The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Millennium Stadium Rugby Pub
First topic message reminder :
Welcome to the Virtual Rugby Pub - a place where you can come in for a sly beverage and discuss whatever's on your mind, or just eavesdrop on the regulars if you fancy a break from all the rugby chat. The pub has teleported itself inside Millenium Stadium this week to see if the men in red can manage a Slam. There's also TVs showing the other 6N matches, the U20s and Womens' matches, Super XV, the "Classic" match and LV= Cup action.
The only rule in this pub is one of mutual respect for everyone in it, oh and no defacing the pictures of Mervyn Davies and Jock Hobbs above the bar!

Morning from a very sunny Dam. Its going to hit 19 degrees. T-shirt job.
Cari has been up taking pics already. Its all new for her. In to the centre in a hour. Its great seeing your City through someone elses eyes. Should be fun. Took her to her 1st Coffeeshop last night. The girl can handle it. Most impressed.
Looking forward to Leinstuuur v O's this eve. Mwwwaaaahhhh!

Morning all, my Thursday netball team had a win last night in the plate playoff, not bad considering I had to move up front to GS (it's like playing your goalie as a striker)
Slightly sore head this morning though

Morning pub
Friday!! Another quiet one at work by the looks of it so plenty of opportunities to pop in here
Went out for tea last night with the people here. It was really nice but the sticky toffee pudding was a step too far, no room for breakfast this morning
It's glorious here too Lucky, proper spring day and I love it

Aye, this weather will suit Ealing's backs tomorrow against Tynedale. Looking forward to some live rugby for the first time in three weeks.

Hound, I don't get why a couple of Ealing's backs haven't been snapped up by Championship or even prem teams - doesn't make sense?

Hiya all.
Perfect day here... it's like an Indian summer now. Busy day at work but the others seemed to slacken off in the late afternoon so I kind of followed suit and took my foot off the pedal. At least that's what it must of looked like.
The Irish guys were all talking about Gaelic football, rugby and Aussie Rules, the Ulster girl carmody (sp?)... after last weekend I decided not to delve too deep into the rugby side of things but chatted more about the local matches on this weekend here.

We're expected to reach the dizzy heights of 18 degrees here today! Not bad for the end of March
People here started to slacken off at 09.12 I'm a temp, I'm just following the example set by my colleagues...

I started the wind down at about 7.35 this morning. The weather is fabulous, Tá an ghrian ag scoilteadh na gcloch.
Can nae wait for the match later. Haven’t seen a live game since Feb 5th and I don’t want to talk about that one!

Cheers Mick thanks for that. We'll just use English. Had a good day anyway - found a nice if fairly abstract place for lunch on Dame Street. Nice chicken restaurant.
Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Millennium Stadium Rugby Pub
Stag asked “what happened with the Luas” which is the tram.
I said there was a fire in the docklands and it was only running between Tallaght and Heuston station. (probably with terrible grammar)
He then said “very good mick, was it working from Stephens Green to the shopping center in Dundrum, the girl was looking for some bits to buy (or close to that). But it was fine in Henry street.”

I bet what they were actually saying was absolute filth and a translation into English would result in heavy use of the swear filter.

I wish I could, but my irish is limited to chit chat about the luas and the weather.
That place is supposed to be great Stag, I’ve not been but I hear great things. The guy who runs it also runs Jamie Heaslips restaurant called Bear. Was it expensive?

Mick - very reasonable price. Very new-age. I'm 99% sure every member of staff there is a confirmed bachelor but they know their way around chicken.
They dont do soft drinks like CocaCola, Fanta etc. Their beverages are all fresh juices served in old jam jars.
I got a bap with salad, coleslaw and chili braised chicken gougons. It was €5.50.
Guy at table next to meet got chicken wings - they looked good.

Re: The Dew Drop Inn Virtual Millennium Stadium Rugby Pub
Jharal Yow Yeh has just broken his leg in the Broncos match in Perth.
Poor guy - an awful sound was heard. He's a class player.
I know... had the same thing happen a few years back and can still remember the terrible fluttering sound, then the immediate pain. It was like a 1000 degree fire shooting through the broken bone. Then you go into shock and the natural pain killers kick in pretty quickly and it somehow doesn't feel so bad.
A doctor (who was also playing that day) said 'it was probably just a medial ligament' so I wrapped it in ice and drove to the hospital. Lucky it was my left leg so I could put it on the foot rest beside the brakes. Then after the x-rays I was told the news.... "What??!"

Very interesting show on gambling addiction on the iPlayer. An addiction that doesn't have the same fanfare as others but can be easily as harmful-

MBTGOG its worse in many ways than being an alcoholic I would say.
If your an alcoholic for a short period of time and want to reform there may be lasting damage - i.e. liver damage or broken relationships to repair with work or family.
But even in a short space of time a gambling addiction can leave you thousands and thousands of pounds in debt with no way to pay. Very serious road to go down.

Ouch lb.
The Hong Kong 7s starts today and what an odd looking set of Pools, as follows:-
Pool A
Samoa
England
Argentina
Kenya
Pool B
New Zealand
South Africa
Wales
USA
Pool C
Fiji
Australia
France
Scotland
Pool D
Tonga
Uruguay
Hong Kong
China Pool
E Canada
Spain
Zimbabwe
Philippines
Pool F
Portugal
Russia
Japan
Guyana (Guyana!!!)
Qualification to the next stage of the cup competition will be the top two teams in each Pool plus the two best runners up from the ‘core event’ Pools A, B & C. There will be quarter final qualification play offs owing to the lopsided number of qulifiers (14 I make i.
As should be pleased that Scotland are considered part of the 'core event'.
Selected opening round games for those interested...

Munsty,
This guy in my office was the first person in the World to buy the new Apple ipad last Friday. He was on the morning news. I nearly choked on my toast. It's funny when you see someone every day; then see their mug on the big screen carrying on like an audience member on Oprah. He did this weird sort of jump... spurred on by the camera people apparently.
He is addicted to new technologies, however I note he was struggling with the office server during the last few days. We were all quietly snickering amongst ourselves.

And it's such big business these days. If you're watching sport on TV, there'll be at least one advert for a bookmakers every advert break; if you're watching any other programme, chances are there'll be an advert for some bingo website or other. Online gambling is possibly more of a problem because you're not handing over hard cash to place your bets, which could actually make you think again.

Im sorry to be bringing down the tone of things here but just want to say any pub regs who feel worried or anxious about anything please let me know, if you've got nobody you feel you can chat to.
A neighbour of mine - know him all my life - went missing yesterday. They've found the car abandoned several hundred miles away. Its just not worth it. Especially for the middle aged fellas. Ive had two neighbours now who made a horrible choice. Last year it hit my Dad and luckily he had the sense to speak up. So just if you've anything on your mind be sure let someone know.
