Every few months Dame Doon and I make a bucket of vegetable soup and freeze it into 250gm tubs..... costs pennies

Agreed Doon, there is absolutely no reason why anyone A) Can't eat both cheaply and healthily and B) is obese.

Re: Golf Quiz[z]
Strange but True
A match in South Africa took place between a golfer an angler and an archer.
All three were champions at their sport.
The archer had to hit a target on the green or within a bows length of the pin which counted as a one putt.
The angler [with a weight] had to hit the green or a rods length for a one putt.
The match was very close.
Who do you think won?
I shall let this run for a bit to see who get it right.

Sounds like a trick question but it was not!
The golfer built up a steady lead but the angler finished strongly and won.

I was just thinking on a 400 yard hole the angler would probably take 4 to get to the green the golfer 2 shots and the archer could probably cover that distance with one shot or 2 at the most. I though it would be a relitavely easy win for the archer…

Not Natalie Gulbis.
Think I'll offer another clue:

2).I have won Pro Tournaments, but never competed in the Presidents or Ryder Cup.
3).I have a close relationship with Harmon.
4).There was quite a splash during one of my PGA Tour play-offs.

hend,
I think Natty Natalie is of Latvian descent, just like tennis player Ernests.
"Cheeky"? What a cheek!
I was going to add as a clue:
I have attained a higher position, at least in the past decade, in PGA Tour career earnings that any other golfer who has not been selected for Presidents Cup or Ryder Cup Teams.
Wonder if you can guess who the corresponding "International" Player might be.
Who is the International golfer to have attained the highest career earnings position who has never been selected for Presidents or Ryder Cup Teams since the Presidents Cup began in the early nineties?

Yes, not even for 2011.
Sabbatini played (badly) in Montreal in 2007.

Re: Golf Quiz[z]
Yup, Stephen Ames. He'll be joining Sluman on the Champions Tour in just over two years. Lots of juicy facts about Ames to generate trivia clues.
Plus he's won the Disney stop in 2007 and 2009. Every other year . . . . . ! If he'd won Disney prior to P Cup selection in 2007, he'd've qualified, and would have been very close in 2009. Not this year though.

Mac, i've cheated and looked this up as i didn't know what the Tooting Bec trophy was.
To give others a hand though, would i be right in thinking the answer is a tie between 2 players?
Doubles your chances!

if the tooting Bec cup is what I think it is, isn't it Faldo with 5 wins, and James braid had 4 or am I thinking along the wrong lines... I know Coltart is the most recent winner and Donald before him

I rekon Mav's right about Faldo...?
Although the latest winner(s) would be DC and GMac in 2011, Coltart got it in 2010...

The tooting bec cup is awarded to the golfer with the lowest single round score in the open who is a member of the GB&I PGA association. They must be born in GB&I or have grandparents of that origin.

My querry with this little cup is why did Coltart get it last year and not Rory? He shot a 63 in the 1st round at St. Andrews, Coltart only shot a 66... Is he not a PGA member?

Not many golf courses in Tooting, a little 9 holer just up the road near Wandsworth Common which is basically just a field with some flags in it.
Tooting is the perfect place for a curry afterwards though.

Re: Golf Quiz[z]
Kwini and PD
It must be the case that neither Rory or Nick price were members of the GB&I PGA at the time they shot the lowest score.
The cups(or in fact medal) origins are unclear but it seems it was once the southern section qualifying tournament for the Sphere & Tatler foursomes and that Andrew Coltard is yet to receive his prize. All I know is that nick faldo has won it 5 times, which is more than anyone else. Even the mighty monty only won it three times.

Gotcha!
Won't spoil it for anyone else but I think the "unique" aspect of Major distinction was mentioned during the recent Tommy Fleetwood Mac'isms.
Also relatively recently suffered a Masters penalty when in contention as a thinned bunker shot, hit a lip, came back and struck him.
Nice one!!

Record low round is 63, so of all the guys to do that, I'm thinking its one of three, Jodie Mudd, Bruce Crampton and Paul Broadhurst. Not sure about Mudd and Crampton would assume they played all majors 4 rounds at some point so I'll go for Broadhurst! Unless Isao Aoki didn't play in all 4 majors he's another worth a shout at this one!

In all honesty with regards tot colombian one Ned had to google it as it stumped me, quite an impressive record that one.
Oakey, good question that one though, I remember broadhurst shooting 63 and thought he'd never made all the rounds of the majors, never quite lived up to his full potential.
