The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Millennium Stadium Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has teleported itself inside Millenium Stadium this week to see if the men in red can manage a Slam. There's also TVs showing the other 6N matches, the U20s and Womens' matches, Super XV, the "Classic" match and LV= Cup action.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Mervyn Davies and Jock Hobbs above the bar!

Good to know Glas!
Just as we thought the Ps rugby season was finished P4 announced last night that she is playing in a primary School Tag blitz today!
Neither she nor P3 are amused as P4 doesn't like rugby but has been asked to play and P3 loves rugby but they didn't have this competition when she was at that stage!
But as P3 says, it's only tag and that's not as much fun as real rugby!
This could get interesting.

You know P3 is the nickname for Pedrie Wannenburg right? The first time I read that post I thought that was who you were talking about- incredibly confused!

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Millennium Stadium Rugby Pub
Morning all,
Still haven’t gotten over the crushing disappointment of the weekend. But a hearty congratulations to our English posters, your team done you proud and really gave us food for thought. Also, most importantly a huge well done to the Welsh lads, thoroughly deserved, they were by far the best team in the comp and surely great things await them.
Happy birthday to Gibbo, Glas and anyone else who added a candle to the cake recently too.
Was very sad this morning to read that the Aussie Rules legend Jim Stynes had lost his battle with cancer. He was a truly inspirational player on the field and a savior to many off of it.

My bro in law gave him a lovely write up here.

Sorry to here about that Aussie Rules guy, Mickado.
OnSaturday's match. You wouldn't have wanted to read the headlines of the match reports in The Eugby Paper. Not very flattering, I'm afraid.
Mind you, I am srill not convinced with some of Lancaster's selections though.

The IRFU have announced they are taking applications for a high performance dedicated scrum coach to work with national team, provinces and underage teams.

Would you prefer to win or to challenge yourself?

Hound, with the way some of our players were shooting their mouths off I'm not surprised there was a backlash in the paper. It's another reason i didn't come on here after the match.

Munsty I dont understand the question. It makes no sense without context and I agree with Notch a champion will always aim to do both.
Do you challenge yourself and maybe win?
Or challenge yourself and guarantee the loss?
Or do you not challenge yourself at all if you win?
The question in itself isnt enough.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Millennium Stadium Rugby Pub
Well if you win something, surely in a sporting scenario, you've been challenged, so even through the act of winning, you are always challenging yourself?

Just back from the Tag Blitz!
Let's just say I hope our team enjoyed the challenge!
Stag,
Mr and master P are heading down this weekend. They are travelling friday night. The wee fella's events are first thing on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
We will all be back the following Sunday as the coach has decided to take P4's relay team down to the Irish too.

That is great!
I'll make sure MrP has your number.
I'm not sure what time they will make it there on Friday but they should have a chunk of free time on Saturday, depending on whether the wee fella makes the sprint final.

Excellent, I'll make the tea, they bring the posh crisps and its a date.
I can give them le grande tour of Limerick in all its glory. In fact maybe they'd like a tour of Thomond Park depending on our time.

Feic that MrsP - I'm hoping to convert them. Wait til you see. Ben will be dreaming of watching a beautiful rolling maul against the Scarlets (our usual team we beat) as we eat bushel after bushel of turnips.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Millennium Stadium Rugby Pub
You will never convert him that way. He's a wing!
Show him centres who wont take every ball back into contact butchering every overlap in the process and you might have a chance!

MrsP thats what they all say.
Deep deep deep deep DEEP down a wingers ultimate satisfaction comes from watching the forwards trundle onwards and doing the work for them.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Millennium Stadium Rugby Pub
Afternoon all.
Courtesy of ex-Wallaby Peter Fitzsimons:
An Englishman, an Irishman a Scotsman and a Welshman are captured by the Taliban and are going to be shot.
In line with tradition, they are all granted a last wish. The firing squad commander asks each in turn to name his last wish. The Welshman says: ''I'd like to hear a recording of Cwm Rhondda sung by a Welsh male voice choir.''
Then the Scotsman says: ''I'd like to hear Flower of Scotland played on the bagpipes'' and the Irishman says: ''I'd like to hear Riverdance one last time.''
The Englishman says: ''I'd like to be shot first.''
Quick quiz
Put the following words into just one sentence of no more than eight words in total: defence, detail, deduct, defeat.

Defence, Detail, Deduct and Defeat start with D.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Millennium Stadium Rugby Pub
Glas a du wrote:When deduct jumps over defence, defeat go before detail.
That's 9 words Glas, but you're pretty close.
is Fitzsimons' answer, while you can get it in in 6:Deduct jumped over defence, defeat first, detail last
Deduct hurdled defence, defeat before detail.

So the sentences don't need to make any sense? In that case, here's mine:
Defence, detail, deduct, defeat.

But 'deduct hurdled defence, defeat before detail' doesn't make sense. It doesn't even make sense if Deduct is the name of a horse, because since when are fences known as 'defence?'
