The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Denis Hickie, Shane Horgan, Ben Morgan and Selorm Kuadey above the bar!

No matter what happens here, Ulster have to fear NO one in the knockouts. They have arrived. Big time.

That was stupid and out of character by Muller.
He was correct, of course, but jeez- he's enough experience and wile to know you don't mouth off to the man in charge.

Really really poor pass from Marshall. We saw there why he is understudy to Pienaar.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
You know what, people will congratulate Ulster on qualifying and playing so well in the lions den...
But we should have won that game. We shot ourselves in the foot, we passed up chances, missed two kicks and then Muller and Best made stupid mistakes in the last few minutes.
We've got to be incredibly disappointed and frustrated- I know I am.

Notch, have to disagree about us shooting ourselves in the foot. We lost because of a very poor ref decision. plain and simple. We gave Clermont absolutly no change whatsoever and they only manage a score by taking out a defender onthe line leaving a gap for the score. I'm not a bad loser, I just hate injustice.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Arghh, what a missed opportunity! Credit to Clermont- the tournament would be so much poorer for their absence.
We replicate that in the quarter final and take our chances next time, we have a chance.
Almost certain to be Leinster vs Ulster I'd say. Unless London Irish beat Edinburgh- I don't think Leinster can be caught.

Thats exactly the attitude to get to the top. No mental rest or accepting 2nd-best. The players have in them too. You could see it.
Dissappointed to lose to ASM in their house?
Says it all really. Moving on up Ulster.

+ 1 Notch....amazing effort ...but we blew it, left too many points behind out there, too many unforced errors.
On paper its a massive result but we should have won, we really should. To finish level on points with Clermont and qualify is a massive achievement though and a huge step forward even from last season.
Very impressed with Paddy Wallace today.

Thats the game clive, whinging won't change it. It's not bad ref decisions to change games its how teams react to them. Pearson had a good game by and large.

Controversial but Clermont don't really deserve to top our group. We should have won yes but let's be honest how often do we travel to a European powerhouse and come home saying we could have won? Let's be proud of that.

Well, one upside. Another great away weekend lined up! Milton Keynes/London was a great weekend. Another one like that, with the right result this time, I'd go for that!

aha never mind I've firgured it out!
Able to get two links up for Saints v Munster and Scarlets v Castres, with Cross Keys v Llanelli on the tv.
Going to be a busy couple of hours for me!
And with Glas on this, can't see Blues getting a TBP. Win would be lovely for them though.

I do know that but I would like them to get to 22 points and Edinburgh to lose. We would then be coming to Cardiff I think. That is assuming Saints beat Munster.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I know Notch, but you get citings for all sorts of things, surely Hines should/can be cited for this? Its totally cynical, and ruins the game. Can you imagine if this was a game that could have put us out and a cheat takes it upon himself to do that? Absolute disgrace. And I would hope hope no Ulster player would ever do that. Hate seeing that kind of thing regardless of which player or team.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Try was the killer - ref should have got it but to give him his dues, Pearson was very good apart from that. Pity it was such a decisive decision. I really felt that at that point it was coming. Cave was a huge loss, he would probably have offered a little more calmness at certain times.
This was a good performance and a good result. Not many teams come away from Clermont with anything - they have only lost 1 of their last 57 games at home I think, out of those wins they have coughed up something like 8 bonus points so that is a good performance.
The lineout with a minute to go was a disappointment, they need to apply a little more calm in those situations - no one will be looking forward to hosting them in the QF's. If they avoid Leinster I give them a great chance of getting to the semi's as I have no doubt that they can win ANYWHERE else.

Controversial but true willy. Devastated. Totally blew it man, too many errors. Poor restarts, missed tackles, missed place kicks, crooked throws in the lineouts, knock on by muller.
That simply wasn't good enough, Clermont were there for the taking. The margins are so small at this level and when opportunity knocks you have to walk through the door.

Well done Clermont.
So disappointed but sooooo proud of my lads.
Soooo proud.
We came oh so close to ending that home winning streak!
No where near as clinical as last week and still got the LBP.
But, we were soooooooo close.
