The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Rhys Thomas, Ben Castle, Andy Fenby and Bill McLaren above the bar!

Lucky - thanks. I wondered who MOTM was, then Mike appeared later wearing the medal...thought he might've robbed it off someone He wasn't half getting up the Irish noses... I do like him for pishing off the oppo...but he's still a tool.

I don't mind him pishing off the opposition Cari, as long as he doesn't pish off the ref at the same time!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Watching the incident that led to the final penalty in slow motion, it looked a fairish tackle by Ferris, taking one leg to stop the ball carrier. It was also easy to see how it could look like a dangerous tackle at full speed and without the benefit of slow-motion replay.

PJ,
So you're talking momentum which can be taken into the AP?
I thought for a moment you were saying that winning the LV would get them an automatic HEC spot.

Yeah Cymro,
I can see why Barnes thought it was a tip but I can't understand why folks who saw the replay are saying it was a penalty.

I know Cari, not happy hunting at all for the O's but at least you're back in the HC next year . The LV is a bit of a plastic comp to be honest, but I'm just desperate to see Bath win something again, it's been a wilderness for too long , one pot since the '98 Heino is too painful for words.

Even on replays, Ian Evans comes down on his hands with both feet off the ground. Stephen Ferris turned him upside down, even if it was a leg at a time.

That's what I'm hoping MrsP, it's an outside shot at the moment but winning any game gives a team a boost and Bath have been up and down all season, they've also suffered quite a few last minute losses - the AP and HC - and that sort of thing knocks you back a bit.
The next three games will be critical to Bath's season and their chances of nicking that magical 6th place, going into them off a 3 from 3 winning streak may just be the difference.
Ommmmmmmmm

Im pining for the HC already. Cant believe Im thinking that. I started this 6-N with so much hope. Even though I knew... Must be the romantic, illogical, Irish in me.
Will Kidney change things now? He's phhoked either way. If he doesnt, Im sending de boys around.
Maybe it will free his conservative mind and raise his level of consciousness.

Just messin Cari, honestly none taken whatsoever. Bath had a small core of players that had a coke problem a couple of years back, Matt Stevens was one that got caught bang to rights and banned, three others refused drug tests when pressed and were promptly sacked, the club captain being one of them.

Evening all, congrats PJ on your hearty win down at SPPJHolybloke wrote:Morning Hughie,
It's easy to see why, but I can't help thinking the vibes around Scotland are unnecessarily negative. Parks is easily replaced, as is Cusssiter, Weir and Laidlaw should start the next game, Hogg should be in there and before too long Visser will be qualified.
Denton had a good game and for his age looks way out in front.
Scotland aren't far off having a very strong 1st XV.
Congrats also to the English regs - ye can only play what is put in front of you, and if it's a bag o'shoite, then so be it
But optimistic about the future - don't want Robinson to stay, his selection is too weak. But as others note, plenty of talent coming thru, it just needs to be trusted

Asbo , you breed them youngsters feisty down there don't ya? Moon whacking Wilson was a proper eye-opener - or probably eye-closer more accurately.
You should be optimistic for Scotland bud, the players are there and putting their hands up to be picked, Robinson needs to grow a pair and pick 'em or make way for someone who will, Wales up next and it's a "nothing to lose" game after today's performance, chuck 'em in and let 'em rip I say.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Ha, ha, Mooner is a local lad, started out at Cullompton RFC just up the road (I occasionally turn out for their vets when they are desparate!) - happy that we gave some youngster some game time at a decent level, and several returnees from injury that just needed it in their legs
I am happy about Scotland bizarrely - there are some good youngsters there, they just need to be given the chance. 'Fraid I don't want to see the Lamont brothers in dark blue any more, Cari - just not up to it (unless Schlong goes back to a wing)

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I had a dead leg once that developed into a hematoma, it fattened out into a big lump in my left thigh and took 6 weeks of intensive ultrasound from a physioterrorist to dismantle. It left a hole behind that I have to this day, 24 years later.
They can be quite nasty if you don't get them sorted, but I would think Warbs will be ready for next week the England game for sure (nuts!).

As far as I understand it, a dead leg can be anything from between a nasty knock that takes 10 minutes to walk off or severe bruising that can lay you up for a few days!
So... lose in Paris next weekend and it's all over. We'll know everything we need to know about this team then. Can we do it? We need four solid wins under our belts in the next four games to be able to say we've met our potential. Seems like a big ask.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
It's true Cymro. It's just the fixture list is not our friend. We've two home games and two away games but it's our hardest away game up next... the one we've the worst record in.
Once you lose two games, that's pretty much it. Midtable mediocrity beckons. So next week is massive for us; lose and we're gone. We won't be in the shake up. If we win next week, well- we're kind of needing Wales to slip up but we've Italy and Scotland at home as our next two games and we'd have a chance of being in the mix on the last day if we won them.
Wales have just beaten one of the other contenders away and have three home games coming up so they must be favourites now. Fair play to them.
