First topic message reminder :

Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.

The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Rhys Thomas, Ben Castle, Andy Fenby and Bill McLaren above the bar!

He should get rid of SOB or Ferris from the backrow and put in O'Mahony. He might bring in ROG, which would be terrible for France. Chelsea beating United 3-0.

Agree with the RTE panel on one thing, if we're going to play like this we need some bulk in the centre. McFadden, D'Arcy, Wallace, O'Malley, Earls... good players but they will all get bounced by those bug French runners in midfield.

Maybe Trimble or Bowe can move inside.

Well played Wales.

Exciting game but I'm confused.

(1) How can Dave Pearson say he saw a player lift another, twist him and drop him on his head and then say "Yellow Card"?

(2) How can you say a player has been "lift(ed) from the ground...." when he still has one of his feet on the turf?

He's clueless. We are so lucky we didnt lose it by HT. No invention, he has them kicking away posession. Its not done at Leinster, or even Munster now. Destroyed at the breakdown - even with Wales' 3rd-choice backrow.

What did he do? Carried on blindly. Bless im. Im glad - in a sick way. He's phhoked now. France will EAT us.

Roll on 18 months. Or sooner. He's had his go. Time to start looking around for a new coach.

Exactly what I thought at the time, Mrs P.

It wouldn't surprise me if Gatland drops Bradley Davies with immediate effect. We don't want someone who would do that to a fellow player wearing the Welsh shirt. And it was off the ball, which makes it worse for me. Cowardly. Idiotic. Wholly intentional. What more can you say?

Quite possibly so, Mrs P. That tackle, and the card it should have been given but wasn't, will overshadow what I thought was a great performance in parts by Wales. I want to celebrate but I feel like I can't because of it.

Bradley Davies was very, very stupid and I was amazed that he wasn't given a red card. I was also surprised that Gatland let him come back on. It looks as though Wales will be another lock down for next week's game......

On the plus side, I was pleased with the way we played generally and think that we deserved the win as well. Also, it was nice to see the Scarlets boys playing so well and scoring the tries!!

Wales Bring on Scotland!

It is a shame indeed Lucky but you have to celebrate the win surely.

Not the Welsh players fault the decision was wrong.

I don't mind so much when the officals miss stuff and Barnes mistaking the Ferris one for a tip in the heat of the moment is just one of those things but when they see and discribe what happened and then come out with the wrong decision it is daft!

Bit like,

"Is there any reason why I cannot award the try?"

"Absolutely none. He grounded the ball with no part of him in touch and no foul play in goal so.....5 meter scrum!"

I was about to disagree with you gibbo, especially on that last point, but then it struck me (and mark the day) you are absoutlely spot on. As a team, Wales were superior in every aspect. Individually Ireland may shade their counterparts, but collectively the sum of our parts is worse than it should add up to. Deccie has to take responsibility for this.

I don't know why they went to the TMO with the Welsh tries either. Dave Pearson was right there for Georgie's try! BTW I think the Ryan Jones try was a try as well and I also thought that Ryan had a very good game.

Lucky celebrate all you want. Wales didn't win because Davies got a yellow instead of a red, you won because you were by far the better side. The scoreline flatters an extraordinarily poor irish team.

I've quite a lot of things to say about this game, a lot of which is better said sober, however ice no worries in saying this peed or not, Bradley Davis is an absolute Pricko. I'm the ball and in a tackle that's in someway ok. But in his filthy cowardly actions he deserves everything he gets

Really pleased for Jon Davies, he's been criticised by some Welsh fans who thought he wasn't up to international rugby but he showed what a quality player he is today.

George North's half-decent too...

Even forgetting today's game, what about the World Cup with regards to 3 tries? Strange comment really.

That win was just what I needed after today. I have been in a stinker of a mood all day. Think I am ready for home now. Roll on 2.5 weeks time.

Hard lines Ireland. Really mean that. Sometimes your intensity was unreal, but then for a side who was touted for seeking revenge, it maybe didn't come out enough.

Mrs Penfro, I guess Gatland didn't want to alter the backrow again (by shifting Ryan forward), so Bradley (absolute disgrace) was sent back on. I guess if Lydiate is fit, then it'll be Lydiate 6, Ryan 4 next weekend.

The centres were overpowered by the Welsh backs and that won the game for them.

I'm sorry but that Ferris tackle just can not be a penalty. Otherwise you have to tell players they can't tackle just one leg as that is what will happen in that situation.

That was always likely to be an area to target for us, even with Earls starting.

Oh yeah and save for a few times when he ran too high, Ryan Jones did play well. I will be interested to see the ratings. George North and JD2 were something else.

Also, this is probably an over-reaction to this afternoon but I'm going to struggle to keep following this level of rugby when it is becoming so sanitised in all the wrong areas.

Hey all Smile

Epic match or whaaa?! Really enjoyed it. Chuffed to bits with the win. The only fly in the ointment for me being Bradley's moment of stupidity. Still, we managed to get a try following the binning. I wasn't expecting a win though. When ROG came on I thought "Oh, here we go...last minute drop goal!"

Chuffed Tommy scored, and I thought Chilli had a good game. It was really sweet when he was stood next to his baby bro in the line up at the beginning too. I bet Mama Chilli was very proud of her boys. Well done both teams for playing some tidy rugby. Can't wait until next week!!

Rev!

Happy days Butt. The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub - Page 18 2055835545

Love you.

What I really hope is, that every Irish poster on V2, just Man or Womans-up and stops isolating incidences, that have no bearing on the fact, that we were well beaten by a severely depleted Welsh side today. The close score was an accident. How we were up at HT, I'll never quite work out.

Truth hurts... but show some class.

P.S.
I wish Faletau had an Irish Grannie.

I think there was probably a little more consistency when the referees were left to their own wares a little more.

Yeah, what Gibbo says is true unfortunately. We were second best. It's why I'm so pished off.

We have quality players that are less than the sum of their parts and the team doesn't play to their strengths. Wales have quality players that are more than the sum of their parts and have a gameplan that accentuates their strengths.

We've had months to revise the gameplan and we're playing the exact same way as in the RWC.

Lucky - I have to admit, the last couple of minutes shredded my nerves with ROG on. Great game though. I know my opinion doesn't count, but I thought Ferris' yellow was harsh....but there's probably a million threads about it now, so I'll say no more. Was Mike Phillips MOTM? No they're not Willy! Ireland will pull a win out of the bag like they do when you think they won't. So keep thinking they won't and they will...eh... Leprechaun

Why wouldn't your opinion count, Cari?!

RTE made Mike Phillips man of the match, apparently. It was a surprising decision, because although he had a good enough game, at least two Welshmen had better games.

That match is in that LV= cup, no?

Can someone explain why the Ferris tackle was even a penalty?

It is MrsP, it has Little Value unless you're desperate for silverware after sooooooo many barren years of dusting an empty cabinet. Wink

Bath qualify for a home semi as 1st seeds 20 points out of 20, I now have a feeling Bath can go on and slip into the Heino, the next three games are the key.

Newcastle (H) should be right enough.

Gloucester (H) Don't tell Prop cos I really like the bloke, but I hope Bath smash the Shedders to pieces.

Exeter (A) Hmmmm, took down a young & feisty Chiefs team tonight but this game will be a different matter.

13 points out of that lot and Bath are rolling.... well, you've got to have a dream.
