The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing picture of newly crowned IRB World Player of the year Thierry Dusautoir.
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Always been a fan of Barclay, but I have to say I think Rennie may be a cut above him at the moment. Different players, and good for Andy Robinson that he can mix and match them with whoever he has at 6 and 8. I have to say that Brown leaving Glasgow seems to have affected Barclay and Beattie a bit, they don't seem the force they were a couple of years ago.

Im Sooooo looking forward to going to Welford Road next week. I really think we can go and get a result.
Any news about Ferris. I thought it was his ankle again but Hughie said the icepack was on his knee. The man was mountainous for us as was Henry and Best.

What a result
Going to Welford Rd. with everything to gain and not much to lose. Lovely try for us to win it- was it D'Arcy or Gilroy who made the break?

Can't be much doubt about who our best 15 is just now. really really fond of Simon, but he is a wing.

MrsP, D'Arcy is a great attacker there are some question marks about his defence and positioning. Or there were last year. Rog puts 7 between them. 20-13.

Glad to hear it MrsP.
I would like to congratulate the O's on getting through a match without getting a yellow for the first time this season. Awh T's try was great - a proper belly flop one. He's got a lot of facial hair at the moment though.

Last week when we played Leicester, in our first scrum Samson feed the ball in straight down the tunnel. Our hooker was so shocked he forgot to hook the ball and it went straight through and out the other side. Suffice to say we went back to squint feeds for every subsequent scrum!!!

Haven't watched the game, have it recorded to watch later, but see on the Munster v Saints match thread that Portnoy is of the opinion that Owens has cheated saints out of the game.
I shall watch it with great interest later.

The Saints should have won it. They deserved too. Their arrogance showed, they thought the game was won. Foden was awful in defence btw. Getting skinned by a winger who is 33 (twice I think!) is pretty bad.

None of us like losing Rava, but there is a thing called taking the defeat with a bit of grace.
I liked Portnoy when I met him, but he is really getting on my nerves this season with his constant bleating about how unfair everything is to Leicester and wild accusations and abusive comments towards regulars of this pub and other members of the forum.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Evening all, great weekend for the Welsh regions!
I am going to enjoy this while it lasts before the WRU hamstring us in December. It'll all go to pot for all the regions then thanks to that utterly ridiculous international match on the 3rd December.
An amazing match at Y Parc today. Just brilliant. Really low scoring first half, 9-6 to Scarlets, although Castres almost scored within for the first 10 seconds of the game, and the Scarlets butchered two clear try scoring chances!
It really came alive in the 2nd half, with the Scarlets scoring 3 tries to Castres' 2. The 2nd Scarlet try was amazing. Castres in our 22, we turn it over, couple of passes out and off goes Shingler, who then passes to Smiler who does a great little sprint, to pass to Georgie, who runs on, great step inside, neat little offload to Foxy, back pass back to Smiler, slipped out to Ben Morgan who then sprints ahead to go over the line! Breakthaking length of the pitch try. We LOVED it. Terracing was completely bouncing in the 2nd half. Foxy got a neat little try towards the end. Plus we then denied Castres the LBP! It was tight at times in the 2nd half, and we did well to pull out and win, but can't help feeling a bit gutted we didn't get the TBP, coz it was there for us. A brilliant day though, just fabulous.
to those who's teams lost, and another to those who won. Rugby is magic.

Wow, will be pleased, Wasps have the try bonus point already and it's not even half time.
Hat trick in the first 24 minutes for Christian Wade. Could be a real bolter for England in the 6 Nations, the kid is on fire.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
We looked really rusty first half Pete but really clicked 2nd half it was lovely to watch (although we had a dodgy 10 min spell when we took Tav and Stevo off and put Rhys and Rhodrio on, completely messed with our shape for a bit!)
Game against Saints is going to be huge and very difficult, but I'm more worried about the Munster matches already. Our squad will only have 5 days to train together for the first match because all our international players will have been away 2 weeks before it for the Wales v Australia match, maddening! Think we need to win all our home games and get a LBP minimum away, am hoping not getting a TBP won't cost us.
Not long seen the highlights of your match Pete, it looked like a really exciting one with some v good rugby, gutted for you that you didn't get the win. Edinburgh are a really dangerous side though, can be really tricky to play against.Scarlets have come a cropper against them many times.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Was an entertaining game. Edinburgh looked lively and we didn't get across the gainline often enough, or stop them from doing so enough. Tough defeat to take as Homer missed a kick with 3 minutes to go which would have put us 22-20 up, which was easier than 4 of the ones he made.
Having said that, if we had have won it would have been harsh on Edinburgh who were good value for their win.
All to lay for at the CCS for us next week now.

Pleased with the Leinster, two points away from home is always good, Ulster game was great, didn't expect that result to be honest, and WOW Munster game was unreal, it had everything and what a finish!!!
Any highlights on tonight??

Tidy. Love that word. Nice one Pete
Ah just checked and I was 1 point of the right result for both the O's and Munster. Still, 4th in the v2 group so I'll take that.
Off now though, might actually go to bed. Countryside air has knocked me out I think, so sleeeepy.
