The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the wedding pictures of Dan Carter and Honor Dillon above the bar! And if anyone tells the Australian Womens' Weekly that KiwiRedDevil's Mum smuggled a camera into the service* there'll be hell to pay - they paid a fair amount for the exclusive
So pull up a chair....what'll it be?
Old Pub: https://www.606v2.com/t19779-the-dew-drop-inn-virtual-rugby-pub#757023
* Note to any lawyer-y types, that's a joke and is completely and utterly false, Mum forgot to put the camera in her handbag

I've had to cycle to work when there have been warnings of black ice and that's no fun at all. You can't see it so there's no point looking out for it, you just have to hope for the best and take corners very slowly.

Leave it where Munsty?
MrsP - cripes! can't beleive she did that! At least she didn't hurt herself
Lucky - one of my old housemates slipped on her bike on black ice a couple of years ago, and she was so lucky she was wearing a helmet. When you looked at the damage that had been done to it and imagined that could have just been her head on the kerb - ouch! She did admit she'd been going too fast though.

There's a term for that, drivers are also less weary of cyclists who wear helmets. Those safety helmets can be dangerous.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Dreamer,
My mum-in-law is amazing!
So was my father-in-law. Very quietly determined/bloody minded in the nicest possible way. He had terrible lung problem in his last few years and needed oxygen all the time. Didn't stop him though. Once Gran was on the phone telling me about having to stop Scarifying the lawn so she could go to the hairdressers! Knowing them, I joked about Grampa trying to get his oxygen pipe to reach out to the garden to do it while she was away!
She , with no hint of irony, said,
" Well we did try balancing the wee oxygen cylinder on the top of the lawn mower but it was too tricky."
She seemed surprised at my reaction until I reminded her that their lawn mower was petrol driven.!!!!!!
Before that he used to mow the lawn with 2 chairs. He had one on each side of the garden and he would mow one strip and then have a wee rest to get his breath back before he turned it round to do the next strip!

That's crazy MrsP! An oxygan tank near petrol! I think it's great how determined some people can be though, regardless of what's going on with them. As long as they don't do harm to themselves in the process that is!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Lucky - aye it is, apart from missing those two I am actually relatively happy with the side. Gambling a bit with moving Rhys to FB and starting Stevo at 10 but that's when we often play our best rugby. Sanjay out on George's wing is a brilliant replacement.
Front row we may very well struggle, it's a huge ask for Rhodri Jones to start against the Munster front row. We've got a great backrow out though, so that should help us. Earls is starting for Munster though I believe, so I've no doubt we'll target him, or at least I hope we will.
Rodders: you'll be fine!

'Just' until Monday, luckless. It's a bit thoughtless of them to come over on a HEC weekend though! Was looking forward to a wee trip up to Belfast to catch the Ulster game in a pub then catching the Leinster game later on TG4 with a few . Thats that plan out the feckin window

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I am reliably informed by lots of folk in that situation that, even if they absolutely adore their son or daughter-in-law it is still very nice to occasionally have their married off spring to themselves!
As you might have noticed, my mum-in-law and I get on very well but I do make a point of dispatching MrP off to see her on his own sometimes!

I think they know me too well for that to work, especially if all the quality time I suggest they have ties in with the Irish teams HEC fixtures.... .....
I'll find some way to catch the games, it just makes my weekend a tad more complex!

Urgh, hit it hard last night, only got in at half eight this morning. Interesting night though, fairly sure a prostitute tried to pick me up in a bar last night, one of those high class hookers like. Don't ask how I know, just a feeling I got and when she left my buddy turned round to me and immediately asked if she was so I wasn't the only to think it haha
Ended up picking up this kiwi chick, not one of my best moves like but a bit of craic all the same

Thomond theres two flaws in that plan, the Ulster match is before the Leinster game too......and hes a feckin arsenal fan!
Besides I don't think he'd appreciate spending all afternoon in the pub with me singing SUFTUM and trying to explain to him (not for the 1st time I might add ) why Rugby Union is so much better than league!

why can it not be 4:30pm already?
Trying to decide what my drink of choice shall be for tonight
Can't wait for it now though, feels like ages since I've had a proper big big night out in the Diff, should be a cracker of a night.

Excellent news. The Changing of The Guard starts in the HC. Mark the moment. Hope they rip it up between them on the day. 12 Irish players starting and only one of the buy-ins is really required. Isa. 7 of the 8 bench players are IQ too.
With Cronin coming on strongly and Healy a cert, the dream of an all Irish Leinster side in the HC, comes closer to reality. Man that makes me so happy.
Lovely day in Ealing. Cold though. Hope all are well.

Dreamer, that's the theme song to an cartoon which was broadcast in Irish when i was younger. My Serbian mate wanted to learn an Irish christmas carol so i'm teaching him this, it's about a snowman called Bouli.
It's really funny to hear him pronounce everything perfectly, with the help of my phonetic versions as a footnote.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
That is true I suppose.
You used to be able to get wee "tea bags" that contained the spices to make "instant" mulled wine. Get a box of Fruity Red and put one of those in a pot with a couple of glasses worth and some OJ!
