The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Sergio Parisse and Owen Farrell above the bar.

France by 4 after they make sweeping changes and allow Ireland to score a late try or two.

Not all of the pitch is playable. They also reckon it could freeze during the match. It could get called off. If it's called off before 60 minutes are up it has to be rescheduled. If it's called off after 60 minutes, the result stands at the time
It must be cold cause Woody's got a hat on!

Being played for 60 minutes then abandoned with the result standing would be the absolute worst outcome regardless of the beneficiary.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Yeah that would suck Notch. Apparently, the pitch is worst where the touch judges are around the edges....but they're worried about it freezing as time goes on.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
The match is off.
Very, very disappointing. But a respite for Ireland. A chance to regain some confidence against Italy at home before travelling back to Paris on March the 2nd.
Gonna be 80,000 very disappointed and cold punters. I'm not too disappointed that we have Italy at home up next as our second game instead of France away. I was looking forward to a bit of rugby tonight though. Feel really sorry for our traveling fans.
For me, the most frustrating part is we're likely to be missing a few other players against Edinburgh in the Pro12 in the first weekend of March.

7 minutes to go and they call it off. Very poor. France authorities have a lot of questions to answer.

Balls - just scooted back from Ealing to find this game is fecked. Mind you, I thought it could well not happen. Freakishly low temperatures in Europe atm.

Well it means we'll be playing four test matches in four weeks. Break next weekend and this then Italy (H), France (A), Scotland (H), England (A). It's gonna be tough physically on Ireland and France not having a second rest week.

BBC are wrong btw, it will be refixed for Friday the 2nd of March. Which is VERY frustrating because I'll miss it altogether. I'll be at Ravenhill that night
Bet some blabbermouth idiot at the Ulster match will 'spoiler' the final score before I can get back to iPlayer.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
I wonder if BBCNI and Ulster Rugby could get our match moved at short notice?
It sucks incredibly that Ulster fans won't get to see this live; we've got to feel the gate at that match will suffer (as will the TV ratings). I wonder how BBCNI will handle the two games being at the same time?

Fans will also have travelled from all over France too. Paris is not the centre of French rugby.
How can you build a stadium after 1990 and not put undersoil heating in
The cost is miniscule when looking at the total cost of the stadium.

It's all over twitter, various media sources. To be honest, the plan for it to be played on 2nd March in the event of a postponement was made public before the first pitch inspection. Expect official confirmation soon.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Rugby Pub
Evening all
I have just about defrosted after my afternoon at The Stoop. Really disappointed to lose but it really was a cracking game, in complete contrast to the dross served up by Sale and Worcester last night.
Having to play two locks at 6 and 7 and our fourth choice 8 meant that Quins really had the upper hand at the breakdown. It's telling that in 5 pages of notes that I made to do the match report from I have not mentioned our 7 or 8 once!
Losing is even more frustrating as Saints and Tigers who were just above us also lost, and there was real opportunity to make up ground. Ah well, there's always next week.
Match report to follow.

Cheers Notch been out watching a game so only got in 10 mins before kick off. So we had a blydi stupid 20:00 (21:00 in Paris) kick off, then just when thought it couldn't get any worse they reschedule for a feicin Friday In the evening again Thought they'd given up with the farce of Friday games anyway. Makes no difference to me as a 'neutral' but what about the fans ? Why not the Saturday

Presumably to allow an extra rest day for the teams.
Until an official confirmation is made I hope for a Saturday kick-off. But everything I'm hearing right now is Friday.

They're making it up as they go along anyhow. Common sense is just about to be over ridden by TV executives.
