The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the virtual rugby pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the collage of the captains of the World Cup Quarter Finalists pictures on the bar. We've got Sam Warburton, Brian O'Driscoll, Lewis Moody, Thierry Dusautoir, John Smit, James Horwill, Felipe Contepomi and Richie McCaw.
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

That's fair enough. It's on RTE anyway, so you might get to see some of it

Can someone confirm this for me? Was there a big changeover in September with something to do with freeview? If so, what do we need to do to fix it?

Yes it was the best pub atmosphere I've ever experienced - strange as it was an Aussie bar. I remember I had to bargain with the girlfriend to go there straight away instead of watching on telly in Marylebone.
By the end she didn't want to go and that match has meant she has had not one quib about the early rises for the games.
Your welcome buddy
Happy birthday by the way,

Ah Munsty this was my bread and butter in my old job. Basically throughout the UK the analogue signal is being switched to digital at different dates. When it happens you'll lose channels. Just retune your tv and all will be fine. You will have to do it again in 2 weeks time. If your TV is too old a £20 digibox will fix it.
Thanks Gibbo - I'm really grown up 23 years old today

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Agree with you on that front Cymro. I think sometimes people find it hard to be a good winner.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Yeah, the same goes for all of us. I have a feeling if we lose there may be some interesting articles/comments from some posters.
I've been on both ends a few times - if you lose, it's always best to front up and congratulate the winner and make a few positive comments about the opposition. If you win - you should never gloat. I saw some comments after the 3N which I disagreed with... but hey, I can understand how they feel when I'm in that position.
If Australia win - I will not be rubbing it in... no matter how good that might feel. In my experience - humility and respect are the key things to remember. After all, sport is an ongoing thing. Never burn your bridges and spit the dummy (win or lose) as everyone will remember... and there's always the next match where it can all come crashing down hard - like 10 tonnes of bricks!

Exactly line. I must log off now but I'm saying here I'll be a good winner tomorrow no gloating to the Welsh subtly or otherwise.
However I wish them ill luck in the meantime

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Is it harder to be a good loser or a good winner?
I like to think most of us in here are pretty good on both counts. It's one of the reasons why we all click.
It's going to be really tense tomorrow morn. So much at stake. Lets not lose our rag with each other and enjoy the fact that we are 2 of the best teams at this RWC. No one gave either of us a chance before it started. They (the SH), are sitting up and watching us both with great interest now.
Whatever happens tomorrow, we have shifted the balance for the NH. Together. It is fitting of a SF. And it's a crying shame that one of us has to go home.
Credu! Believe! Geloven!

You know what?
I'm not even nervous.
Not because I am supremely confident of an Irish victory or anything, just because I am so pleased that both Ireland and Wales are in the Quarters and being discussed in ways that we could only dream about 6 weeks ago.
I just love that the SH guys have really taken notice of our wee teams.
Obviously I really really want Ireland to win but I absolutely want the winner of this game to go all the way and they will have my full support from now till their RWC is over, whether they have green or red shirts on!
Just want a great game with no injuries that will make the other semifinalists worry!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
That's right mate... it will be a shame to see one, two or three of us go.
I'm actually more looking forward to your game tomorrow than our one on Sunday.
Strange? Yes, well you guys have helped me understand a lot more about the NH game with your volumes of dissertations on players, combos, strategies. It's been fascinating to read most of it.
p.s. I did say I would like to see a NZ-Ireland Final way back in July? Seriously. I wasn't sure how it might eventuate (although I did express some worry about the Ire-Oz game back then too - and I was right about that!)... but so far it has all gone exactly to your Plan Gibbo.
After the events of the last few weeks (letting go & all that) - I would be so thrilled for you and the lads if Ireland win tomorrow and next week and the week after... also for the Welsh fans if they win. Same can't be said for two other teams. Australia - bah... yeah, another one would be great but honestly... all the crap that would go with it, not sure I could stand to listen. I'm also happy for some people if the ABs win it. I love to see so-called 'myths' shattered into a million pieces too.
Come what may - we will all get on with our lives and be back for more next time around I'm sure.

It's harder to be a good loser, Gibbo. Especially after a semi. Losing a semi is worse than losing a final.

Thanks Gibbo.
I know what you mean. It must happen. Just for some f'n peace of mind for yours truly.
I'd rather hear you guys say "bring on NZ... we're ready this time"
Nice watching our chunky Dave Warner smash those 6s... Bangalore need 204. Jeez the Chinnaswamy went a bit quiet towards the end. Can they do it?

Its true T. Losing a Semi is devastating. So near, yet so far.
But if Ireland do make a SF, and lose... and as much as that would hurt, I would still be as proud as feck. And Deccie will be a Hero.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Afternoon all.
Not been in much this week, mainly down to work but mostly because I'm feeling just sick with nerves about the match tomorrow, it hasn't half put me in a bit of a funny mood.
I thought the build up to the SA game was bad enough but this is something else entirely!
I can safely say, I've never wanted my team to win a match more than I want them to win this one. I just...I dunno, this rwc has really gotten to me, I've enjoyed it all so much, there have been so many great teams and great matches and I just don't want it to end for Wales. I think we've got so much more to show and to prove (and I know the same thing can be applied to Ireland!)
Just want to say, the best of luck to Ireland for tomorrow. I won't be posting in here I don't think (at the moment I'm all planned for going to watch it in the Walkie but I might change my mind come the morning!).
I hope both sides can go out and do us proud. I know it's going to be horrible for one set of fans so like others, I really hope there's no rubbing in from the winning set of fans.
Pob lwc to everyone, but especially Wales. Ymlaen Cymru

oops... not gloating - just thinking aloud with that second last sentence.
I felt a touch sorry for the Indians last summer too - getting dismantled by England. It's best to be a decent human being and "love thy enemy..." even when your team thrashes the pants off them. Not hard to do really and you'll feel better in the morning...

Thank goodness I have the Scarlets to take my mind off it later (although giving how we've been playing, it might not be a very enjoyable experience to watch them right now!)

I've actually picked them to win by 3 Cari. They're doing what they did in the 6N's and playing some really good rugby. Reckon it'll be close but they might just edge it. I certainly really hope they do anyway!
I'm not confident about the Scarlets at all, just so glad we've got a few players like Lamont, Manu and Timani available to us in a couple of weeks, boy do we need them!

Erm, think they've been given two weeks, possibly 3. I know Manu has more time off because he has a bruised shoulder.
I don't think we'll be seeing the rest of the Scarlets back till at least mid November, and then we're just going to lose them straight away for that stupid international match on the 3rd December

It really is a stupid match Cari, especially a week before a Heineken weekend, the regions need as much time as possible for their internationals to gel back with the squad and this is going to scupper it. I am most seriously displeased.
