The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Millennium Stadium Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has teleported itself inside Millenium Stadium this week to see if the men in red can manage a Slam. There's also TVs showing the other 6N matches, the U20s and Womens' matches, Super XV, the "Classic" match and LV= Cup action.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Mervyn Davies and Jock Hobbs above the bar!

Penblwydd Hapus Swanny!
Just about to watch the match for a 3rd time
And it was carnage in the Diff last night, although to be fair, it took until midnight for me to really start to hear the sirens. And talking to my flatmate, sounds like I made the best choice to head back to the flat before it all really kicked off. Some seriously crazy people out there with the drink.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Millennium Stadium Rugby Pub
Afternoon all
Happy mothers day to all the mums in here, and happy birthday to Swanny.
Having a mad morning at work here, the good thing about which is that the shift is flying by.
On rugby matters, I am chuffed with how England have performed in this tournament. I really hope Lancaster gets the job. If he does then I genuinely believe that he can maintian the improvements within the side.
Wales have a fantastic opportunity to really kick on here now. Gatland mustn't rest on his laurels and must keep them moving forwards. Could be a cracking series against Australia in the summer for them.
For Ireland I did write an article questioning Kidney before the tournament and stand by the points I raised. However, I do think there is little that he could have done to prevent yesterdays performance/result once the whistle had sounded. It was just one of those days. The England front row (which I have said in the past few weeks is being underated by some) just clicked and their dominance of their Irish counterparts seemed to cause panic to spread through the entire Ireland XV. That said, questions have to be asked by the RFU, around selection and tactics across the tournament. Sadly I don't think they will be asked and Kidney will remain. It could be a very tough tour for Ireland in the summer.
Scotland, simply Robinson must go. There is little else to be said.
Anyhow, must do some work, and juggling balls like anything here, just wanted to put my tuppence worth in.
Hope you're all having a good day.

hope the rest of your working day flies by for you Ozzy!
With regards to the Wales tour in the summer, it will honestly depend on how many of our players actually tavel down tehre fully fit. I can't see Warbs or Rhys P going (Rhys definitely shouldn't, he's been carrying an injury since the world cup). I think Lydiate and Roberts need ops too. Will be interesting to see who is picked to go. Could be a chance for fringe players to really step up.

Ozzy two things:
Kidney didn't put a tight head on the bench
The Provinces haven't developed any over and above Ross, and he was more by luck than judgement.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Millennium Stadium Rugby Pub
Had a great day yesterday. Really was the best feeling ever yesterday in the stadium. Had great seats as well (even better for frees). Had a few on board yesterday and had to go home earlyish, but it was worth it. Was so nervous all yesterday morning and my struggles getting to Cardiff didn't help, but when I was sat in my seat I felt really calm and knew from then Wales would win.
Can't believe the news on Fabrice Muamba though. That is awful. Hopefully he'll pull through.

Just going to echo that Rev. Hope Muamba pulls through, he is a great player and it's such a shame to see that to happen to anyone. It's such a shame and I feel horrible for heckling players in the past, they are under such a ridiculous amount of pressure and strain. Thoughts are with Muamba and his family.

Here's the ESPN team of the Six Nations;
15. Halfpenny, 14. Bowe, 13. Davies, 12. Fofana, 11. North, 10. Farrell, 9. Phillips
1. Jenkins, 2. Best, 3. Jones, 4. Gray, 5. Evans, 6. Lydiate, 7. Rennie, 8. Morgan
That actually looks pretty good for me, gets my vote. Only wrong decision is Dusatoir omitted for Lydiate imo. Which is harsh on Lydiate, because he was perhaps the second best player in the entire tournament after Thierry D. as far as I'm concerned!

Dusautoir is a 7 though Notch, the French just wear the different number shirts for their flankers then other teams, I thought?
I'd have Cuthbert in over Bowe but that's a marginal call really, otherwise I think I'd agree with that team.

To be fair, Bowe is always going to get in as top try scorer. Thats fair enough even if he was more opportunistic than consistently effective. I think of Dusatoir as a blindside. His main asset is his amazing workrate and effectiveness in defence and in the ruck.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Millennium Stadium Rugby Pub
Was back in the flat before 9, biltong, but had been drinking since before 11am so think I did well to last that long! Sure I got to watch a re-play of the whole match again on the tv too, LOVED it.
Amazing day, Cardiff was something else yesterday, and the French fans were an absolute blast over the whole weekend. Think they're my favourite travelling fans, with the Irish a v close 2nd.
Mental day, one of the best.
Notch - my reason is that defensively, I thought Bowe was poorer than Cuthbert (although Cuthbert did make a couple errors himself), was just more impressed by Cuthbert overall but again that's probs just me with my Welsh specs on!

To be fair 13 tries from 4 games is a pretty decent return. Even though we where shoite for large parts.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Millennium Stadium Rugby Pub
I'm not arguing with you Shovey, just think in these things people are going to pick the top try scorer for their team of the tournament- even though there's so much more to the game of rugby than that
My favourite travelling fans are also the French, more specifically the ASM crowd. The Scottish are also great craic. Walking out of the stadium last weekend, after Scotland played really badly, a piper started up 'Flower of Scotland' much the shared appreciation and applause of the Irish and Scots fans alike. It's things like that that really make up for what this tournament sometimes lacks in quality of rugby played.

sure no arguing, just saying why I'd pick Cuthbert over him
Ah yeah the Scottish fans are great, I know a couple of years back there was a piper in one of the pubs I was in, every time he played something he got a great sing song going, twas brilliant.

Fair play. If Cuthbert was Irish he wouldn't be in our training squad because he' too inexperienced. We prefer experienced players to make basic defensive errors you see.

Well to be fair the Cuthbert story is a mental and a bit of an exceptional one, can hardly believe he wasn't playing pro rugby until September. Absolutely crazy how easily he's slotted in.
Ireland need a new coach and to take some risks. Playing the youngsters doesn't always work, but you've got to at least try them out. Think the Provinces need to do their bit with this as well (I know they've started to with players like Zebo, but they need to do it more imo)
Cripes just seen your post about the Saints player! Seriously, he dislocated a guys shoulder on purpose? that's disgusting, even more so if the whislte had already gone.

I really like the look of Cuthbert in attack, he's excelled in the Welsh backline, but I think he's yet to be properly challenged in his defence. I fear that he's got a learning curve still to go when it comes to facing he SH teamsrugbydreamer wrote:Well to be fair the Cuthbert story is a mental and a bit of an exceptional one, can hardly believe he wasn't playing pro rugby until September. Asbo - oh aye definitely, Gatland even admitted before the tournament that he's still really green and got a lot to learn, and we saw that in the half he played against Ireland where he was at fault for one of the tries. He's only in his first season of pro-rugby though, so bound to still be learning the ropes
