting on Bresnan here. I know that the RRR isnt too high but he will have to take some risks if Bopara is only going to protect his wicket

Re: England vs India - third ODI
still, eng always like to make it interesting and give value for money; that has to be said,
Can they ever gain the quality to be a killer team like Aussie (still are looking at their dominance again of late).
aren't the Indians wearing lovely cuddlecoats.. it's not even cold

Bopara really needs to learn to avoid fielders if all he's going to do is get singles.

india still finding spin to slow it down.. very clever.
did conditions change as the pitch got old or was Swann poor today?

damn it's over
we've had fun toying with India , now they are toying with us.
some of their fans even bothered to stay to watch it.. lots gone already mind.
spinners did well... swann has me worried they've made him look a monkey today.

Big Bres misses a quicker straight one. 25 needed at pretty much run a ball. Gonna be tight!

Re: England vs India - third ODI
tight tight tight.. never should have been though.
Flower needs a look at his line-up.
problem is he won't, next friday will be rained off and sunday will be the same team.
i see eng lost 8 overs and 3 overs of pp.. harsh. the pp is where India did well.

Re: England vs India - third ODI
India are full of zip and purpose. It's a very different India from that of the test series or the last over at Hampshire when they had taken a pounding.
but then well played Swannage.. beat an India that we certain they had the game.
can we dent their confidence.. can we finally stop their fans dancing like they've won it after every ball!! (no def not.. lol).

Good bottle at the end from Swanny and Broad!. Another England victory!
Re: England vs India - third ODI
Well played England. Looks like England will win this series as well now as the remaining matches will surely be affected by the weather.
Credit to India for putting up a really good fight though.
