The Wales vs England bickering thread, 2012 - PONIES ALLOWED!
First topic message reminder :
OK, every year we see threads that actually contain really good rugby discussion derailed by the ongoing Wales vs England bickering and WUMMING! I will name no names. I guess we have all been guilty .
Since most of the general bickering comes from the respective fans of Wales and England ; I thought I would create a thread for it in an effort to keep decent rugby discussion relatively WUM free in other threads.
So I will begin, An article in the Western Mail today pointed out how England are copying Gatlands youthful approach with a squad that has an average age of 25 and 428 caps between them.
http://www.walesonline.co.uk/rugbynation/rugby-news/2012/01/12/analysis-new-look-england-follow-youthful-wales-lead-91466-30105333/
Wales probable squad (once you have taken out Shane and Wellies from the World cup squad with their probable replacements) lines up at the same average age and about 820 caps between them. England are copying Wales' approcach but are way behind. Clearly all things point to a wales victory in HQ this year.

Please may I emphasise that this is a bickering and banter thread, whilst mild wumming and banter are allowed please try not to stray over the line of decency.

Anyone else feel that HERSH is slipping away with his new found/very low standard of WUMs? It's just like the repetitive rubbish that we used to see on 606.

Laugh it up, england still won despite the 300lb handicap weight.
Shane will get his chance to fell the North at the Barbarians game, i guess well find out which one is overhyped there.

Nope Wales had the moral victory the week before by scoring more tries than England.

Its no moral victory when you have North and Swilliams in your side, how the hell were England supposed to score tries with a backline including Hape Tindall Cueto and Banahan?
They were missing the worlds best winger for both games

Isnt it pretty much evens in victories at the moment? one of us may be ahead by one could be England could be Wales but its somthing like 65 all. So that would be victories about 50% of the time hardly occasional.
Now I have to ask you two questions.
Did you take any notice of rugby before 2003?
When was the last time you went to a live match that wasnt an international?

its a joke tycoes, chill your beans dude! and i dont have to explain myself to ya. but yeah i have been a fan of rugby since i was a nipper. only interntaional really mind- try and keep up with the odd premiership or HC . But i love all sports in general. I am sport mad , talk about them all- wish the other sporst on here were abit busier in fairness.
i hate the snobbish sports fans that just rip other types of fans up(from all sides)- its sickening. Its ok to like all sports and talk about them. We dont have to be rugby union fanatics that slate wendyball fans to talk on here.
This is a bickering thread- which you stuck on here- take the comment for what it was, dont get all odd about it, i am sure you have heard worse!

The trouble with George North is that his still growing, I can't see him staying on the wing for too much longer, maybe a ready made replacement for Jamie Roberts?
But the trouble with this type of player is that injuries will catch up with him at some point, I can see North have one or two long layoffs within the next 3/4 years.
I'll be surprised if he gets more than 50 caps in his career.

Let the Welsh take all the 'Moral victorys' that they want and leave us with the Victory's and the silverware. By the way, have i ever mentioned that England are the only NH side to have won the Webb-Ellis!! And Wales haven't!!

Re: The Wales vs England bickering thread, 2012 - PONIES ALLOWED!
actually Hersh I rather hope he stays fit and becomes as good as he can be, regardless of position. He has the SH white line fever look about him that many NH players could do with (particularly the scots).
Too many times players of good physical attributes have this 'threat' of taking players with them and off-loading/breaking the gain line targeting space/being the second support runner coached out of them.
Lawrence Dallaglio had this after his sevens and showed it at times (like against NZ) but slowed down going into contact and too often looked for the offload without seeing what he could do to break out of the tackle.

The low points average comes from games played under different rulsets and lower scores for tries etc.
Total points in the recent games I wouldve thought were pretty average.

Yeah rugbydata is good for looking at stats between two sides
http://www.rugbydata.com/england/wales/gamesplayed
On 8 Jan 1887 there was a cracking 0-0 draw between the sides. I think emack was there
Apologies for not bickering on this post. I know it's off topic

Re: The Wales vs England bickering thread, 2012 - PONIES ALLOWED!
cheers for the link.
it would be nice if they had- total tries, total converstions, total penalties, then we could work out a more realistic scoring differnce between teams.and also be able to judge teams v teams based on time periods as well.
(i know england have averaged over 20 against wales over the last 10 or so years- from a rough count up)
i wish they had that for football as well.
if only everything was like cricinfo!

Re: The Wales vs England bickering thread, 2012 - PONIES ALLOWED!
actaully they have some good trend tables- average points scored per game in 2003 was over 50!!
2010 only 45.
better defenses, changing in the way refs view the law, teams getting closer in terms of quailty(not so many whipping boys)

you have to weigh in abit more info than just historic stats- however we are tough to beat at home, and should have some good players back in. gonna be a great game- people on here will be shouting about 10-60 style scorelines- lol they will just look silly afterwards
