The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of great current props' pictures on the bar. We've got Castrogiovanni, Beast, the Franks brothers, Mas, Tonga'uiha, Roncero, Cian Healey (as demanded by Hughie), Stevens, Murray, Mike Ross, Adam Jones and Steenkamp all in action. Graffiti's a banning offence
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

I don't care how they do it mrsp
It's lush
I have made apple strudel from scratch. Including making and rolling the pastry. Some cooking is about patience and a bit of graft. It's worth it if the food turns out nice.

It is indeed Hound.
I am very fond of recipes which taste like they have taken many hours to prepare.
I don't mean using preprepared stuff, just good food cooked nicely.
MrP tells a story from before I knew him when he had spent many hours to produce an excellent Coq au Vin and one of the lads who had come for dinner asked for Ketchup!
Not sure he was invited back!

Tatin is a sort of upside down tart;a tart is the same thing as a pie but it doesn't have a pastry cover on it;thus Pukka Pies and not Pukka Tarts(in the polo set)

My fish pie is a thing of wonder, Chef, and preparations included a trip to the fuit and veg market where, on Thursdays, there is also a fishmonger who beats the supermarket offerings into a cocked hat. But, hark! I hear the final whistle. Later, amigos.

I know what you mean mrsp. That would get my pip!
I love my slow cooker for casserole type dishes. Prep the stuff in the evening and put the pot in the fridge overnight. Pop it into the cooking part in the morning, put it on a low heat and it's ready when you come in.
A cracking invention is the slow cooker.

Shamrock Rovers are the richest club in Ireland. They are funded by their "400 club" which contains 400 shareholders aswell as a mysterious backer. They have been Ireland's most successful club throughout history.

Tarts do tend to be sweet(s) and eaten at the end of a meal are lighter because they lack the extra crust of pastry. savoury tarts include quiche, onion tart, cheese tart etc, usually served with a green salad.I'm doing smoked salmon tarts and tomato and mustard tarts as starters for a catering job tomorrow..

My gran's tarts had two crusts of pastry. They were lovely. Enough sugar to power a small motorbike.

The concept of the Scotch pie is a fine one. You can put mash, mushy peas and gravy in the large 'lip' of the pie.
The finest pie I had at rugby was the steak pie at Firhill in the HC last season. It almost made up for Wasps' abject display that day

Doing well Chef, but I see Spurs running them ragged in the 2nd half. Superior fitness & skill will tell in the end. I hope they don't - they are my team since the 70's.

So, I'm at the fruit market and get into conversation with this woman on merits or otherwise of different apple varieties.
Her: Russets - they're my husband's favourites, but he's not here so I don't have to buy them - don't like them myself
Puma: Quite right, too. Mine is on the golf course, so I'll be buying what I want.
Her: Oh, my husband's been dead for years! But at least I don't have to buy russet apples any more
Whoo. Left open-mouthed - bit of a conversation stopper.

She ran for the Presidency before, several years ago I think.
And wasn't she an MEP too??
Our wee Rosie Brown is all growed up.
Her manifesto is very far reaching.
In fact it has all kinds of everything in it.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Evening all,
my brain has just about recovered from another Welsh lesson.
Just a quick visit to say I love getting e-mails from the Scarlets:
"How many other clubs have witnessed their players achieve the following in one competition?
record breaking number of international caps (Stephen Jones)
3 tries scored on full international debut (Scott Williams v Namibia)
scoring a brace of tries in 15 minutes off the bench as a replacement (George North v Namibia)
first international cap (Ken Owens v Namibia)
63% of all points scored in a game done so by a region's players (Scarlets players v Namibia)
Come and join us for this very special event and wear your club (or nation's) colours with pride!"
not sure the % point was needed but I do love it all the same.
Mick - hope you've been having a wonderful penblwydd! (birthday)

Just sent the father (spurs fan) a text as they equalised. Fair play to the Rovers though.

That's impressive RD da iawn.
I was just looking at the fixtures the officials don't get much time off
Nigel Owens for instance is the Ref tomorrow in the South Africa Samoa match then he is touch judge in the England Scotland match Saturday.

This Rovers side plays far better football than Ireland when it relaxes and has a go. Build on it in the future. Don't keep defending v bigger teams. They dont like it when you keep the ball. Football is such a simple game really. Its all about possession.
