The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing picture of newly crowned IRB World Player of the year Thierry Dusautoir.
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?

Enjoy it Prop mate. Laugh away the BS of Life. Its very healthy.
Sitting down to watch Ireland qualify for PolKraine now. I was at EURO 88. The 1st and last time we qualified for it. That was a joy-ride.
With Germany next door, it was such a handy trip. From Stuttgart to Hanover and ending in Gelsenkirchen. My Da and bro were with me.
Happy Days.
Mon Ireland. Finish this off and then play football. Don't listen to Trap.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
guys and gals,
you might have noticed the 606v2 awards that have gone up.
I know the rugby one will be contentious but if you could all try and vote, I would appreciate it.
The point of doing these awards is to generate some publicity for the forum and attract new members - hopefully we will play into the egos of the nominees and get them retweeting etc.
On that note, could I ask you all to take a look at the other categories and if you have 10 minutes, vote in them all - even if you dont have a particularly strong opinion on the subject. The more votes we get in public, the more legitimate the awards will look.
I may not have much to offer in high quality training and an affordable cost but I am getting the hang of self promotion!

I am no voting in the 606v2 Rugby awards because the stand out players I would have are not on the list
https://www.606v2.com/t18315-606v2-awards-2011-rugby.
Call me biased if you want but where is: -
Sean O'Brien - Leinster Talisman & European Player of the Year
Johnny Sexton - Heineken Cup hero.
Rory Best - captained Ulster to their best season in a decade
Just saying like.

Stop your moaning about Trap Gibbo, one goal conceded in nine games, may not be attractive but it works, he's gotten us to a major championship, what more do you want??

The list is not really a fair reflection when it excludes one of the stand-out players of 2011. Sean O'Brien is European Player of the year.
I can see why Sam Warburton is on the list but George North? If you are basing this on the last couple of months then maybe, but over the whole year then no.
I agree with kiakahaaotearoa. This has been based on the RWC and not 2011.
Time to start again perhaps?

Guys and gals - the list is always going to be imcomplete and open to interpretation.
We had to come up with a shortlist of names and discussed things with the mods - some names were veto'd and added accordingly.
We appreciate that you may not agree with the shortlist but that is what we have come up with.
If you dont like any of them, we respect that but if you could choose one, then that would be just whizzer
Why on earth would you choose one if you don't like any of them?

Ok Rava. I´ll go with Sean O´Brien from your list. For some reason Rory Best reminds me of George Best and I wake up in an alcohol-induced black hole. Sexton is still young and is yet to play his best in green.

What I meant was if you could choose your favourite from the nominees - I understand you might not think they are the best of the year.
Its only a poll folks - I didnt expect such a backlash. And it wasnt just me who picked the nominees - all of the mods/ admins were aware and made suggestions.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Not a backlash mate. Thought-provoking contention to encourage further debate. We should get medals not mods for spreading the word.

Not a backlash Hobo, but I feel strongly enough to put my feelings down in writing. Even if you only get debate sure the concept will have been worth it.

When people say The Boat Race, they tend to think of Cambridge and Oxford rowing on the Thames.
But THE Boat Race for me was the University Clubhouse narrowly pipping Sydneham Rugby Club. EPIC! Don´t remember what happened but apparently we won.

I was anchor man in one against an Army side in the 70's. I was almost the full pint behind when it got to me and when the guy opposite finished and leaned forward to put his glass on the floor I just poured what was in the glass down the back of his neck.

Eric Rush was a sevens star principally for NZ but got a few caps for the ABs. Funny bloke. Told Glen Osborne he was in trouble because he didn´t have his passport to fly from the North Island to the South Island. And he believed him. Glen Osborne, before you ask, was a gifted fullback in 95 who wasn´t the sharpest pencil in the pencil case.

How is everyone this evening?

Ireland make PolKraine. Have to say, the fans, more than the team - will light the whole thing up. They are magnificent on Tour. Poland & Ukraine will rejoice. It will lift the country too.
Hughie. I was joshin. It's a great achievement and this team can play football - when it wants to.
Bet Ireland get Nederland in their group. History there. That would be some craic.

Bowler or Batsman? (he says knowledgeably)
Best mate over here, is a cricket freak. Jamaican/English/Dutch. Been watching him playing and going to cricket gigs with him, drunk & stoned, for 25 years now.
I still haven't a bleedin clue of the rules. It really pishes him off.
Does he know Rugby Laws? No. So.
But, apres-cricket is the best bash of all. I know that much.

Cricket, you Hero man.
Great to have a cricketer in here. Lots of the regs really love the aul cricket. Dreamer is serious about it. Just like with the rugby. Huggie also being one of them I seem to remember from the Summer?
I just like the kind of people who play it and how they party afterwards. Its just grand really.
Its so like rugby that way.

Bugger the apres drinks. DURING a cricket game is the best time to drink. Hip flasks for the bowling side and crates for the batting side. Love my cricket but if you play cricket sober then you´re playing for the wrong club! Why do you think it´s called silly mid off?
